Sorry if it's been mentioned earlier, but if one had to chose between PS3 or XBox360, which would you chose (and why)?

Don't have either console at the current moment but what I've seen of this game, that may change shortly.

If you're picking up a console just for GTA, just go with whatever console is cheaper, factoring in the $60 (or whatever it is) that you would have to pay for XBL Gold. In other words, if you can get a 360 for $60+ less than a PS3, then get a 360. Otherwise get the PS3.

If you're going to play other games down the road, take a look at their respective libraries. Xbox has Halo, Gears, Forza, Alan Wake, Left 4 Dead, and a few others. Playstation has Uncharted, God of War, The Last of Us, inFamous, Gran Turismo, Killzone, and a few others. Go with whichever console has the more appealing lineup.

The blu-ray player in the PS3 is the cincher for me. It's an elegant system with far less maintenance issues than the Xbox. XBox's online gaming is supposed to be a bit more reliable, but then you also have to subscribe to it.

You get what you pay for. And the 360's did have maintenance issues........over 5 years ago.

I was able to start the online game by entering SOLO, but as soon as I had to race, it crashed.

Been having issues with my TV. Unsure if I should attempt to replace the board on it or just buy a new TV. Haven't been able to use it in nearly a week though.

Btw - the online is working, it just takes FOREVER for things to load. I waited at the loading screen for the initial pine race for a good 3-4 minutes before it just kicked in.

So you have to play a race as soon as Lamar drops you off. Then it's free roam?

I think so. Right now my screen is cloudy grey but it sounds like my guy is standing curbside while cats and people walk by. Now I hear lightening. Things must be loading or failing to load.

Btw- the lightening in this game is sick. Just as realistic as the water looks.

Well, the intro with Lamar picking you up from LAX bumping some Kausion was cool... but that's as far as it'll let me go online. Gonna try in the wee hours hope there's less people slamming the servers.

I like that the different characters like different music, nice small touch. I jacked a car with Michael and two effiminate sounding men got out of the car yelling at me and when I got in it was on the Techno station. Michael said something like "what IS this crap?"

Different places in the city (Franklin's is the Grove St Garage). Just drove by, but I was in my character's main car and it said it couldn't be stored there

Probably just because of the massive overload on the servers. Poor servers... the practical weight of the world is on their little virtual shoulders.

It's pretty bad, yeah. But considering the actual gameplay itself is so deep, and you'll be able to customize your stats, appearance and clothing/accessories so much in-game, that whoever said earlier that the initial character creation process was just window dressing was spot-on.

That's just the initial intro to the online world. Once that's finished, the open online world will open up. And just like the offline version of the game, there'll be little mission markers you can go to in order to complete online-specific missions. Literally it's the same thing as offline except you're going to be sharing the online world with 15 other actual players -- and be able to team up with 1-3 other friends/players to complete the various missions/jobs.

thanks, seems like they put a lot of time into developing this online. In GTA IV it seemed kinda thrown together, and I never enjoyed it much.

Screen was frozen for a few minutes, no buttons were accessible and no prompts to push A.
