The best part of the game for me is still just running up and knocking people the #### out one after another. I just giggle like a madman the whole time.

Also, now that I have the stun gun doing the same with that is also awesome.

I enjoy plowing through a crowded sidewalk at full speed, bodies, newspapers, signs and light poles flying everywhere. Those screams are hilarious.

Also I love going to the beach to talk to the women in bikinis. After they tell me to go to hell, so fun to stab them repeatedly as they lay there motionless in the sand.

I need to hit the beach again.

Wish I had a stun gun. Although I will say that Michael's golf club has become my favorite weapon of the game.

KOing people is fun, but it also highlights how they've changed the AI when it comes to police. I remember you could knock people out left and right in previous games without the cops batting an eye. Now, you KO two people and cops are on your ### faster than you can say Rodney King.

I wish I could set someone on fire with the jerry can, but I haven't been able to yet.

Yeah, it's still funny to walk up to a group of people and start dumping gasoline around them and watch them scream and run away. It also doesn't seem to trigger aggro... I wonder what would happen if you did it to a cop..

I think you just need to work fast and leave no witnesses. I've dropped 5-6 without the cops coming before.

Oh, and wanted to add... the one spot in the ocean with the crashed plane that people are farming money... you can get RPGs close by before they are available for sale.
Close as in which way?
The crashed airplane is up by Paletto Bay on the northwest most coast. Aways off the end of that peninsula of beach just south of the city. I normally set a marker off the direction the peninsula points, about as far as out as the same line of latitude as the garages in the nearby city.

Find the crashed tail section. In front of it on the edge of the little hill is the money case. While floating at the money case, face back towards the open part of the airplane tail section, then turn about 90 degrees to your right and not too far away you will see an arch with the opening facing towards you. RPG is lying on the bottom, right before you start to go under the arch. If you go at night the little glow thing that items do makes it easy to spot. There are two arches in the area, the one with the RPG you can see from the money case, while the other is closer to you but the opening isn't visible from the money case.

If you have decent stamina and lung capacity you can get the RPG and money both on one breath, then switch characters and repeat until you max your ammo.

There is also a grenade, a submachine gun and an assault rifle lying around the plane in the other direction than the arch. Though nothing you can't buy and max out ammo with the money from one money case, so not really worth the effort. Similarly, if you swim a lot further in the direction the plane was heading, you'll find the rest of the plane and body armor, medkit, etc. But all of it is stuff you can already buy cheaply enough. So fun to explore but not really worth farming. I maxed out my lung capacity exploring the whole area.

That's awesome! Thanks for the info!

When you say farming money, how much are we talking about? I don't really care about owning every property,it it would be fun.

Does every property have missions attached? I've only done the airfield to run guns with Trevor.

I only have the smoke shop, the airfield you mentioned, the bar up in that northwestern town and the LAX hangar... the missions for the smoke shop and bar are more random than the smuggling ones that are always there. Occasionally you get a text about needing a pick up or someone stealing something and you have to go catch a vehicle or pick one up at a location and bring it in. The smuggling is way more fun

Oh cool... did you guys know that you can save anywhere in the game from your phone as long as you're not in a mission?

Where are you people getting the $$ to buy $419,000 helipads?

I've just done the first mission for Soloman -

And I have the helicopter you steal from the agent. Where can I put it to save it?

Also please tell me missions start paying money. Michael is the only guy with over 100K and that's because he returned the bike to the guy who owns the petfood company. Trevor's heist was garbage. Most missions don't pay squat. The stock market is a crapshoot and more off than on. Where are you Sadoffs finding the dough? Please tell me there's a mission coming up that actually pays something.

I. Did. Not. Know. That. :)

Ever since my first stick up attempt, the police have always been alerted. What gives? Is the clerk pushing the alarm?

I kicked an Indian into his camp fire. Good times :)

Just a head's up. Last time I was playing, I was cruising around in my boat when a red dot appeared off the starboard side. I thought I just stumbled on to some hidden gem and jumped in the water. Turns out that red dot is a shark. If I could have, I would have done the Richard Pryor run on water trick from The Toy, my adrenaline was pumping so fast. Got back in the boat and shot it. Highly disappointed I couldn't recover the carcass.

Also, regarding Trevor's boat heist -

Nice effing plan ripping off an experimental weapon from the U.S. government, you idiot. I was expecting a huge payday from that.
The FIB are a bunch of frigging cheapskates imo. It's always something with them (mainly Steve) so they don't have to pay you. I wish you could just shoot that ******* Steve in the dome and be done with it...

Actually, I wish you could just stab him multiple times and then be done with it. Stab him a bunch of times and then maybe boot stomp him a couple times for good measure.

