*** OFFICIAL *** FFA WAGERING THREAD - Merry Christmas!!! (5 Viewers)

I know you were.  I never thought about 40 time either until they did that eval.
My wife and I coached our kids tee-ball teams last year, one in 6u and one in 8u, the 6u we had done before and was a bunch of fun, the 8u was a pain, parents complaining about lack of practices and other stupid stuff.  Opened my eyes to how different things are from when I was a kid.  Boys across the street are playing baseball year round, one is 9 the other is 7, seems so young to me.

Should be playing at least 2 sports at this age.  Not focusing just in 1.  There are a couple of organizations for us that are year-round baseball to.  Most won't even let you play if you are playing another sport during baseball seaso.  Absolutely ridiculous.  We have a core of 6 athletes that play everything together.  Football(mine plays soccer), baseball, and basketball.  We are bigger stronger and faster than most teams and kids we play but that doesn't always translate to wins against the kids that play one sport year-round.

Same thing happens in basketball this winter we had the kids play AAU and we played vs older kids teams.  I ran the score table and often got to chat with the other team score keeper.  They were all year round basketball that was all they did at 7, 8 ,9 yrs old.

I think I saw a tweet from someone that said 29 out of 32 first round draft picks played at least 2 Sports in high school and 14 of them played 3.

Kind of makes me glad my kids aren’t good at sports.  They play baseball in a church league that lasts for 6 weeks, soccer in the fall and school basketball in the winter but these are all 1-2 day a week...I can’t imagine going year round every day

dont get me wrong if they were really into it I’d support it but they’re not so I figure they’re better off honing their Fortnite skills

2 Sports and least until the latter stages of HS is clearly the way to go. Kids develop less repetitive type injuries such as tendonitis and also build muscles and skills that they don't use in other sports. Having kids play year round at 7 years old is criminally insane IMHO.  Kids have their whole lives to be competitive so they should being a kid for at least a little while... not like the overwhelming majority are going to play the sport in college let alone have some kind of pro career!

Very few at a young age are natural enough to be considered good.  A lot comes with reps and practice in the backyard.

My kids think anything on youtube is cool, so I try to find them some instructional stuff on there that helps with the fundamentals.

I know it sounds weird, but just watching actual games helps a ton.

Yeah my kids aren't lighting the sports world on fire.  I just want them to participate because it's so good for them in so many ways.

William Hill has some controversy with some draft props, I think we've all been there with some of these novelty props.

The ESPN article doesn't have as many details

http://www.espn.com/chalk/story/_/id/23385775/chalk-baker-mayfield-draft-bets-cause-confusion-vegas

But if you got 20 minutes, Gil tells the story. I wasn't 100% convinced he was right until the end with the exact wording of the bet.

Watched this earlier today.  I've heard some people bash Gill as just another tout, but I think he's super smart, entertaining, and he's never tried to sell me anything.  Glad he stood his ground on this.  There was no argument for WH in my opinion, other than "We posted a bad line" a la Tony at 5d.  And if a B & M book pulled that crap they should be burned to the ground imo.  Of course as you said once the small print was shown there was no argument left.  They were just being beetches.

Heads up, bookmaker graded the kirk cousins week 1 nfl prop  :hifive:

Thought I wouldn't see that money until september, time to go blow it on something dumb now

Some jabroni probably graded it like a doofus and then they put a report in front of the CEO that said "we won 1,000,000" on the NFL draft..... but then after changing the grade it turned out they lost 1,000,000 so they were trying to wiggle out of it.  My guess is the reaction of the girl at William hill said it all and that there were probably others who stopped by to cash tickets that already were agitated.

im suprised they let them publish these bets in Vegas.  It's a well documented event but I though there was a rule about having to be in a box score.

Donovan Mitchell has 4PF with 9:48 left in the 3rd Quarter. Rockets are only down by 5 points at home. I'd feel pretty comfortable backing the truck up on Live - Rockets ML -215.

Also, Joe Ingles is 5 of 7 from 3-point land. Once that stops, Rockets should win this game by 8+.

Also - lines are out for OROY

Rosen at 10-1?

Edit: probably going to be a watch and see approach here.  I'll gladly go back to the well and fade the RB/WR class again if one of the QB can nail down a job out of camp.

