***Official Golden Globes Thread*** (1 Viewer)

so in a way this thread is  emblematic of the ffa circa 2017. Streep makes her speech and comments are put forth here in context with the golden Globes. Simple comments and the thread organically moved forward with the show. Then some wonderfully enlightened people here rush in to defend her and use it as a platform . Might as well give this thread the final rights

he's giving the people what they want. Very shrewd tacit.
Can't really argue the first part.

I can't get past the part where our president has to chime in on comments made at the Golden Globes in such a #####-like manner but maybe I'm just old school that way.

I think it means you're a functioning adult.

I can't believe that even the strongest Trump supporters aren't embarrassed by this type of behavior. And it clearly isn't going to stop. Can't the Koch Brothers or whoever's really running the Republican party put a lid on this?

Hope Meryl Streep is happy. She's been on that stage 106 times, but her babbling has the whole show behind and costing everyone else their likely one moment to be heard.
I though the part where she started to choke up was some of her best acting in the last 10 years...

Apparently, “Roma” is something to see.

Also: why does the Director seemingly take a victory lap every time he wins?

Happy to see Bohemian Rhapsody win best picture and Malek win best actor....one of only a few memorable films this year imho.

Didn't notice that so much as Cuaron having the remarkable young lady, Yalitza Aparicio - who played his lead (an abstraction of his mama, apparently) so naturalistically - sitting right next to him and hugging her so non-Hollywoodianly

Ricky Gervais is back. The last time he did it he had toned it down a bit.
I like the laid back drunken approach to the Globes but I wish there was someone funnier and more current than Gervais. He just seems to be doing the same bit forever now where he just tries to be mean to get a reaction more than to even be funny.

Russell Crowe (not in attendance) with the first political statement about climate control. Oofff

Such a weird dynamic.  I'm sure a lot of them would find it funny but its like they can't laugh b/c unlike Ricky who gets a pass b/c he's, um Ricky, if they laugh they're tacitly agreeing with what he's saying in the eyes of the twitter cops.
