Congrats to the Rays!
And kudos for the Sox for having the heart of a champion, down the way they were on Thurs, to take this to the 9th inning of a game 7 is pretty amazing
And as much as I hate the gimmickry of the AS game deciding home field advantage for the WS, at least the Rays players had a HUGE impact on the AL winning that game; Longoria with a game tying double late and Kazmir getting the win

Joe Maddon - looking forward to driving on Joe Maddon way one day.
My dad is 63. Has diabetes and is a bit of a wreck physically at this point. Not to get all sappy, but he took me to my first baseball game at Al Lang Field at age 5 to see the Cards play the Mets. I talked to him afterwards tonight and he was choked up a bit. He's lived in St. Pete almost all his life and now this city, his city...St. Petersburg...St. Petersburg is going to host the World Series. And all the games and all the bad baseball we've seen over the years is now going to meld together and be forgotten when we sit down to watch Game 1 together Wednesday night.
I can't wait. And I can't believe it.

Wow. Nice story capella. Enjoy it. Mine's gone, but that reminded me of him.
Probly my favorite part about the blu rays is Maddon. I have been so impressed by him. Besides everything else, really handled himself well after the collapse in Boston.

Oh yeah, that play by Iwamura to end the game was pretty amazing. Just watched, and rewound, it again a few times, and he got an awful hop there. He misses that, and all hell coulda broke loose. It's always a trip to think about how one little thing can/could change everything.

Rooted for the Rays last night like they were the Yankees. Couldnt take another dramatic comeback by the Sox. Yes Im a bitter Yankee fan. Ill root for the Rays in the WS. They are a great story.

My pop is for all purposes a pretty healthy guy but he took me to my first game at Fenway when I was about 6-7 years old. We both have the extra innings package and while I probably catch 100 Sox games a year (either live or on TIVO), he doesn't miss a single one. I caught 4 of the 7 games in this series out on their back patio over a few beers with him. I was also over there when the Sox won the WS last year. Good times...There's something about baseball that brings fathers/sons together. Glad you get to watch the Rays in the WS with your pop...very very cool.

Late to the party, but just wanted to thank the Rays for saving the sanity of both their own and the Yankee fan base, as neither one of us could have taken another Sox WS.
Great baseball though all around, Boston brought all they had, Lester was more than capable, but Garza put that team on his back last night. He sort of reminds me of Smoltz, in that Glavine and Maddux had the sexier numbers, ala Shields and Kaz, but when you needed a W, you went with Smoltz or Garza.
As a baseball fan, I'm happy with Phillies/Rays, as I think thats the best possible BASEBALL series we could have had of all the combinations this season. Two well rounded teams with definite contradictory strengths and this should be a great one.
Congrats to Cappy and all you Rays fans, you deserve it and you should be proud of your team! Great job!

I numbed up on the last play. It took me a second to realize that was indeed the final out. If I would have been Iwamura I might have just stood there not knowing what to do.