Seriously, though... I can't even fathom how much more frigging addicting this damn game is going to be when the online portion launches October 1st (next Tuesday, whoop, whoop!). Speaking of which, has anyone created an FBG crew yet? If not, anyone who's interested should head on over to http://socialclub.rockstargames.com and sign up for an account (if you haven't already) in order to be eligible.

Each crew has a hierarchy that consists of a Leader, Commissioners, Lieutenants, Representatives and Muscle. There can be multiple crew members for each position, save for the leader. They head up the entire organization.

Clearly if we're going to start up an FBG crew then we're going to need to have some kind of elaborate election process to see who's going to get voted as the leader (and in turn, who'll get to be Commissioners and Lieutenants right off the bat). I'm not nominating myself and, frankly, don't want to be a leader, but I'll gladly handle the logistics and planning if more than a few people are interested in this aspect of the game.

I'm envisioning some kind of election process where one person will be backed as a leader and whoever teams up with him can be promised lucrative ranks should whoever they're backing actually be elected. Basically, it could be an elegant, deliciously entertaining mixture of Big Brother, a gangland/mafioso election and the FFA. (As Emeril would say, OH YEAH BABE!)

Does this sound super fun and entertaining to anyone else or am I just being a weirdo? If anyone's interested then let me know and I'll create another thread to contain all the posturing, double-crossing, back-stabbing and blatant brown-nosing. There's a lot of potential here boys and girls -- definitely enough at least to help make the wait for GTA Online's launch next Tuesday go by a lot more quickly and easily.

I got over a half mil for Michael from the diamond heist. If you didn't, maybe you could replay it?

That's how I bought the helipad.

I got $799k. Immediately put some in Ammu-Nation, supposedly a steady grower. Going to shop for properties tonight.

Is there any difference between the $70 and $100 option with the ladies of the night? I haven't noticed any.

Planning heists? ####. I'm still rolling around jacking cars, hanging out in strip clubs, taking strippers home, and buying prostitutes. I gotta get my act together.

Hey, look! It's a bird, it's a plane, no it's...

... yet another super elaborate, lengthy and moderately difficult FIB pseudo-heist that pays mere peanuts! Hip, hip... hooray... :kicksrock:

Fool me once? Shame on you. Fool me twice? Shame on me. Fool me seven times? #### it, better call Saul Trevor!

ETA: Although parachuting on top of the building from eight hundred some-odd leagues above the sea was pretty cool. Even if it did take me practically 5-6 different times to finally get it right and not bludgeon myself to death on the sides/roof of the building.

I could be doing something wrong, but since I've finished the story I've done some replaying to get all gold on the missions and it is separate from where you're at in the game now. So money doesn't accumulate and you have the same amount of cash you had back then... but you DO have all your new abilities and your current arsenal as well.

A chick on the street asked me to come help as she ran in an alley yesterday. I thought that it was fishy and sure enough, they robbed me...

Well, up until I shot them both in the back with my silenced carbine.

Apologies if posted already

"Grand Theft Auto Online" will feature a complex virtual economy that allows gamers to spend real-world money to get their hands on in-game cash, Rockstar Games said this week, heralding a rocky start for the new game.

The addition of in-game purchases makes "GTA Online," the first game in Rockstar's wildly popular carjacking series to introduce e-commerce. And for all the hype about the new game, which launches Oct. 1, these microtransactions are the one feature giving even die-hard GTA fans pause. This kind of e-commerce is typically seen in free-to-play games such as the new "Plants Vs. Zombies" mobile game — freemium apps that are heavily criticized for focusing more on hitting players up for cash every few seconds rather than actually giving them something fun to play with. Gamers have already spent upwards of $60 on the new "GTA V," which makes additional costs hard to stomach. The unpopularity of in-game purchases was underlined last week when fewllo game industry giant Activision Blizzard announced that it was removing its own e-commerce solution from "Diablo 3," after a year's worth of headaches and player complaints.

As if in response to gamer concerns, Rockstar said that microtransactions were designed to give players an added convenience if they did not have the time or energy to unlock everything at their own pace.

"The game and its economy have been designed and balanced for the vast majority of players who will not buy extra cash," Rockstar said. "There is no in-game paywall and nothing that should disrupt the balance of the game. You don't have to spend real money to attain the cars, guns, clothes, flash and style of a high-roller in Los Santos, but can if you wish to get them a little quicker. The economy is balanced differently from the single player economy, and cash earned in one cannot be taken over to the other. Most players will earn cash much faster Online than in Story Mode."

It's not clear how much these currency packs will cost, but a report from the British gaming site Eurogamer said they will range from around $3 to $22 and be available in denominations of $100,000, $200,000, $500,000 and $1.25 million.

