***OFFICIAL*** FFA MLB Draft (1 Viewer)

I owe two descriptions...I'll start with the pick which seems to have disappointed a few people. I needed another outfielder and this pick fills that need. Averill was a 6 time All-Star for Cleveland. His career started late as he toiled away in semi-pro ball before Cleveland signed him as a 27 year. Upon entering the league, his talent was apparent as he went 7 straight years in the top 9 in home runs. He played centerfield which is a plus as I have Williams and Delahanty also out there, neither of which are capable of doing it. He was also the starting CF for the AL in the first 5 All-Star games. He also helped end Dizzy Dean's career in the 1937 All-Star game by injuring his toe on a line-drive.

If I am up next, just have to catch up and then make my pick. I called my friend but we were not at my turn yet, so hopefully I didnt hold things up.

SP Burleigh GrimesTo start he finished with 273 wins placing him 31st alltime. He had 5 seasons of winning 20 games iplaying from 1916-34. In 28 and 29 he finished 3rd and 4th in MVP voting so he had a couple of dominating years. For some strange reason he had a good stretch from 1918-21 and then from 28-30...he must have been on a bender for the 7 years in between.Like I said he used the spitter, but I like that. It shows the dirty side. High and tight. Don't hate the player ...hate the game. He's also clutch winning Game 7 of the 31 Series for the Cards taking a shutout into the 9th inning.Playing in Tiger Stadium, I like when baseballpages (which is down) says his best strength is keeping the ball in play. He's also durable with 14 straight years of double digit wins.

thx funk.Im always waiting. I could not pick for two days, come back, and I would be on deck, and remain there for hours.

Funkley... the handle come from anything in particular?
Yup. Small town in northern Mn. where we own some land. Stole it for my screen name. Factoid: At one point back in the 40's & 50's it was the smallest incorporated town in the USA. :hophead:
