BTW, I think that Eck and Fingers are overrated. Fingers more than Eck, but both are more revered for changing the role of relievers than what they did on the field. That said, Quantrill isn't anything special, but he's probably underappreciated. It actually wasn't that bad of a pick to be honest.

STOP PUMPING UP PAUL QUANTRILL!!!!!

THE GUY HAS NO PLACE IN THIS THING AND THE ONLY REASON HE'S DECENT IN THE SIM IS BECAUSE OF SOME STATISTICAL GLITCH.

YOU HAVE SMOLTZ/QUANTRILL AND THEY'RE UNTOUCHABLE.  I HAVE ECK/FINGERS AND THEY CAN'T GET AN OUT.  WHAT'S WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE LARRY?  STOP GLOATING LIKE YOU KNEW WHAT YOU WERE DOING!!  YOU'RE STARTING TO SOUND LIKE CAPELLA.
Nipsey -I did know what I was doing...

I picked Quantrill because his top seasons are INCREDIBLE... he's never been a starter and he has a career adjusted ERA of 128, his high seasons in adjusted ERA are 238, 231, 193, 180, 156, and 3 in the 140s...

Fingers' high seasons: 332 (crazy-incredible), 196, 185, 146, 2 in the 130s, 3 in the 120s, 3 in the 110s...

Ecks' high seasons: 606, 237, 196, 148, 146, 4 in the 130s, 2 in the 120s...

Quantrill has 4 seasons at 180+, Eck & Fingers only have 3...

Quantrill is downgraded according to you guys because he isn't ancient, he actually compares relatively well to Eck and Fingers (except for those crazy sick seasons that Eck (606???) and Fingers (332?) had...)
Shame on you Larry. If Eck and Fingers don't measure up to Quantrill, then why are both in the HOF? And why won't Quantrill get even a mention? You drafted a middle reliever who had a strange, one year, statistical advantage on some of the closers drafted, that's all you did. And now your touting him as one of the 40 best relievers of ALL-TIME. Just zip it already, you're embarrassing yourself and making us all very, very ashamed to have taken part in this.
Nips, I didn't say he was better, I said he fits statistically...and he does, statistically...

Ecks and Fingers had the wierd statistical thing... if anything Quantrill has been as stead, if not more, than Ecks and Fingers have career wise... He has more years with a 180+ adjusted ERA for sure...
Shame on you Larry. You've made a mockery of this thing.
why? 'cuz your losing?
If you say "cuz" one more time, we're going to have a problem.

all I'm saying is that they are comparable, and Quantrill, statistically, does belong in this...he just gets no respect because: a) he isn't even a closer and b) he isn't a starter c) he is a modern player and d) he's not that good
Fixed.

Listen, if you want to come in here with an original opinion, I'm all for it. But when you just recite some line from a book like it's fact, you add nothing to the discussion and I think you should be penalized in some way for that.

Bottom 10: Maranville Rabbits

Les Lancaster '89 is the new pitcher. Bill Terry hits a single. [1] Reggie Jackson flies out to shallow RF. Cal Ripken hits a popup single to LF. [12] Joe Wood is being pinch hit for by Rickey Henderson. Rickey Henderson hits a popup single to LF. [123] Billy Hamilton flies out to shallow RF. Max Carey hits a groundball single to CF.

d) is your opinion BECAUSE of a, b, & c... not because of his skills...

shut up Nipsey, you think everyone but you should be penalized for everything so you win...your opinion is, quite honestly, not worth much...or, at least, it wouldn't be if we didn't know you were 100% sarcastic and trying to be funny 100% of the time...

if Quantrill plays 5-10 more seasons like he has been playing his whole career there is a chance he might...nah.. 'cuz Fingers is revered more for his name than his statistical accomplishment, which was the biggest problem with your picks of Eck and Fingers...

They were good players, yes, but they were not as good as where you picked them, especially picking both of them...

also, as far as the sim goes, Fingers has an average season, although Eck does have a pretty decent one for you...

Les Lancaster didn't make it into the game.I will gladly take a split when game two is your number one (Alexander) versus my number four (McLain). Good game by your squad. Good to see Bonds is still out-of-this world.

Nice job waiting for the results of the second game before commenting too.

So what exactly happened to your winning streak, then?Bonds is actually unfairly reined in by the programmers--here's the list of people who have more HR than him, and shouldn't:

Al Simmons, Alex Rodriguez, Mike Schmidt, Jimmie Foxx, Lance Berkman, Harmon Killebrew.

Also, Bonds is batting .246, which is similarly BS.