Rockstar warned of "typical growing pains for an online game, including but not limited to crashes, glitches, crazy bugs, gameplay modes and mechanics that need re-balancing and other surprises!" Still, for fans of "GTA V," there's a lot to be excited about, includeing new vehicles, cooperative heist missions, and competitive sports of all shapes and sizes . The game will even come with a content creator which allows players to make their own in-game levels for racing or good old fashion death-match killing.

To start, "GTA Online" will support up to 16 players in a given game and only be accessible through "GTA V," though Rockstar North president and longtime GTA producer Leslie Benzies has said that the company plans to eventually turn it into its own operation.

"GTA Online" launches through the "online" section of "Grand Theft Auto V" on Oct. 1. "Grand Theft Auto V" was first released to widespread critical acclaim on Sept. 17, setting a new game industry sales records when it earned more than $1 billion in just three days on the market.

How do you replay the diamond heist mission? I think I only got like 250k.

And I'm guessing the PS3 and Xbox online stuff will be separate right?

Diamond heist I took like 4.2 mil, I think Michael is coming away with like 800K or something. Have to recheck it. I used that dumb hacker from LifeInvader, a crap shooter and the good driver.

So in addition to the basic stuff you'd expect to be on the crew creation page (name, in-game abbreviation/acronym, primary color, invite only or not, etc. etc.), there's also an option to select your crew's "type."

I imagine this'll probably be most helpful when someone is trying to search for available public crews that fall in line with how they want to play the game cooperatively.

But anyway, because I'm so very kind and thoughtful, I've provided the five different crew types along with their official Social Club descriptions for you all below (you're welcome, friend!):

>> Chatter Boxes

"For the gregarious socialites of the Rockstar Games Social Club. Shoot the gift."

>> Thrill Seekers

"For the free roamers, BASE jumpers, and others who prefer anarchic mayhem to ranking up and getting cheevos."

>> Rebels

"They're here to get the party started or to ruin it -- sometimes both."

>> Soldiers

"Those who know the only way to win -- by showing your enthusiasm for teamwork... Teamwork."

>> All-Stars

"The elite who strive to hit the top of the Leaderboards and want to play with and against the very best."

If I had to venture a guess for what the general consensus for the FBG crew would be, I'd probably lean towards either thrill seekers or rebels. Although I imagine a lot of people would want to solely be a soldier-esque group, too.

Too bad you can't combine two or more different crew types, though, because I think a thrill-seeking, rebellious chatter box group with homicidal tendencies and a penchant for destructive airborne shenanigans would fit our collective group psyche quite nicely.

Also, in the interests of starting up the discussion/debate regarding the FBG/FFA crew, what does everyone think would be a solid, super gangster name?

Actually, on second thought, let's discuss everything -- here's all of the initial crew creation decisions you have to make:

1. Name (up to 20 total characters)

2. In-game shorthand name abbreviation/acronym (up to 4 total characters)

3. Crew color (can be pretty much any color your little interior-designing heart's ever desired)

4. Invite only (basically provides a password to join the group so we won't have to worry about any unwanted peeps upsetting our little apple cart)

5. Crew type (choose between: chatter boxes, thrill seekers, rebels, soldiers and all-stars)

6. Crew motto (up to 64 total characters)

Let the brainstorming and debate begin!

Jgalligan> count me in for a crew. Simple muscle is fine by me, no ranking wanted.

ETA:

1. Name (up to 20 total characters) Don't Care

2. In-game shorthand name abbreviation/acronym (up to 4 total characters) DC?

3. Crew color (can be pretty much any color your little interior-designing heart's ever desired)DC?

4. Invite only (basically provides a password to join the group so we won't have to worry about any unwanted peeps upsetting our little apple cart) YES - FFA only

5. Crew type (choose between: chatter boxes, thrill seekers, rebels, soldiers and all-stars) 1. Thrill seekers 2. Rebel

6. Crew motto (up to 64 total characters) Don't Care

Okay co op play might be enough to get me to buy this game. What does Co-Op play entail anyway?

Damn you guys.... I've not bought a game in almost a decade and I'm about to buy this one.

$59.95 everywhere? Is it still impossible to find or will my local target/Best buy have it? I think im gonna buy it tonight...

I keep failing the stunt jumps at the airport. No idea what the goal is. Typically I fly straight up in the air and come down sideways.
The one that launches you towards the parking garage, took me a dozen tries but I finally completed it when I made a 4-wheel landing on the top of the parking garage. Several times I landed on the little wall atop the garage and didn't get success on the jump.

The time I succeeded, I used a fast car and came all the way down the ramp from the highway at high speed. Then just use left stick to make sure you land on 4 tires. I was actually sideways a little bit which was fine, I guess you just to land flat.

Edit to add: The one on the other side of the circle, I don't know if you have to land on the expressway, or jump over it. I'm guessing jump over it completely. I did land on it once but don't know if I had a 4 point landing.
