Money in the BankGiven some of the recent technical issues during these first days of GTA Online, and now that things are starting to look much smoother (touch wood!), we are planning to provide a special stimulus package for all who have played or will play Grand Theft Auto Online this month. We will be dropping a cool half a million GTA$ in the GTA Online bank accounts of all players this month, starting as early as next week.‘Don’t Spend It All in One Place!’In order to keep the current worldwide in-game economy balanced, we will be providing this GTA$ to players via two deposits of $250,000. We will announce specific dates as soon as possible, but are currently hoping to be able to make the first deposit by the end of next week (after we’ve confirmed that issues causing game progress loss have been fixed) with the second installment to happen by the end of the month. For players who experienced cloud server errors, connection issues, and lost game progress and characters in these first days of GTA Online, we hope this GTA$ helps to facilitate a fresh start or makes your continued life in Los Santos and Blaine County extra sweet.Below are a few more details on how it will work. Stay tuned for tips on how to make the most of GTA$ cash, info on ways and places to earn more cash fast, as well as updates on all the new GTA Online content additions we’re working on for this fall and beyond. You must play or have played Grand Theft Auto Online at any time during the month of October 2013 in order to qualify for the GTA$500,000 deposit in your in-game bank account.

Players will first have to install a forthcoming GTAV title update which we expect to happen next week. That title update (1.04) is expected to fix the remaining instances of issues that have caused vehicle purchase loss and will also enable the functionality through which we’ll be providing this GTA$ stimulus cash to players. We will announce at the Rockstar Newswire when each deposit is made.

Each of the two GTA$250,000 deposits will be made by Rockstar and should automatically appear in the in-game GTA Online bank accounts of eligible players. Beyond downloading the forthcoming title update mentioned above, there should not be any additional special action required by eligible players to redeem.
Oh. Well, shoot, guess I'm going to need to play a little bit so I'll be eligible.

I wasn't planning on doing any online until I finish the main story, but I'll have to make a little detour now.

I'm excited for tonight. I'm hoping to finish the story either tonight or tomorrow. I start playing at 9 on Friday until about 4 in the morning. Then the same on Saturday. It's my only time I get to play. I have been so tired this past month.

How far does 500K go online?
pretty far... that's quite generous.
So, what should be on the basic shopping list?

Guns/Ammo?

A place/garage or two?

Any vehicles? Can you get an attack chopper and a place to store it for 500K?
I dunno, I'm pretty cheap... I haven't bought any cars (It's called Grand THEFT Auto not Grand Purchase). Though yesterday I did finally soup up a car I stole with my crew logo (25k) and some suspension upgrade. Thing is, at a low level all the good guns and car upgrades aren't open to you.

I'm usually rolling in a chopper, but I doubt I'll ever buy one. I usually steal one from the airfield by my apartment (found one with GUNS on it yesterday!!!!! No missiles though)... If I'm out in the middle of nowhere or feeling lazy I'll call in Merryweather for a lift (1k) and shoot the pilot and take his chopper. Or you can pay 5k and they'll leave you one... but the one time I tried to do that the guy just hovered and never landed... never again.

I'd probably pick up an apartment and stash the rest and save up for a big ticket item you just have to have. There are a lot of planes/cars over the 1 mill mark.

How do you automatically know when I'm online? I log on and 2 mins later I see a chopper about to land by me. I need to know how to do this.

Picked up a random guy in a chopper after doing a couple missions together and started chasing down other players while he was in back shooting at them. Was gunning for players with bounties but they get a lot of people after them so there were a few targets at a time. We didn't get anyone but man was it a rush! After we finally crashed, dude messaged me saying that was the most fun he's ever had playing GTAV.

We're friends so I get a notification that you're on. Then from the pause menu I go to friends and then Join Session. Once in your world I look on the map and scroll through the players till I find you, mark a way point and then head off in your general direction.

Nice flying in the chopper last night BTW... you gotta use more cover in the fire fights though. Cover is key.

Half the time on these missions I don't even know which direction I'm supposed to be going. And I still have a fricken glock only. I'm used to the regular game where I'm loaded to the gills and can just walk out there Terminator style.

That was a fun mission where you killed 21 dudes and I got 3 before getting waxed. lol

6. Nearly 7. The last thing I noticed is I could get an extended clip.

So, I'm a total noob when it comes to Xbox live.

How do I meet up with fellow FBGs once I go online? I am already in our crew, does that do anything?