  'bout time this got interesting again.

Larry, I'm not in this league or anything so I don't know how the sim stuff works, but Quantrill's career WHIP is 1.41.  That's pretty awful.  The reason his ERA isn't worse is because he's usually had strong closers pitching behind him to clean up his messes.  You can't really argue that this guy is any good.
:goodposting:Also, conveniently ignored by larry.Bad career WHIP, terrible run as a starter, few good but not really special seasons mixed in, and now has spent the past 3 years pitching in front of Gagne and Rivera. And then not only gets defended in an all-time draft, but compared to some of the greats (and I agree with Fingers being overrated, FWIW). :loco:

Why do the ultra-religious constantly harp on the gay sex thing? What's the deal with that Larry? Why throw that out as an insult every time? For a guy that doesn't masturbate/never had sex/about to marry the first girl he'll sleep with, it's strange to me that you constantly bring up deviant sex when putting others down.Explaination?

It reached 10? You mean before the loss, right? Losses end winning streaks. Whose kickass team ended yours?

but to say that Quantrill isn't a respectable pick based on his #s as a relief pitcher is laughable...
You want to know what's laughable larry? The fact that you drafted Mike Myers and Paul Quantrill AND Tim Wakefield and lead your division. Look at your team hitting #'s. Near the bottom of the league. But because you have a handful of pitchers that happen to have statistical glitches for their third seasons, you actually think you're team is solid. That's what's laughable.

Les Lancaster = :own3d: As the Rabbits' win streak climbs to 10, with the Dragons, Arks and Lebron flying in tonight for a three game series......
How'd the rematch go?
Les Lancaster didn't make it into the game.I will gladly take a split when game two is your number one (Alexander) versus my number four (McLain). Good game by your squad. Good to see Bonds is still out-of-this world.

Nice job waiting for the results of the second game before commenting to.

Also, Bonds is batting .246, which is similarly BS.
ummm, for those counting at home, the winning streak reached 10, just like I said. Now I get Dragons, Arks and Lebron and Colome Is A God for 6 of the next 10 games. I am just liking this streak for my team.
It reached 10? You mean before the loss, right? Losses end winning streaks. Whose kickass team ended yours?
Yes, it reached 10. Including one win against your "kick-###" team. Congrats on the win.

Listen, if you want to come in here with an original opinion, I'm all for it. But when you just recite some line from a book like it's fact, you add nothing to the discussion and I think you should be penalized in some way for that.
shut up Nipsey, you think everyone but you should be penalized for everything so you win...your opinion is, quite honestly, not worth much...

or, at least, it wouldn't be if we didn't know you were 100% sarcastic and trying to be funny 100% of the time...
Did you just tell me to shut up? Did you? That's it.IT'S ON LARRY, LIKE IT'S NEVER BEEN ON BEFORE.
I thought it was on 65 pages ago when I told everyone your deep dark secret about UCONN being your gay #####...(was it UCONN?? I think so, but I'm not sure... :rotflmao: )
:rotflmao: I'm not harping on it, I let it go, remember??

I was just pointing out that you said it was on like 50 pages ago, and, quite honestly, it hasn't been on even a little bit...
But by "IT'S ON", you assume it has something to do with gay sex. It doesn't. That's all I'm saying.

It's sort of funny that you would get so snippy now about my team kicking you around, when just a couple pages ago you were so willing to gloat about a 1-run, extra-inning win. It's just sort of funny, that's all.

I was just pointing out that you said it was on like 50 pages ago, and, quite honestly, it hasn't been on even a little bit...
:own3d: again. Larry is on a role.
roll.even though you're doing a good job playing the role of larry's pawn. :own3d:
Wasn't there talk of blowing priests a few pages back? Geez, what do I have to do to make it "ON" around here?Tough crowd!

You've been on for quite some time. I missed the last 50 pages or so. Couldn't keep up.You can repost the priest bit if you like.

Not a pawn. An instigator maybe but not a pawn.Still better than getting ##### slapped by Dragon Boy and his garbage relievers. :own3d:

Why are you comparing Quantrill, a middle inning reliever, to guys who spent nearly their entire careers pitching in clutch situations? :loco:

Larry - they're better. The fact of the matter is you're probably a young guy who doesn't know the majority of these players. That's ok, the real issue is you stick your foot in your mouth when you try and compare Quantrill to two of the top relievers ever. It just makes you look foolish.

So if 100% of the population disagreed with you that Quantrill is a top 48 pitcher, your evidence that they are wrong is the sim?
