Yep, that'd work but the crappy thing would be that he then wouldn't get to see her when he probably made plans to. Therefore, I think the best response would be something jokingly pompous like, "see, that's the best thing about me, I have the unmatched ability to work hard during the day and still be energetic and charming for a date at night."
