***Official***GTA V thread... (1 Viewer)

I'm far enough into this that I feel like I can confidently say that this is hands-down the best open world game that I've ever played. It's not just that it's by far the best GTA (and a great rebound from a disappointing GTA4), it's also clearly better than Red Dead, Skyrim, Oblivion, Batman, inFamous, etc. IMO.
I have it up there with Just Cause 2. I think I liked JC2 so much because there was a reason to go almost everywhere on the map. Plus the hidden collectibles were shown on your map. I could easily go back and play that game again and again. But GTA5 is close to up there.

I should point out I'm about 75% through the story and about 50% through the game.

Just got killed by a cougar while running around at night in the mountains. Was not expecting that.
Happens all the time when hunting with Trevor. It got so annoying (how many freaking mountain lions are there in one small radius?), that I quit the hunting missions, despite the fun of Trevor sucking on Cletus' grandmother's diaphragm.

Franklin and Michael are now Eskimo brothers
:lmao:

I still prefer Oblivion, Skyrim, Fallout 3, etc. Though agree this is a great game, and best in the GTA line in a long time.

For folks doing the stock market, I noticed that after blowing up Zuckerburg's head, that LifeInvader fell as low as 3.41. After that it rebounded a bit and got as high as 4.9 that I noticed. Wish I'd bought some at that price, that would have been about a 45% return.

Since then I've seen it bounce as low as 3.55 and as high as 4.8 again. I've seen it move from like 4.1 to 3.55 in the span of about 20 minutes including some sleep-saves and checking the price each time after. And then reloaded so I could sell my 4.1 stock and wait for it to hit 3.55 again and instead it went the other direction and climbed to 4.75 within 20 minutes. So timing it might be a pain, but with the price so low, a change of even a half dollar can bring a nice return.

Has anyone modified a character's stock vehicle? And if so, does the mod persist in each new version of the vehicle that gets spawned?

Yeah. I'm one of the guys who hasn't visited a garage, barbershop, tattoo parlor or a clothing store (unless needed for a mission). Not sure the appeal of it.

I was browsing a game faqs walk through and seen a "Bigfoot" reference.

Have any of you found him or is this just another SA Mt. Chiliad Bigfoot myth?

Bulletproof tired and armor on your vehicle. It persists too. Well worth it if you have numerous encounters with the cops as I do.

Keep playing imo. He's out there.

You can get a fleeting glance of him in a mission.

And my understanding is that you can do more "Messin' With Sasquatch" if you 100% the game.

One of my favorite parts so far of the game:

When Michael smokes the weed and what he sees.

When Trevor smokes the weed and what he sees.

When Franklin smoke the weed and what he sees. :lmao:

I noticed this as well. It's very random with how it jumps around, but I've made money off of it. The stock only fell to $5.80 on my game, but it jumps between low $6s and high $7s over and over again. I buy every time I see it below $6.20 and sell once it hits $7.80. Once I bought at $6.12 and didn't check for awhile and found it at $9.04. Made a good profit there. Been slowly building my stash this way. Went from about $1 million total between the guys to around $5 million total so far just in manipulating this one stock.

Bulletproof tires and the Armor upgrades come in handy. From my experience it seems that the armor upgrades let you take more damage on your vehicle before it actually starts to break up.

Here's the current updated list. Everyone's gamertag is in parentheses next to their FBG name and anyone who's name is bolded is officially all joined up and a member. And remember everyone, online kicks off tomorrow (might even kick off tonight at midnight, not sure). so quit your dilly-dallying!

Interesting. I'll have to check it out.

Also just as a heads up, I'm starting off everyone in the very first rank and will then be promoting people based on performance, gameplay contributions and all that good stuff. That way there's room to be promoted and something to work for. Just wanted everyone to know so they weren't wondering why they were stuck at the Muscle ranking. (Blatant, super cheesy compliments, brown-nosing and bribes will, of course, be accepted and factored into how quickly people rank up... just kidding! As far as you know...)

Alternatively, we could all vote on a handful of people who will be promoted to either Representative or Lieutenants from the get-go. Or, if no one likes this or thinks it's a good idea at all, I can just promote everyone from the start, but seriously, where would the fun be in that?

Any feedback on this particular aspect of the crew will be much appreciated, so let's hear everyone's opinions!

Yeah, the modifications persist each time the character's stock vehicle respawns.

On that note, I stole the Bugatti and drove it out to Franklin's repair place. Put everything top end on it and was driving it back to park it in a garage for later use. Come upon a nice gentleman who was stranded and needed a ride. So, I stopped to help out and he jacked my car. Damn thing was so fast that there was no way I was going to catch up. :wall:

Cool, thanks man. All invited!

Oh and also, we have to choose our official crew "action". (Think flipping the bird in-game when you don't have a weapon.)

The choices are:

Bro Love: Basically making a fist and tapping a few times on your heart to show mutual, no-homo-esque "one love" mutually between our crew.

The Bird: Same as the default middle finger, but instead flipping the finger with BOTH hands. Quite an impressive multi-tasking feat.

Jerk: Similar to flipping the bird, but instead making a fist and making a jacking off motion to simulate masturbation/jacking someone else off.

Up Yours: The universally known and beloved sign in which you make a fist with both hands and then uppercut one arm so it hits the other and you're initial arm is overlapping under and over the secondary arm. This is probably the worst description ever, but hopefully it makes sense/you know what I'm talking about.

I personally vote for Bro Love, mainly because I think the vast majority of other crews are going to be going with the more vulgar other actions, and we ARE rebels, after all, you guys!

Yeah, Rockstar is (and will continue to be making/uploading) online-specific missions we can all team up in groups of two, three or four's to complete. We can also just mess around and try to manipulate the stock market, race each other, just cause mass carnage and mayhem and -- my favorite -- we can actually case, plan and execute our very own heists on a multitude of different pre-eligible locations around Los Santos.

Oh, and we can also do 2 vs 2, 3 vs 3, 4 vs 4 or 8 vs 8 deathmatches against other crews. This is the primary method in which we'll help our crew rise up the Rockstar leader boards (in addition to completing missions and doing other things that will net us all experience and total experience for the crew). It's more RPG-y than the offline game in that we can all customize our guys using experience points gained to boost our stats (in addition to boosting them the normal way by just doing the action/skills in question a lot just like in the offline game).

Yeah, pretty much... but at least we'll have each other! *beats his chest bro love style*

Okay, I joined. So, when we play the online version, will we have a choice to go to a server/world with our crew on it or something?

This was probably covered, but are we all (PS3 and XBox users) going to be in one crew? Or is there a PS3 crew and an XBox crew?

I don't see how Rockstar doesn't release this for the systems. It would be genius thinking on their part to get people to buy the copy for PS3/current XBOX and then have to buy it again in the next few months. I think I should have waited to buy this :kicksrock:

What would be genius is if the do something along the lines of what EA/DICE are doing for Battlefield 4. If you buy BF4 for current gen and then upgrade to next gen you get BF4 for the new console for $10. I believe there is a window in which to take advantage of this though.

Would spread alot of good will if Rockstar did this too.

We're all one crew, but Xbox 360 and PS3 players will be playing separately. All of our stats and rankings will be combined into our one crew, though.

As for the worlds/servers, depending on how many people end up being in the crew, I'd say we'll probably have two maaaaaaaybe three servers/worlds for the Xbox 360 people and then one maaaaaaybe two servers/worlds for the PS3 dorks peeps.

That is smart marketing by EA, didn't know that. On the other hand, people have been waiting YEARS for this GTA. Despite the fact that the new consoles are due out soon, this game had $1B+ in the first three days. If they don't offer a similar upgrade like BF4, could people who bought this game resist buying it again? I don't see how they could not buy another copy once multiplayer develops.

My social club ID is ScoobyGang. I doubt I'd play more than the occasional mission on account of not playing at night and generally sucking.
It's all good, there's so many different things that factor into our crew's experience points and ranking, that you could legit JUST be good at taking pictures on the in-game cell phone and we could just use you when we case out potential heists and have you take the pictures. The more the merrier, though, so even if you suck at absolutely everything, you're still welcome to come on and #### around with the rest of us. Invite sent!

Yeah, GTA Online is eventually going to be a completely separate entity down the road. So I imagine it'll be released separately as GTA: Online for the next-gen systems, probably a few months after the systems' launch, though, since they're going to first need to work out the kinks/bugs for the current-gen versions and then factor/transfer/translate that code over into the next-gen versions.

Since both my xbox and ps3 are connected to my rockstar social club ID I think I may have an issue. My xbox ID is Trefor3, but PS3 is TREsmash. I'll be playing on the PS3.

Just getting started playing GTAV. One of my main disappointments (aside from gun aim being crap again) is that cars don't have GPS like they did in most high end cars in GTAIV. What I did in GTAIV was turn off the mini-map directions, so that I could immerse myself into the city, and when I didn't know where I was going, that got me looking for cars that had GPS. I learned the city much faster than when I would keep my eyes on the mini-map the whole drive. Not an option in this game, even though it tries to mirror real life and most cars come with them standard now.

I also wish I could better tell whose mission I'm walking up to. I see a marker on the street and head for it and then it turns out it's a mission that's triggered by the other character.

Anyway, minor complaints aside, it's still a great game and can see that it's gonna take away from me playing the BF4 beta.

The aiming is a lot better/more enjoyable imo if you go to the settings and change it to Free Aim. You definitely need to tweak the sensitivity settings so you can move the aiming cursor around faster, but that's more of a matter of preference. I definitely recommend switching to Free Aim, though. Not only does it make it more challenging, it also helps it feel much more like an actual shooter.

The missions are color coded.

And you can turn off GPS in the settings.

I don't remember if it was like this before all three were unlocked, but each character's missions are a different color on the mini-map. Trevor's orange, Michael's blue, and Frank's green I believe.

Just noticed on the ifruit app that I can look at my stats for each character. Pretty neat:

Trevor (31% used) -- 451 kills, 46 cops killed, top speed 101.47 mph, 306k in cash

Franklin (37% used) -- 187 kills, 9 cops killed, top speed 142.34 mph, 692k in cash

Michael (32% used) -- 313 kills, 23 cops killed, top speed 116.54 mph, $4k in cash

Need to buy something with Franklin or invest that ish.

I know this. It's irrelevant. My complaint is that cars don't have them in it. In GTAIV, you could turn off the waypoint/GPS settings for mini-map, but still choose cars that have GPS to jack for immersion.

I didn't really notice a color difference. I'll see if I can tell when I play again. But thanks for the tip.
