***OFFICIAL*** FFA Heavy Music Thread - No banal, anodyne "Dad Rock" BS here.. (1 Viewer)

My friend's 17 year old daughter is into hardcore now. We took her to her first show and she survived her first pit (Jello Biafra). Anyway, as he's schooling her on all these hardcore bands, he was about to tell her about A### C###. So he's like, "Wait, nevermind." She insisted he tell her and now she's all into the lyrics.
You hear their guitar player fell off a mall escalator earlier this year and died?

I did hear that. And in true ironic fashion, his fans went on to write a bunch of song titles in tribute, including such gems as, "My band sucks so bad I jumped off an escalator and smashed my head on a food court table."

There's a technical death metal show in Oakland in September:

Obscura
w/ Archspire, Inferi, Exist, Anisoptera

at Oakland Metro Operahouse
SEPTEMBER 13, 2018 7:00 PM

Someone posted some Archspire in here recently.

I just bought Relentless Mutation. Incredible. These dudes makes Rush sound like Alice Cooper.

I've always found this type of music to be very relaxing. Plus those softer interludes give it a certain depth that would be lacking without.

Going to be a diverse live music calendar this month:

Arcade Fire September 21
Exhumed, Revocation, & Rivers of Nihil September 30

Both great shows. Arcade Fire obviously not appropriate for this thread. But it was one of the best concerts I've ever seen. Grizzly Bear opened and played way too long. As for the death metal show, all the bands were great. But the band I'm excited to hear more of is Rivers of Nihil. Amazing.

Word going around is Machine Head has broken up.

ETA:Doing a little more digging it seems two members have quit the band and as of now they still plan to move forward as a band without them,
