Part of my daily routine at the office consists of checking a variety of offshore sportsbooks for props and futures. One prop that has caught my eye for some time now is the “Next Pope Special” offered at MyBookie.

Betting on the Pope…seems kind of ironic if you ask me, but I don’t hate it. I’m not a religious fella, but I reckon this would be frowned upon by the Catholic Church. Nevertheless, let’s dive into the madness and assess the situation.

For those who don’t snack on the body of Christ Sunday morns, Jorge Bergoglio, aka Pope Francis, has been donning the tall cap since 2013.

Saw something on the twits earlier today myself.  Is Jorge Frankie dying or something?  Why are we betting on this now?

 
Whatever the total is for Flyers Pens on Wed, take the over. 

Both teams have injured starting goalies,  bad third pairing defense and scoring depth on offense. 

Pens have given up 13 shots in first 13 minutes.

Do we have any thread members vacationing to Italy anytime soon?  I need a lean here.  I just want to be able to answer "I bet on the next pope" next time someone asks me what the craziest thing I've ever bet on.

Thanks man, I appreciate your insight. There are plenty of tanking teams winning quarters straight up that present opportunity to hit PLUS MONEY. It has completely thrown my rhythm off, as that Spurs / Grizzlies over isn't going to hit.

So no more picks from me.