I'm not going to go crazy with it but I have 10 wins as the ceiling with this team.  It's a 9 juiced to the over at the moment.
i'm hoping the hype with their draft builds it up a bit. i'll give my right nut if that group of scrubs breaks 10 wins

I'd lean skip and just blind bet under totals each week. I'd think if they get to 10 wins it will be in relatively low scoring games. I don't see them getting to 10 on Dak's arm combined with that receiving corps winning shootouts or running Zeke all day.

Nailed it.  8 point win.

(I was in on this too)

Well friends, I'm afraid to say that I need to take a break from gambling. I had a $9,000 bankroll in January and managed to diminish it to zero. Has been a terrible 5-months of gambling for me. The bets aren't hitting like they have in previous years.

At best, you want to be profitable and make money gambling.
At worst, you want your gambling to be self-sustaining.

This has been my worst gambling year-to-date and my bankroll has been anything but self-sustaining. I can't shake the funk and I'm not going to rely on MLB to turn things around. I'll see you guys later this year!

It doesn't make me any less of a man to walk away, I just need to do what's best for me and my family.

Absolutely the right call dude.  It's one thing to gamble it up a bit with your own $$.  It's another thing to grind it out with a separate bankroll.   It's another thing entirely to try and with with money you don't have.  That almost never ends well.

I'll just say this.  You have some good insights.  You could be a winning gambler.  But your bankroll management and discipline will never let you, unless you change.  Doubling up after losing, and chasing, and betting way too much on "locks" are no bueno.  Winning gamblers over a long period of time don't hit the big score, they grind it out.  It can be boring, but not if you can look at it the right way.  If you can, do it, if you can't, stop gambling.  It's not a get rich quick scheme or everyone would do it.

We have all told you this before and you ignored it all.  Maybe now you'll listen.

For the children.

Agreed, he is never going to win long-term with his current gambling "strategy"

Check out this graph of my bets since 12/01/17, when I first started out some new stuff for me.  I'm up 20 units overall, but have endured some large ups and downs including losing Streaks of 7 days & 9 days (currently and counting :kicksrock:) & winning Streaks of 7 days, 7 days, 6 days.  And a bunch of other swings either way in between.

Most importantly, I'm using very small unit sizes (like .25% of bankroll), b/c I'm in this for the longhaul and really want to see if my systems work.  If you want to gamble like it seems you do....study bankroll management and have a plan....and only use money that you can afford to lose.

Pelicans return home tomorrow night down 2-0; Pretty sure that means Pelicans 1H bet is in order. Just a PSA.

Edit to add - Taking CLE +6.5 tonight. Had em' two night ago +7.5 for no other reason that CLE matches up well with TOR and I thought that was too many points - wish I had taken the ML!  TOR let that one get away, and CLE won when they did not play their best game. I thought if CLE got past IND they were going to the finals ( to get rolled, but that is a different discussion) and I still think that is true. GLTA  AB

I got one for you. Since 2009 Cowboys 0-8 SU and ATS the week after MNF (on 5 days rest). And that's the week they fly to Philly this year! sdql

Got a date with a blonde-haired, blue-eyed second grade teacher on Saturday.
taking her to top golf. I've never been. just paid 50 bucks to "reserve a bay" for us. have you ever been there? it feels like a place that rich d-bags go to have fun. is that correct? should I be intimidated by that?

Not at all.

Been there twice. There is one a few miles from my house.

Picture a bowling alley but with golf.

They do a good job with them but the lines and wait can be crazy. You gotta buy a membership for like 5 bucks.

You basically play a game of golf like a frame and try to hit balls to certain locations and then when that frame is done you can buy another frame.

You have a waiter to bring you stuff.

They have a good desert with melted chocolate here. Forgot what it was called but that would be good for you to pour melted chocolate all over your dates T&A to lick off?

Thanks man. I was kind of tripping on the whole "$50 just to reserve a room" thing, but if it helps avoid a crazy wait time then I'm cool. No longer intimidated. :thanks:

To add onto what CN stated. The one here in KC is always busy and these is 1 hour plus wait whenever we go and 2 hours plus on Fridays and Saturdays. So it's good you got a reservation. From what I heard though that 50$ is for only the reservation and cannot be used towards your game play which is a BS money grab. You both will have to get a membership card ($5 a piece) then once you get to your bay you should be good to go and it's just like a bar with your own waiter. Each bay has it's own TV as well. Depending on what time of day you go you pay by the hour (you can play for only 1/2 hour if you want as well) and I think night rates start at $45 an hour for a bay. One thing we do to get more play is hit 4 or 5 balls at a time instead of each hitting one at a time and switching each hit and wasting your hour.
