***Official***GTA V thread... (1 Viewer)

I still am not sure how the multiplayer will be. I started off with a female character being driven by the black homeboy to a race but the race would never begin and i needed to reset the xbox. What exactly are jobs? I am so lost here.
Are you guys just not waiting long enough? When the game loads up on the bottom right of the screen it tells you to push A for online.

Then it loads up....

A fairly long time, 2-5 minutes later it will load. Mine hung up a good 5 minutes after the race too.

Just let it sit and it may eventually work.

Screen was frozen for a few minutes, no buttons were accessible and no prompts to push A.
You mean when you put the disk in it doesn't even go to the title screen?

If you're talking about after it switches away from the title screen then yes.... Just wait awhile. Grab a drink or do something for 10 minutes and come back, I bet it's on.

For the record, Im on the 360.

That's just the initial intro to the online world. Once that's finished, the open online world will open up. And just like the offline version of the game, there'll be little mission markers you can go to in order to complete online-specific missions. Literally it's the same thing as offline except you're going to be sharing the online world with 15 other actual players -- and be able to team up with 1-3 other friends/players to complete the various missions/jobs.
thanks, seems like they put a lot of time into developing this online. In GTA IV it seemed kinda thrown together, and I never enjoyed it much.
Yeah, whereas in IV the online was just an extension of the game, this time it's best to think of the online version as literally its own entity. Because it is. It's GTA: Online now, as opposed to just GTA5 online multiplayer like it was with GTAIV.

Just played my first game of team deathwatch and we won! $1,700 richer and moved up to level 4!

This is so awesome but it would be much better with my fellow FBGs - where is everybody?

Best thing you can hope for is for everyone to eventually leave and you can do the race yourself without the loading crap.

Ugh - ill save my playtime for when you guys are on. I'd rather play with a bunch of you and steamroll other players then fighting 1v1 against randoms and no teamwork.

I am freezing also. I can get through the airport scene ride with Lamar and get out of his car when the random dude gets out of a car I start loading and freeze or get into a perpetual loop of walking from lamars car to the other car

I am pretty sure it was him. I am sure I'll get to rewatch it again tonight so I'll pay alot closer attention

Non-online question:

Anyone having freezing problems on the XBox when you are watching TV in a house? The last two times I was watching the tube and I tried to exit out of the TV the game froze. Just wondering if this is a glitch I have to worry about or that my counsole is just one of the older ones that will have this small issue every now and then? (Which is fine with me. I save religiously whenever I play any game out of fear of the various death issues that arise with all video game systems as it is without question the most annoying thing in my video game playing life to have to replay something I already did because of a game freezing. )

That happened to me once as Franklin (I had been watching for something like 15 minutes).

only watched TV once and didnt have a problem, but once is a small sample size.

I watched a foriegn film in the theater last night. Wow. WTF. That was weird.

Its amazing the little details they put into the game. The depth of it all.

Have gotten motion sickness the last 2 times I've played the game (Just driving around on mountain roads uncovering a bunch of the map)

Is this thread morphing into online talk stuff now?
It appears that way. I think I may be done with this thread, seeing as how I don't play online. :kicksrock:
I hope it doesn't. I just started this last night and got 2 hours in.So far I am driving a little better (compared to GTA IV), but I am still trying to learn the controls. I had a bunch of mistakes just clicking on the wrong button on multiple occasions. Does it matter if I only get 50% on a mission, even though I pass?

Driving is so much more fun than GTAIV, it's ridiculous. Like I said before, if this were just a driving game, it'd be solid.

It doesn't matter if you don't get 100% on a mission. It's just a way to make the game more replayable for perfectionists (think how Angry Birds has its 3-star system).

I haven't done a mission yet but I have accidentally jump out of moving vehicles

I'm also really good at trying to change characters and pulling out a weapon instead. Or trying to change the radio station and firing my weapon indiscriminately into the cars in front of me.

Wait until you accidentally jump out of a helicopter, lol.

I accidentally jumped out of the little airliner on my first successful steal. I was trying to retract the landing gear

I have been moving slowly with the missions, just got Trevor last night. Its amazing how different his whole area is from the other two characters, its almost like he's a separate game as of now. Love the multiple characters, at first I thought it was just shtick, now they got something that other games will start copying all the time.

Driving is massively better in this game that GTA IV. And someone posted that each car just feels different with the controls and that it is really really true.

I haven't really cared what I get on a mission as I advance the story. I was focusing on making money on the market and have everyone with enough stash now that I can buy and upgrade pretty much any available weapon to the max so with that I've been moving the story more. It really is a ton of fun how each character has a different feel and playability - and the switching between characters has been awesome. I have come to the conclusion that they need to remake Vice City with this ability. Imagine the possibilities.

Yup, did that when I had to grab the big heli from the base with Trevor. Was trying to steer the damnable thing and jumped out. Funny thing was I was right at that height where I had time to pull the ripcord, but not enough for the shute to do any good - think the guy in a red shirt in the first Star Trek remake that got zapped. That was Trevor in that one. Learned my lesson.

And let me just add to this - the replay mission option when you fail is absolutely perfect. It's without question a top 3 reason this game is awesome. Not having to go through the entire thing every time is a mssive bonus.

Agreed. I read an article where they were interviewing a Rockstar employee and he said that was one of the biggest complaints and they wanted to fix that aspect. I think they made a wonderful call.

Same here. I don't even own the game yet though. I'm just a glutton for punishment and filing things away in my head for when I start the story.

Same here. When I heard that they were doing this, the whole thing just screamed "gimmick." It actually works really well though and advances the story in a way that would be hard to do otherwise.

PS3 had a required update for the game today.

At lunch I was using the sub for the first time, and stopped by the money suitcase and RPG by the crashed plane. Tried the switch characters and back so I could load up on RPG ammo.

Doesn't seem to work anymore. Must have fixed the glitch in the update.
looks like there are some character specific garages added along with the update.
Where at?
.

Different places in the city (Franklin's is the Grove St Garage). Just drove by, but I was in my character's main car and it said it couldn't be stored there
That was there before the update. Michael and Franklin each had one.

Since online started, I find it is often impossible to get Bawsdaq prices to update in single player. Have quit and reloaded 10 times now, can't get it to show prices. And all my cash are in HAL and PIS.

I mostly played missions during my 2 hours yesterday, as I figured I would get tips on controls and such and learn some of the layout of the city. I found I had a hard time keeping up with both the GPS and driving when things went fast, but I figure I will get used to it.

One thing I found odd though is that with the first character I chased down a pick pocket and knocked him out, but the cops shot me (!)... just found that a little odd, as I was expecting to get a reward.

Is the only way to make money going to the repo place or the car shop?

Try cycling and switch to each character, walking or driving for a few minutes with each and then try. And make sure you're signed in/connected online during it as well (obviously).

Oh, and I'm not sure I am even close to taking anything online... I need to learn how to not hit buses, pedestrians and traffic signals first.

That's weird... I never saw them. And I beat all the missions and got the credits so a big glowing colorful place on the map would really standout to me.

ETA: Trevor has one too (in the city, not desert)... did he not before?
