There is a really good thread in the Shark Pool discussing nabbing a stud QB early and locking down that spot for years, so right now Palmer sits at 24 in the rankings and if he is there, grab him. Eli Manning would also be a good pick. The rest is tough to answer depending if its PPR or not, but it is tough to go wrong with a young RB who looks to be a starter in the near term...maybe Maroney, but I seriously need more info, b/c WR careers tend to be longer than RB's and you could go QB/WR and have a nice core to build off of for the next 10 years.

' date='Aug 9 2006, 09:27 PM' post='5304427']HOw would you tier LJ/LT/SA in a PPR league (20/6 scoring)
LJ - He'll get tons of touches and scoresLT - gold in PPR, Rivers will dump off to him a lot this yearSA - loss of Hutch, coming off a huge year will be tough to duplicate

I assume that is a 12 team league, and since it's a dynasty, all 32 QBs and then some will end up rostered. I'd take the best 2 QBs available and not worry about year 1. If you go in to year 2 with, for example, Carson Palmer and Culpepper or Brees, you'll be in a great spot.Sorry for the hijack. :hey: COLin

Herd,Thanks for the input, but since that league has a flex option, I wouldn't go QB/QB off the bat. Lock down another long term starter at WR or RB, IMHO is the way to go.

Getting two QBs from the top-third of the league IS locking down two long term PLAYERS. In a seaon or two when the poor sap who drafted Trent Green and Brad Johnson in the middle rounds is suddenly relying on Alex Smith and Brady QUinn as his QBS, the guy with two top-10 QBs will be feeling fine. :banned:

How do you feel about Chris Chambers this year? :hey:
Last year the Dolphin QB's were stiffs and they still threw the ball 550 times for 3500 yards and Chambers had his breakout season. Now Ricky Williams is gone and C-Pep is the QB, both of these factors will help Chambers. Bottom line, I expect big things from him. Unfortunately, I don't share the same optimism for NC State... :D

HK,

Could you please validate your RB1 ranking of Chester Taylor? I mean I know he's running behind 7 pro bowlers and has a future HOF QB and the best OC in the league, but 500 touches? Isn't that a little much?

I'll hang up and listen.

Chris Baker or Courtney Anderson in PPR (standard scoring) scoring leagues?
Um, neither if I could help it. Gun to the head, I'll take Anderson. Both teams are a mess, but I think Porter is a head case and it will help the TE get more looks in Oakland this year. Baker seems like a practice stud who never puts it together on Sunday...and their whole offense seems shaky with CuMar a big question mark, uncertainty at QB and McCareins in the dog house. Besides Coles, Jets players are not looking too good this season.

Great question!Pretty easy to connect the dots on this one. Taylor is a proven commodity with a ton of weapons around him to keep defenses honest, so he should be able to roam free this year. The coaching staff has a ton of experience at HC and OC, and nobody can question Taylor's desire or durability, so he's pretty much a lock to shatter every single season record at his his position this season. ;)

I'm sure you knew this question was coming, but what do you make of the Denver RB situation. Also, would you mess with this situtation in the draft?

I can make a broach, or a pterodactyl...sorry, couldn't resist....First, I'd rely on SSOG's or Cecil Lammey's insight more than mine. Even then, I doubt I'll draft any Denver RB's as the situation stands right now. You have to grab at least two of them to put the odds in your favor, and even still I assume it will still be some sort of rotation on a week to week basis until somebody emerges...even then Tatum will still get 10-15 touches a week, but probably not much more. So I expect the stats to be watered down this season.

When will you be in Tampa? Will you sign my statbook?

-mlb

p.s. - Regarding Chester Taylor, do you feel he will also come close to the single season games started record?

Thanks again. I'll hang up and listen.

You think this might be the year Foster lives up to the hype in Carolina?
Yes.....but handcuff to Williams just in case. As long as Foster stays healthy, he'll get plenty of work. Double-edged sword though because he has his own table reserved in the training room. However, he will be the primary RB unless(until?) he gets hurt. FWIW, Shelton must really turn it around to make the team, and I he runs too high to be a useful SD back, so I am not concerned about a substantial loss of goal line carries.OK, now I am done.

Not sure when I'll be in Tampa again, but I used to go there all the time. I'll PM you my signature for prosperity's sake.Taylor is a lock to break the single season start record...or his leg, whichever comes first.
