I think he goes the other way and scoops up Cecil Fielder...

I've looked at him every round for the past 3-4 or so, but couldn't pull the trigger on him.Great defense, so-so offense, good player.I think he went right around where he should've..maybe a tad late, but no big drop.

Hey, nice one. :slapsback:
ahhhhhh. . . .now I can come in off the ledge
Agreed, his defense is nice, but there are a whole host of other with a lot better offensive numbers. I'm not too surprised he lasted this long, but he's a good value here.

I thought the O was good enough to throw him in the 6-7-8 hole(depending on who I get further down the line). The defense and clutch hitting was to good to pass up(and he did win and MVP for crying out loud). I agree it wasn't a huge slip, I think he might have gone about a round to late.

I still need a 3B...he was definately a guy I was looking at. Good pick.

Brooks was on my short list. Would have been a real treat to have him at the hot corner. There is no defensive equal for him. His lack of "super" offensive numbers could have easily been covered up. He does have some nice career numbers and probably HOF worthy on his bat alone, but his glove is so much more important.

I could see larry taking Cecil here..

he was as good as Barry Bonds..look at the homers..lol
plus he'd be a defensive replacement for Thomas...
Big Daddy is to Defensive Replacement as John Kruk is to Pinch Runner:rotflmao: :rotflmao:

Of course he probably is better than Thomas at first. He played more games there..counting the Japanese leagues.

If I were to put my team into the mix, I like it more than Harriers ...ERA+ is important to me because it helps "level the field" pretty well.  WHIP is also very important to me.  \
Sorry, I just noticed this. I'm honestly not trying to be a ####, but when you point to WHIP as one of your indicators, how can you say your two-man staff is better than mine? My guys have 7 of the top 50 WHIP seasons for starters in history. Seaver and Grove combined have zero. It's a great pair, no doubt. But can you honestly rank that ahead of these powerhouses?Edit to add: Also 10 of the top 50 ERA seasons. Also all three are in the top 15 ERA+ all-time.(Though it depends on which lists you consult, with different IP requirements.)
Just because you think your team is better than mine does not make you a ####. We have a differing opinion. On my list, I have the #2 overall picther (and top lefty ever), another pitcher that rounds off the top ten best pitchers ever, and then a third who had almost a decade that was like a Koufax, a couple decades earlier (in fact, Vance held the single season strikeout record until Koufax broke it, I believe).Nothing wrong with that. To me, adj. Era is the most imoprtant stat, and BB = H / 9 is also very important. As are strikeouts, if the other two are in order. All three and you have dominance. You like your staff, I like mine. No one being a #### there .

In case people missed it I took P Niekro
Sorry, I did miss it.I'm torn between two players, but I'm going to go with Kid Nichols. He slid way way WAY too far already. Couldn't pass up a guy with 360 wins and a .634 win %. His adjusted ERA is 14th all time and rates very favorably with guys like Spahn and Alexander.
You deserve heaps of jeers. Anyone who would take a pre-1900 pitcher is a loser and a desperate soul, throwing up the white flag, admitting defeat at the hands of better drafters.
Than you dont know baseball history. Before you start throwing the accusations, look it up. Nichols is arguably a top 20 pitcher... more likely top 30. That is just where he fell.

 (Do people even realize how much fun I was having with that Lebron pick? People take things too seriously sometimes. myself inclulded. :D Once pettit was taken, I was working, and mad. So I went young. I see Lebron will be my legacy. If he wins the MVP this year, im calling for a revote, since he would have been "in MVP form" at time of the draft :P I am actually going to take the Mets picthing prospect they picked #1 overall last year. He should become a top pitcher like Seaver, or Ryan and then they can trade him, like Kazmir)

Brooks - best defensive 3B ever (there is one other who is talked about in circles, who prob wont be picked in this draft). However, in a draft of all time greats, that advantage is minimized. For one, we have some very good to great 3B on D at is it, plus these guys have some monster numbers. However, 3B is so thin, it will be curious to know how good Brooks ends up being when 3B #14, 15, 16 are drafted

80 pages for 7 rounds

:stillers:
You're celebrating inefficiency?
who says you need to whip the picks out..there's good info in these hur pages.

don't be made because people have resorted to taking Urkel-Os in your sham of a draft.

:own3d:
You missed the hemp cereal.
Good God man..seriously?
Yes.. and worse yet, it was being pumped up by the guy that selected it as a sweet choice that would break the draft wide open.It did that alright..
