***OFFICIAL*** FFA MLB Draft (1 Viewer)

It may seem like fishing to you, but to others it just brings back the pain of the entire NBA draft because of LeBron.  My PM inbox can back this claim up....
Can I get the Cliff's Notes version of this whole Lebron issue? TIA
Koya drafted a second year player in an all-time draft (for a vote only), thus undercutting Capella's everyone who took players from earlier eras. Transfered the balance of power to the modern NBA players as evidenced from which teams made it to the finals.
Yes. It was all my fault. See, I ruined the draft. Just because other modern players would have gone soon after anyway (i.e. Kobe), it was my pick and only my pick of Lebron that ruined everything. In light of this, it was perfectly acceptable for certain people to then go after me personally, as if I really tried to ruin things.. when I was just trying to draft within the rules we made (plus drafting a pick that I thought was the right one for the draft even though I figured a lot of people would laugh at the choice). Of course, most of my other players were older and not especially known, but hey - that was just subterfuge so no one could see my blatant attempt to ruin the draft. In particular, I had it out for Capella - at least according to people not named Capella.

It should be noted, it is I who am the one that always brings this up. Even though I apparantly bring it up, via proxy, using someone elses handle - since my bringing it up, 90% of the time is in response to Nipsey's reminder that I ruined the draft.

Of course, in the last month I realize the sheer mention of Lebron drives Nipsey crazy. You may use this for fishing expeditions if you like.

I would like to know how Jim Edmonds made it past 15+ rounds of Larry Boy?
Doesn't he have Griffey?
Does he have Sam Crawford, Joe Medwick, Kiki Cuyler, Richie Ashburn to balance out the 5/6th round Griffey pick?Or, was Griffey merely the best available pick regardless of era - and perhaps was a bit of a value because most of us (me included) seem to have some anti modern player bias. ;)

To compare LeBron to Kobe is completely unfair. Kobe has already won three rings and is an established superstar.Joke all you want, but you hurt a lot of people that day you said "LeBron".

you hurt a lot of people that day you said "LeBron".
I know. It was all my fault. I should be made to feel bad and guilty about an online draft for fun. It really is worth all the efforts of those who lambast me for doing something so coldhearted and selfish. Even if those efforts stretch well over a month, my awful actions warrant at least so much.

Julius Erving personally sent me an email saying you made him cry.

Maid is here, have to step out for a bit....
Need to hide the bong?
No. She needs to get the floors here in my upstairs office before she hits the racquetball court.
Ahhh.. so she stays in shape then? I thought this maid was untappable. I wish I had raquetball courts - I think one day I will. There are a lot of good free tennis courts right in your area though - but Im too lazy to chase after loose balls.(yeah, you heard me)

I believe the NBA draft was done on the ut most up and up, as was the voting (despite the Mr. Ham Incident). The best team won it's as simple as that, the NBA historians of the FFA have spoken. :cheese:

I meant MY racquetball court. She doesn't play, only cleans it.

I think you had a great team. But Koya didn't hurt your team like he did to Capella's a lot of other teams....

Stan Hack is a 3rd baseman.....very important.

Wally Schang, C

Career OBP of .393 ranks in the top 100 all-time. Also a very highly regarded defensive catcher in his time, from what I can gather.

There were some other catchers out there with gaudier power numbers and accomplishments but this guy just seems to have the type of skills I'd want from my backup behind the plate.

He was on my list - but I was scared away by the inconsistent D. I believe he holds the record for most passed balls and/or errors in a season.Should be in the HoF, IMO.

Short answer is that it was a Vintage NBA draft but w/o any restrictions so modern players were entirely eligible. Some people drafted only vintage guys, some didn't.

Tough to judge a guy based on one season....He drafted him solely for the hype and ruined Capella's a few of the teams drafts.

So, it was only a vote competition and not a sim? Gotcha.Still, how does one player ruin a whole draft?

Flood gates opened and the polarization between those drafting only vintage and those drafting modern players widened after that. Whole rest of the draft was focused on modern players being able to school vintage guys on athleticism alone. The point of the whole thing went awry.

It'd be the equivalent of taking Santana in this draft and saying he's one of the all-time greats. Then guys who drafted Spahn-Feller-etc...are left scrambling to off-set the advantage of recency. He ruined a lot of friendships as well.

That's a shame. No ham for Koya.

:goodposting: Two + weeks of research and srafting went down the tubes for Capella some teams in that thing. A lot of feelings were hurt, not sure if it's safe to even bring up around some people, but Koya needs to be reminded of it once in a while as to not do it again....

Gosh I wouldn't go that far.....it was just a draft.
No, there were guys who swore never to speak with him again, some of them he had been posting with for years. One of them even had met Koya at one point for a burger and a beer. That's all gone now.

I dont think you could call any team with Nate Thurmond and Wes Unseld a Larry Boy team. :D Fact was it was quite the opposite pick than I usually make, and not at all based on hype. I hated the Lebron hype but he converted me this year - dudes for real. If people want to read into the pick it more than was there, and then start tossing personal accusations and such, well - it is an online message board.