Yea, I messed up on that one. It's tough without a mic. I was supposed to kill everyone on that level, it was a sniper/transport team thing, but you had the sniper waypoints marked and I was the transporter... so my bad. If I had a headset I could've just said, "Hey, climb that ladder and wait for me to mow everyone down". You flew the #### out of that chopper though, did a good job of keeping the enemy chopper on the side that I could shoot at it from.

Yeah, I kept having to turn and tilt so you could blow those bastards into infinity.

Made an online character and completed the first race. Think I'll get back on and just make sure the progress is saved, but will stick with the offline story until I finish.

Though... hmm.... I gather you can have a character in each of your slots at the login screen? If so, think it would be worth filling them so (hopefully) each gets the $500k?

Heard about an easy way to pump up strength. Find a truck or van and punch it repeatedly. Every 20 punches ups you 1%.

If you try it, interested to hear your results. The person who posted elsewhere about punching respawning cows said he heard that about vehicles and tried it and it didn't work for him.

I did the tutorial missions, and one thing it mentioned was Passive Mode so I gave that a try.

Had a really nice run in with a guy on a motorcycle. He rode up while I was looking for a car to steal and sell at a pay and spray. He was very sharing, pulling out his submachine gun and showing me how quickly it could fire as he unloaded clip after clip towards me to make sure I could see it well.

After standing there watching all the bullets fly harmlessly, I tried to signal my thanks to him with my gesture. Which turned out to be a double middle-finger. He seemed grateful for it and backed his bike up into me. It damaged me slightly which I'm sure must have been an accident. I interpreted his backing the bike up as an invitation to hop on the back. So I did.

Then he drove all over the place, ramming into things for nearly a minute. He was all frantic like a bee that had its hive kicked over. It was so kind of him to show me around like that. He must have been trying to point out to me how durable the bike was.

Eventually he flipped the bike completely, knocking us both off. I figured he meant for me to take a turn then and so I hopped on the bike and gunned it. I realized I had driven off before he managed to climb on behind me, and was about to turn back for him, when he signaled to me to go take it for a spin by shooting more of his SMG my way. So I took the bike for a good long ride.

It feels so good to make friends. :)

Today I was on for awhile. I was walking around looking for a car to jack & sell, when I happened upon a sports car sitting in the middle of the road. The driver was dead at the wheel. So I think, "alright, easy money!" But as I'm dragging the body from the car, a freaking semi comes barreling in and steamrolls me to death.

It was another player. What a setup! :lmao:

I wish my online experience was as good as you guys are having. I played for a couple of hours with nobody else in my world (as far as I can tell) and not much to do. Honestly, online kind of sucks so far. Holding up liquor stores is boring, and the missions aren't much better.

so i finally got into playing, took a jeep up in the mountains only to have it breakdown, i had to walk all the way down, stupid game lol

It's great when you find a good group who keep playing jobs. I was in a group of 3 this morning for about 2 hours. We kept doing job after job and even played a few Last Man Standing deathmatches. Loads of fun. When it was all done, I'd racked up $25K too.

Any PS3 people going to be around tonight? I'll be on after my kid goes to sleep, somewhere between 9 and 10. We need to get a solid group together one of these nights.

GTA Murphy's Law.

I have a good starter car online - a new mustang (forgot the GTA name - Bravado Sport?). 4 speed, 4 acceleration, 4 traction, 2 brakes. Good car. I painted it and tagged it and had been using it all week.

This morning I hit Rank 10, and a few new mods opened up, including 20% armor. So I drop 7K on fixing it up. Then, of course, as soon as I leave the custom shop, I hit someone by accident, get a wanted level, and in the ensuing chase, accidentally put my car in the drink.

I can't understand why they made it so hard to keep customized cars in this game. It's sort of ruining it for me because there's nothing worthwhile to spend money on.

It's not though. I dished out a ton of damage to that mustang and it never wrecked. I've used it on jobs and driven it over mountains. But putting it in the Sandy Shore lake....well, there's no coming back from that.

When you get the replacement car from the insurance company, does it not retain the upgrades?

Last night was awesome. Spent half the time uncontrollably laughing. Good to see Sayhota and Manback again. Sayhota needs to get a mic!

Yeah didn't really want to dig it out for what I thought was going to be a quick run. Would have been nice to be able to discuss with mobbin his hilariously inept driving on the way to one of the jobs we were doing (although we did manage to successfully team up to rob a couple liquor stores later on)

I don't know. Didn't have insurance. Just a tracker so I knew where my car was & it'd spawn for jobs.
