***Official*** Fallout 76 Thread (1 Viewer)

Andromeda was definitely much worse than ME3 (which I don't consider a bad game).
Andromeda was a playable game though compared to F76. It had a full story and gameplay features even if they were  a bit underwhelming. F76 so far still feels like a beta test.

Agree with this.  Had I known, and with the delays I wasted money getting this "at launch".  I have some hopes they can turn it around.  As it is I am still playing it, it still feels like Fallout so it isn't a complete waste.  As I said before, I wasn't expecting anything Fallout for a couple years so I'm just going to take this as bonus Fallout play and not get too worked up about it.
The thing I like the most about it so far is part of the knock: it's raw

It feels like a true survival game. That adds an element to it imo.

Saw an article that a group of players were permanently banned for following a group of players around shouting homophobic slurs. People suck. Which is why I avoid online completely. I can understand how it is different if you have a group of friends to play with. But at my age, people I know aren't playing games anymore.

Not a single post during the entire weekend.  Wow, that's pretty telling...and damning.  Seems like the small pocket of players that are "on" this game are dug into their bunkers and enjoying this game (and that's great) while the rest of us are on the roadside-such is the "fallout" of this game,

I loved FO4 so much and wanted desperately to LOVE this game and just I'm erase myself into a total time sink this Winter. But I can't. It's just a failure on so many fronts (trying to live up to what a fallout game should be).  I am very thankful RDR2 is here to completely distract me.  I loved Fallout 4 so much that, hadRDR2not been around,I would probably try to give FO 76another chance but because RDR2 is here and is so awesome, I don't have to.   I'm glad for that because I think I would just keep going back to fallout and getting frustrated.

But as much as I've written FO off on this one, I still recognize how much I love the series a d wanted it to be a good game.  Even as I play Red Dead, I find myself thinking " I wish this game had this piece of fallout" or "I wish this game did this like fallout does".

On this game, they can and will fix some bugs but, to me, the design and concept has doomed this one.

You’re the reason I ever even tried fallout so your lack of enthusiasm is telling. I have a sealed ps4 copy sitting on my kitchen counter and am similarly occupied with RDR2. Still. It sure I’ll enjoy this game as he BETA felt rather meh.
Update?   I got up to about level 10 here in F76 and I'm not sure I even want to play this anymore.    Underwhelming would be an understatement.

This pretty much 100% where I am with it too.   played RDR2 first and then came to this for a few nights and I think I'm done.

I was playing fairly frequently, but I got bit up a bit by a dog so I can't use my keyboard that well so I switched over to Civ VI since it is turn based.  Taking out a Sorched Queen with a bunch of people is good fun, and I'm still searching locations on the map so that keeps my interest, but they have serious issues to fix if this is going to be viable longer term.  Storage is still a huge issue for me.

I’m a level 91. Although the game has a TON of faults I still enjoy it far more than I should. There is almost no end game of substance and the story is lackluster but I enjoy exploring the world a great deal.

I bought this for $40 to play w/ my nephews. Haven't hooked up with them yet, but I've been enjoying it so far in solo play (about level 8 ). Some observations:

 - It plays really well for single player if you're the lone survivalist type. I barely ever see other players, so it's usually just you and the world. It often feels like you are the only one who left the vault.

 - Ammo is far more scarce, which makes finding / conserving bullets a thing (use melee). You also need to eat and drink, and finding clean water/etc is not easy. It makes camp / cooking / boiling water necessary.

 - Despite no human NPC's, there are plenty of ghouls / robots / supermutants / animals to fight. Ghouls use guns here.

 - I'm finding the quests fun enough - terminals essentially give you the "story" - there's been plenty to do so far.

All in all, I'm finding it fun, despite glitches and bugs, and it was worth the $40. But I enjoy solo / lone wanderer / survival play while listening to the 40's soundtrack. If that's not your thing, the single player aspect doesn't seem to have much to offer besides that.

The big rumor is that Bethesda has started pulling Fallout 76 from shelves in preparation to go Free-To-Play.  I'm surprised they are going this route so quickly.  But I don't think dropping to $20 will help them, so it may be their final saving grace.

Players have found ways to glitch the system and clone the game's most powerful weapons (and caps).  So there's now a black market where players are buying weapons and literally breaking the game.  Bethesda has no way of fixing it either.  Their official statement was to ask players to stop using exploits.

I stopped playing, mainly because I was sick of always being over-encumbered and not having a place to store my crap.  The 600lb limit isn't enough.

I'm still waiting on the price to drop.  I predict it hits $20 by summer.  I might pounce then.

I'll add a piece of positivity to the thread.  Fallout New Vegas wasn't universally liked at launch.  It had major game-breaking bugs and many didn't like it.  I didn't buy it at launch.  I still hadn't finished Fallout 3, so I waited.  By Sept (which was about 11 months after launch), I found New Vegas for $20 and snagged that puppy and I found it to be better than Fallout 3.   So, I hold out hope that they can polish this turd and make it into something worth digesting in the next year.  At the very least, we'll have mod support a year from now and that should help it, even if Bethesda can't.
Forgot to check the thread to bump this.  I know it's technically fall now, but I've seen Fallout 76 for as low as $15 for a couple of months now.  So I guess I can score one for my prediction.  But I still have no intention of buying the game.  With The Outer Worlds releasing next month, I'll get my single player Fallout-like game fix that way.
ETA: I've not heard anything about it going Free-To-Play since January.    I'm surprised it hasn't shown up on Xbox Game Pass, though.

I've heard nothing about this game in forever. Totally dropped off my radar. No plans to buy it. Went the way of the dodo I guess.
