I love that movie. Wasn't a great movie, but he was great in it.it was supposed to be Sherman McCoy in Bonfire of the Vanities. he couldnt carry it off and that ruined any chance the Book of the Generation had to be a good film
Could be. But why didn't he name the person? He didn't pull any punches on anyone else. The Rock perhaps?
Maybe due to the size of the Rock? He avoided ripping Jason Momoa also.Could be. But why didn't he name the person? He didn't pull any punches on anyone else.
The joke was "we all know who it is" when of course we don't because it's many. For example he could have made the same joke about plastic surgery. Sassing the room/industry is the shtick.Could be. But why didn't he name the person? He didn't pull any punches on anyone else.
My first thought was Pitt, due to the scene on the roof in Once Upon a Time. A 56 year old dude probably needs a bit of help to look like that.Could be. But why didn't he name the person? He didn't pull any punches on anyone else.
Not nearly enough love for Salma in here. She has always been #1 on my list and she never disappoints. She's unbelievable.
I think we get the idea. Not nearly enough love for Salma in here. She has always been #1 on my list and she never disappoints. She's unbelievable.
Like Ricky says: Eff emI was shocked (honestly, not pretending here) that the media tore into Gervais for his opening. As much as I dislike most actors, even they seemed to understand they were jokes. But the media was not impressed.
And look, I know I shouldn't be surprised by the media anymore. But I would've thought that as long as Hollywood was OK with the ribbing, so would've been the media.Like Ricky says: Eff em
when considering Miss Hayek, the tendency is to think in twos..I think we get the idea.![]()
I don’t think people were super offended. Just tired of his routine as that happens with every comic. Also seems weird to agree to host a show and then spend the whole time saying how stupid the show is and how painful it is being there. It’s a rich guy telling all the other rich people there not to talk about climate change or poverty or whatever while spending the night complaining about how boring his hosting gig that likely paid more than most American make in a year.I was shocked (honestly, not pretending here) that the media tore into Gervais for his opening. Huh...I haven't heard negative media response enough to post it here as a thing. And look, I know I shouldn't be surprised by the media anymore. But I would've thought that as long as Hollywood was OK with the ribbing, so would've been the media.
Felt like modern family won a lotWhen was the last time a network won a golden globe for TV anything? I tend to remember Tina Fey winning some maybe.
But that's the shtick. He's basically just saying don't take yourselves too seriously. And again, almost everyone in attendance is fine with it. I don't know if I've ever seen a celebrity complain about him.I don’t think people were super offended. Just tired of his routine as that happens with every comic. Media outlets have an interest in being shocked, SHOCKED. It gets them more clicks than "Ricky poked fun at actors and celebrity in general, and everybody was mostly cool with it"But that's the shtick. He's basically just saying don't take yourselves too seriously. And again, almost everyone in attendance is fine with it. I don't know if I've ever seen a celebrity complain about him.

If the BBC counts as a network, they won a few globes with Killing Eve.When was the last time a network won a golden globe for TV anything? I tend to remember Tina Fey winning some maybe.
Loved that movieIlov80s said:What’s the worst character he ever played? Road to Perdition?
From the negatives I saw and my own feelings, it was just boredom with his schtick. Which happens with almost every comedian. But that's the shtick. No worries, GB. Totally understand that. From the negatives I saw and my own feelings, it was just boredom with his schtick. Which happens with almost every comedian.
The media "tore into him"?I was shocked (honestly, not pretending here) that the media tore into Gervais for his opening. As much as I dislike most actors, even they seemed to understand they were jokes. But the media was not impressed.
Yes. So much so that he actually went onto Twitter to defend himself. He was being called a "right wing comedian", which is hilarious if you know anything about his views. The media "tore into him"?
My news feed- across many sites and viewpoints- had nothing the day after when I looked to see if he said anything else funny and to check who won. That's why I asked earlier. But of course my news feed doesn't cover everything....Yes. So much so that he actually went onto Twitter to defend himself. Maybe just me and Ricky noticed. If so, that's our bad.

Extras is one of the most underrated shows ever. I keep saying I'm going to go back and rewatch it, but it's so painful. Extremely hilarious. But painful. This may be a good series to watch with my wife.Anyone willing to do this to himself has earned a long leash IMO.
I find the news interesting... I try to view different sources and idea so my Google news feed doesn't turn into a monotone. Of course Ricky will hear stuff about himself...I'm curious why your and my news feeds vary so differently that yours saw this as the media tearing into him and mine was crickets.Again, maybe just me and Ricky noticed, GB.![]()
I assume by “worst,” you mean a bad guy from a humanistic standpoint, yes? What’s the worst character he ever played? Road to Perdition?
This is Ricky's schtick, it is known.Yes. So much so that he actually went onto Twitter to defend himself. He was being called a "right wing comedian", which is hilarious if you know anything about his views.

You are correct in what I was saying. Ultimately most actors are somewhat limited in the roles they can pull off.I assume by “worst,” you mean a bad guy from a humanistic standpoint, yes?
If so, Road to Perdition is a good pick, and even in that flick, he’s a bad guy who’s still the protagonist, one who has honor and standards.
Hanks is a living legend, but I don’t think he could play a vile character and do it well. He has said he has avoided roles like that because he can’t relate to them. But he’s not the first great actor who doesn’t do every kind of role possible, so I don’t hold it against him. He has far too many great performances and films.

Agreed. This discussion made me revisit that Clive Owen scene. So many LOL moments in the show: https://vimeo.com/93453854Extras is one of the most underrated shows ever.
