I reverse this. First meet in person is a bar after work, on a weeknight. If she's a heifer, I can bail after 1 hour with the "gotta get up tomorrow" excuse and all I've bought her are two drinks. If she's not a porker, alcohol is a useful social lubricant to get things started. If I don't want to bail after 20 minutes I'll suggest a game of darts or shuffleboard or something to get competitive juices flowing. Second date is mini golf where I figure out if she has any fun personality, with a bite to eat after if things continue to go well.

It's always worked for me. Different than the typical drinks date and it can always lead to that anyway. The activity makes it a little easier to talk and have fun. I just never had a water buffalo go with me before. I may have to rework the order like Sarnoff has suggested. There's no way in hell I am going to go through a repeat of what I had to deal with yesterday.

So ive been doing online dating thing for about a month now nothing real serious thus far. Had a couple of dates lined up for this weekend but bailed since i met a girl who is going to drive 200 miles to come hangout with me for the weekend (met her at the club). Perhaps its just the area but any girls with a good head on their shoulders are hideous and girls that are hot are an absolute trainwreck.

Oh, come on. If anything I am just too nice. I was saying all that stuff to try to cut the date short and not have to deal with her any longer, not impress her. If I was more of a direct person I would have just said "this isn't working out, good luck finding someone" and parted ways after the mini-golf. Trying to remember if I detailed this here, but went out with a girl who had great pictures online that looked professional (shoulda dawned on me they were her HS pictures and she was then like 25) so I went for a nicer restaurant. It was very busy and I didn't recognize her at all when she came up to me. Was so taken aback but her different appearance (typical 30 plus pounds heavier minimum) I made up some BS about their being no tables and said we should go to Starbucks. Having one "go-to" bar makes it easy to remember where your first date was.The only problem I had was once running into a girl from Tuesday night on Friday night, when I was there with a new girl. Fairly awkward.

I rotate between 3 or 4 bars. Mostly based on which I think would work best for the girl or what part of town she's coming from. But they're all pretty similar and meet my needs: low key dive, not too noisy, sports on TV, darts or some other game available.

Just don't make it one of your Top 3 or 5 bars that you frequent. After I bring a girl to a cool spot she's never been and then I proceed to not return her calls, I would occasionally catch them stalking. Never a good look.
