Hey, I'm not accusing anyone--I'm accusing like 8 or 9 people, at the very least. Drafting with the sim in mind is not the same as sim fishing. I don't want to get screwed by whatifsports ranking a players season, so I'll make sure their third season doesn't suck before I draft (a la Carlton Fisk). The difference between John McGraw and the likes of Bill Joyce and Jack Pfiester is that baseball fans have actually heard of John McGraw before. I'm sure someone will draft Joe Torre for similar reasons.Hey, I'm not accusing anyone--I'm accusing like 8 or 9 people, at the very least. If I'm in the 8 or 9 I'll tell you that I could have drafted a much different team if I only wanted to win the sim. I haven't hidden the fact that I've played around there but I think it's a cool site. After years of playing Strat with friends and a case of beer it's pretty cool to think the site can do in days what it took us a year to do back then. But really, I would have done things much different and I doubt I'm alone. You singled out Larry Walker. I had been sitting on Averill for two rounds. He went. Walker is damn near a clone of Averill. It took informed minds like Cap and Pickles all of about 1 second to shoot him full of Coors Field holes. Carlton Fisk? Joe Torre is already drafted. There's little-to-no difference between John McGraw and Bill Joyce. Their careers are identical, but McGraw was a famous manager and thus people have heard of him.As Oso said, If Roy Halladay or Barry Zito retired right now, they'd have careers of a similar length and not nearly as good as Pfiester, the guy with the #3 ERA ALL TIME. His numbers stack up with the OF's taken that round.....and some taken before him. Yes, his 3rd season is good. Usually happens in a league full of all stars.

I wouldn't pick them now if they were eligible. While they have had a few great seasons, they are arguable great careers yet.
Jose Oquendo is important to baseball as well.
He had one amazing season. They rest just had really good ERAs.

From what I remember it just kinda happened as we were talking over how it would work. It was a good idea then and it still is. Funnest thing I've been a part of on a message board and it's not close. Depite the #####ing even. Matter of fact the #####ing make me feel like I'm drafting with my high school friends so it's even better.huuuuuuge mistake announcing we were going to do the sim. should've waited until the end and asked everybody if they wanted to do it. ah well.
