"Not even really thought about meeting people" doesn't give much wiggle room IMO. It doesn't even pass the logic test, since why would you have a profile on a dating site if you weren't considering meeting someone? So it's not just a lie, it's a very transparent lie. Or you could have just left that part of the sentence out and accomplished the same thing - getting a phone conversation that is going to have a lot more impact on whether you get a meeting with her than whether you've actually met a person or two before in this fashion. I could see lying if there was something to gain from it, like fast tracking the meeting and skipping the phone. Not a fan, but at least I'd see some logic there. Here, you lied and gain nothing from it, it's totally counter productive.

And rather than going through rehab, slowly working it back up and gaining confidence, you're thinking you can just jump right back into things and play at an all pro level. And the more you get pummelled, the more confidence you're losing and you're developing some very poor mechanics in the process.You need some success. For that, you're going to need to go back to the minor leagues for a bit.

I'm with ya but she's still in college. She's probably met (or at least had first romantic contact with) all of her boyfriends from hooking up at bars or parties. She has plans Friday, that's fine. Just suggest another night and don't give her so many options this time. IMO drinks after work on a weeknight is the way to go.

right, but do i dare ask for saturday? it's been my experience that if you let meeting linger it'll never happen. but asking for saturday seems like i'd be sounding desparate. maybe something like a "let's get a drink on monday then and if we run into each other Friday, great."

Yeah, Saturday night is asking for a pretty big commitment on a first meeting. Weeknights are lower pressure."I don't want to distract you from your friends on your first night back in town. I'm sure you have a lot of catching up to do. How about drinks Monday instead?"

So you really moved from California to Maple Grove, huh? By choice? Aside from having every possible chain restaurant imagineable all in like 1 square mile, I can't imagine what it'd have over California's nice beaches and great weather. I suppose I shouldn't talk though since I moved out here a couple of years ago from out by Philadelphia for law school and despite being miles away from lots of things I'm really enjoying it. The people here are pretty great (although they talk funny). Anyways, I gotta ask, what brought you out here?

Got a reply, not quite what I was looking for :Hi, I am actually out of town right now in Oklahoma and have been for about 6 weeks. My mom lives down here and my dad in MN so I'm often driving between the two. I'm coming back on Thursday (a long, boring, 12 hour drive alone) but I have plans Friday evening to see my friends I haven't seen in a while and go out. Definitely sounds like she will need a buffer zone - your best bet is to get a wingman or 3 and tell her where you will be at, include your phone number and tell her to give you a ring if her and her friends want to meet up. I think this is better then finding out where she will be at and just showing up, I would rather put the onus on her to touch base for Friday night. You could also say you should be around over the weekend if she wanted to grab lunch or a drink.
