Doesnt James originally have Bagwell REALLY high, and then sorta just skips over him, almost as if tired of defending Bags' previous rating?

His avoidance of Bagwell discussion is definitely odd. I did some searching around and found this from an online chat:

He has Bags at #4.Not sure I could disagree more on a player's ranking..top-10, sure..number four? No way.

Agreed. I could totally rationalize taking him here on the numbers, but my mind says he's not as good as the numbers say.

I put him in the Helton category (BTW how did he end up with 44 win shares this year), of guys who somehow put up numbers that he Win Shares formula rewards.

This is one of the most ridiculous arguments I've read in this entire thread.Bagwell has his numbers over an entire career. Helton has his over six years. Bagwell is an MVP. Helton's not. Bagwell played in real ballparks. Helton played in Coors.

They're not even remotely related except for the final numbers.

Someone will eventually take Helton in this draft just because he'll kick ### in the sim (though they will penalize the bejeezus out of him for Coors Field), but he's not even close to Bagwell's league. Bagwell is a HOFer.

I'm not saying Helton=Bagwell...I'm saying the same statistical aberrations that make Helton so valuable for win shares has affected Bagwell the same way.BTW I'm also very prepared to argue Bagwell isn't a HOF right now. I personally think he has to get to 500 HR.

Ok, I will settle the debate once and forall.FFA, who is better, ARod or Arky Vaughn. Cause SURELY the FFA will take both into proper consideration. Many experts say Arky had the career Arod is "in the middle of" - but has not yet finished. Experts might be 60/40 in favor of either Arky or Arod (im just guessing but thats a fair range). Id put money it is at least 4:1 ration against Arky in the FFA.

again...why the Bonds hatin' for Balco but no mention of the same effect on "bulked up" MIF'ers? If you have A-Rod as a top SS you better have Bonds as the best or second best PLAYER ever....

For one, Bonds is twice the player A Rod is . Second, I do not think A Rod has ever been under any suspicion for use of such substances. Guys like Giambi, Caminiti, Sheff all have some question, but A Rod has never been associated with roids. If you are talking about the taint of the "modern game" and "inflated numbers" you have one thing. If you have a personal concern with stats re: Balco and roids, I dont think A Rod has ever been under any suspicion, whereas Bonds and some others certainly have.
