Interesting. I've floated him out a bit in my fairly similar league and haven't gotten anywhere near 2x 1st rounder bites. As a contender I'm gonna hold this year unless something big comes across the trade desk. I know there's a solid risk I lose nearly all trade value for him but the reward for this season is huge if he's able to come off injury even at 85% of his usual self. 

This is the part of dynasty that I struggle with the most. If im not contending, it's an easy thought process. But with a top 3-4 team, knowing how long to hold aging, very productive vets, is a challenge.

You could totally see him being a fairly productive goal line/redzone weapon aged 30. Like a higher calibre Blount.

Personal bias as well, King Henry is one of my favorite players to watch and root for.  Makes it easy to just let him live out to the end on my squad rather than chasing minimal value

That’s the rub with aging players. Only contenders will really want Henry, despite the distinct possibility he’s the RB1 or RB2 in 2022 (if healthy) 

And it’s a double whammy for the team dealing him if also in contention - now you’re giving what might be a top 2 RB to your competition, for what might be a low draft pick. 

Tricky to navigate at this point. Imagine dealing Henry to a team, putting them over the top - they beat you in the playoffs, win it all and you get pick 1.12 as a consolation prize.  

Shark move is to deal him for a 2023 1st & 2023 2nd, IMO. Similar value, more likely chance of reward with the picks.

Unrelated, this went down recently in one of my 1QB PPR dynasty (not involved)

Team A gives Michael Gallup, 2.06

Team B gives Mike Williams

Both teams are competitive, Team B deep at WR so should be able to weather not having Gallup for part of the season. Team B then went out and moved 2.10 and 2.06 for the 2.01 to a rebuilding team.

Team A finished middle of the pack last year. Team B is straight rebuilding and has either the worst or second worst roster in the league.

Equitable trade to me to me but it I like it a little more for the straight rebuild guy getting Devonta and the pick.

Yeah as far as the conflicts, I don't even bother thinking about them (FF playoffs maybe different story but that is what I live for in this hobby). Every big play helps me somewhere and also hurts me. It is next level zen fan experience for me because once Sunday kickoff hits, I will have something like 2-5 special late afternoon or SNF/MNF decisions left to go and that I will have handy but otherwise I just enjoy the football for what it is. As for the management burden, yes it is a lot. And I am going to sell more of the orphan projects I took on last year. Have already sold 4 of them. I intended to have a comanager last year but he had a baby and spreadsheets scare him. I would still like to hire somebody for this year. I will try to sell about 5 more. The others are all so strong I can't see moving them.

I am in 5-7 leagues every year. One thing I do to keep myself from going crazy (and rooting against my own guys) is that I do not look at my opponents rosters until Monday AM. I just root for my guys on Sundays and am hopeful I am not playing against them as well.

Because I think his value is highest when they have him on the last year of his rookie deal. If they deal him now his salary is below 5 mill this season. Then if the new team deems him worth it, they can sign him to a new long term deal,

If Seattle waits until next season, they have to tag and trade him. I don’t think they get as much for him if they wait.

I am very high on Toney and understand moving on from Kelce but you gotta get a second solid piece on the Toney side...the fact it is April and there are no 2022 picks involved is a head-scratcher as well, you should be in zero rush to make this deal...the biggest mystery of all is why the Kelce owner had to throw anything else in at all regardless of what it is.

Trades can be super league dependant. In one of mine, picks are coveted by the majority of owners. 1st and 2nd year players with promise are easier to get than picks. In that league the going rate for aging vets is a good bit less than you'll see in this thread.   I think in those situations you have to change your strategies up a bit to counter the group think. If you're a contender, buy aging vets at a discount and trade picks for young promising guys. Guys like Kelce and Adams are guys you just ride into the sunset (again, if you're contending). 

Personally I'd have kept a game changer like Kelce on my roster until he retires if that were the going rate, but ymmv.

I dunno about worst trade ever, but it’s definitely a terrible trade.

Kelce should command far more to a contending team, especially in the wake of their WR corps shuffle. He might well have a career year, in an already spectacular career. Sure, he’s a short term asset at this point, but he’s the rare combo of positional rarity, talent & opportunity that he is still an incredibly valuable asset. 

And KJO is one of the better 3rd WRs with an aging Thielen ahead of him.

There is just no way Toney should command that package. And I like Toney. But Toney has a truly mediocre QB with a bad OL on a team in salary cap hell. 

So no - there have been worse trades in the history of FF. But not a lot worse. lol

The key is if you’re contending. Otherwise, having these guys keeps you in the middle (unless you decide to go ahead and try to compete, which isn’t easy either.). 
this is a large IDP league, 21 starters. 32 teams (players available twice). Some of the contenders are stacked to the point where many decide to rebuild with rosters which could compete in other leagues. With fewer teams interested in aging players, their value is lower. 
i find myself in that rough spot where I don’t plan to undersell the assets, but I might as I’m not likely to compete in the next few years.

Not really, Team A still has a solid foundation at RB & TE but was looking to divest out of "older WR".  He has Thielen, OBJ also.  Sorry had dates wrong..  2020 Champ, 2021 Playoff (lost 2nd round).

Josh Allen / Gibson, Mixon, AJones/Hock, Howard, Tonyan. but needs top tier WR help now.
