Time to expose mrharrier for the simfisher that he really is:

Red Munger -- career ERA: 3.83 (ERA+: 103), 3rd season ERA: 1.34

Jack Pfiester -- 8 seasons, 71 career wins, great numbers just wasn't around long

Les Lancaster -- 7 seasons, 41 career wins, career ERA: 4.05 (ERA+: 98), 3rd season ERA: 1.36

Gotta dispute these guys have any business being on an all time team.

I'd consider doing this but just know that as an experienced WhatIf Baseball guy, the team I'd chose in "real life" would be vastly different than the team I'd select for WhatIf. There are certain characteristics that I feel are overvalued in the WhatIf world and don't accurately reflect true life baseball.

My teams in WhatIf are constructed specifically to take advantage of that Simulated environment. I know what works there...
ack.I'd rather not see people draft a team solely based on what will win on whatifsports.
Well, I'm sure I could make a spirited defense of selections that would succeed in the WhatIf world but that's not what you're looking for is it?
no.I should have saved the whatifsports thing for later, like a surprise on some reality show.

"And now, everybody has to pay up $10..."

Ahhh more sim bull#### I see. How that sim destroyed a good idea. Have to either draft for a team, or draft for a sim. Doing both simply doesnt work (well, at least not with this sim). That said, a partial  to Nipsey. Marv WAS my idol - back biting and all. But now that he is a New Jersey announcer, he can stay in that cesspool of a state. In true homage to Nispey's artistic abilities, I knew right away that his drawing was one of two people - either Marv, or Len Berman (another NYC sportscaster). Both look similar. Plus, Len's mother is in the same assisted living facility as my grandma.

I thought he was drawing Spock until he put a tie on him instead of a Star Fleet insignia.

That's gonna happen with any sim. It just really helps to know what works over there (which stats are weighted most highly) and how to target an anomalous good third "best" season. (Salaries weight innings way too much, so it's not hard to scoop up good ERAs that way)

Here's a tweak suggestion -- instead of basing the third-year rule on WIS salary, base it on the stats themselves:1) Pitchers -- no top-two seasons in WHIP, OAV, or HR/9

2) Batters -- no top-two seasons in BA, OBP, or SLG

.

This would take way too long to search for the right guy to take on WIS. And have fun trying to enforce those parameters. Larry would have a field day.

I knew it was bad, but I didn't realize it was that bad.

I demand Harrier rename his team the Irish Drunken Deadballers.
Yeah, how stupid of me to draft pitchers with good career ERAs. Stupid, stupid, stupid!

I don't think it would take too long -- a guy's entire career can be laid out on one screen. Wouldn't bother me none. YMMV.As for enforcing it -- next time around, everyone can have their teams checked by another drafter (or two) BEFORE the season starts.

I think the sim would work without the third year requirement and if a player had to have a certain number of seasons being a good player or something...We need to come up with some minimum threshhold for players and then let people pick whatever season they want from a players career...

what about guys where that would eliminate thier 5 best seasons??'cuz I'm sure there is someone who that would apply to...

You have chosen to ignore larry_boy_44. View this post · Un-ignore larry_boy_44 Larry, if your post is about a follow up league, I gotta say you're even more hard headed than previously thought. I didn't think that was possible.

yes, because I totally picked the season I did for Quantrill on purpose...I mean, I cheated you all on purpose... it was all a plan to win a online sim baseball league that means nothing... I am truly that pathetic...

1. I don't expect to be in the next one, although if I was allowed in I would be happy...2. I am one of the few people who are involved in this one, therefore, i have a better idea than anyone other than the other 15 who did the draft at what needs to be changed...

Larry, why don't you sleep with your wife?
 I'm not married yet... I don't have a wife until a a little over a year from now...
Yeah, but you said you don't bone her. Is there a reason you don't like her that much? Is this an arranged marriage, possibly?
no, I like her just fine... a lot actually...We just don't have sex...

I don't think its right to do that until one is married... she agrees...

so we don't...

:goodposting: Interested in Koya's opinion as well. Doesn't really matter, as there's no going back now. But this sufficient material for a bull session.

:hophead:

Afternoon scores are in. Funkley takes game one. :hot: I was up by 2 in the eighth, so the computer does the wholesale defensive changes. Funkley comes back with 4 in the ninth to go ahead by two. Batting in the bottom of the ninth I get two on when the pitcher's spot comes in. My bench is EMPTY!!! So crappy hitting pitcher is pinch hit for by ANOTHER crappy hitting pitcher and he flies out. Game over.I may have to turn off the defensive replacements or at least tweak them a bit.

2 ####### errors by Carew in the top of the 11th. :hot:
and then he couldn't even redeem himself in the bottom of the inning. What kind of ballplayer is he?!?!?Should have gone with Paul Quantrill that round instead. Dude is rock solid.
