As a freshman he ran for a team high 802 yards and four touchdowns. Ever since then, he has been splitting time with Graig Cooper, but James has still proven to be a quality runner. In 2007 he was not as explosive as Cooper, but he did end up with 582 yards and four scores. In 2008 James took even more of a backseat to Cooper since he played in just nine games. While Cooper tallied 841 yards, James rushed for just 286 yards on 68 carries. The positive out of the 2008 season for James was that he still proved that he is a good short yardage back and a quality pass catcher out of the backfield. During his senior campaign, James is finally getting the better of Cooper. Through seven games, James has four touchdowns and is averaging 5.4 yards per carry -- which is a much better average than he has ever had during his collegiate career. James will not be one of the first running backs taken in the 2010 NFL Draft, but he could turn into a productive player in the NFL (especially as a short yardage back). 2/1 Update: The end of James' senior season did not go quite as well as the beginning. After averaging 5.4 yards per carry through the first seven games, James' average fell to 4.8 by the end of the season. There are better running backs out there, but James should still be drafted in the sixth or seventh round.

"Brown (hamstring) was a full participant in Wednesday's practice and could start this week"

not that this matters but since he was only scripted for a specific amount of time last week and thats the only reason

james played

November 4, 2010

Donald Brown was a full participant in practice on Wednesday, the Indianapolis Star notes.

Our View:

Joseph Addai (shoulder) and Mike Hart (ankle) didn't perform on Wednesday, and for now, Jim Caldwell isn't commenting on the backfield issues. Brown could end up starting in Week 9, with Javarris James as the top backup.

November 3, 2010

Head coach Jim Caldwell told the Indianapolis Star that Donald Brown was unavailable late in the Week 8 win because that was part of the team's script. Brown missed the previous three games due to a hamstring injury, and the Colts didn't want to push him

Miami Hurricane running backs are usually pretty good.

Edgerrin James was pretty good.

Colts running backs are good to have.

The other Colts running backs are hurt or not all that good.

The Perfect Storm

This one should die quickly. As bad as he is Brown and Hart are still in front when healthy. Also, Hart looked incredible last week. I see James as a one week plug if Brown, Hart, and Addai are all out. I'm also not exactly sure how just being from the U makes him a good RB, or even increases his chances.

Obviously there is no arguing with this logic.

Hawks ain't flyin' too high these days. Good luck.
 Are you confused about Matt Forte having a great season? Or Danario blowing up his very first NFL game? Or maybe me nearly nailing Eddie Royal's reception count through 7 games?

Water visibility: murky

As I've said before, I can lift you folks above the trees, but I can't make you see.

Wasn't this the player that Manning had to push back into his position 2 or 3 times last game because he didn't know what was going on? He lacked any speed hitting the hole=no vision. Even if Brown doesn't play this guy gets 30 yds rushing and 15 yds receiving tops. Look elsewhere. I would rather have Gerhart for Minn in against AZ in 4th quarter mop up duty than this turd of a player.

How about Danario being a solid start his second week, or a buy low? You throw enough darts on a board and your bound to hit something eventually. Get off your imaginary self-imposed pedestal. "I can lift you folks above the trees, but I can't make you see". :X

Are you here from The Huddle? Be honest.

Lots of folks in here setting themselves up to have egg on their faces come Monday.

No, I'm not from the Huddle even though I don't quite understand the significance of that considering what I posted. Also, I only see one person in this thread that's going to have egg on their face come Monday.

Could be a nice spot starter for a game or two.

But once any of Addai, Brown, or Hart are fully healthy, I expect he'll fade into obscurity.

I would think JESSE James has a better chance of scoring this weekend than Javarris James.

WHO'S ON BOARD?

*TOOT TOOT*

Guys, as a staunch |__| fan and supporter it pains me to say Javarris is NOT The Edge v2. Quite the contrary, he is terrible.

Otis, I can be sold on the "perfect storm" argument on James, but I just don't see this one panning out more than a week at best. Peyton Manning loved Edgerrin James. He cannot possibly love his younger cousin. Not only is he nowhere near as athletically gifted as Edge was, he is nowhere near as smart a football player either. This does not have the makings of said perfect storm for me.

If the guy plays significant time on Sunday due to no other options the Colts will have no choice but to extract some yardage from Javarris. He may also vulture a TD if they land on the one-inch line, but this is not a guy to go crazy over if you're dinging a waiver budget/priority, IMO.

Watched Javarris for years at the U, and have been following him since his sophomore year in high school.

I watched him up close during the week of practice at the Shrine Game earlier this year in Orlando and came away unimpressed. He is instinctive and moves like a running back. However, he lacks the speed and agility to be a big difference maker at the pro level.

He's okay, but nothing is amazing about his game. In Indy his rushing lanes will be bigger because a defense is so focused on Peyton Manning, but he's not the 2nd coming of Edge.

I'm a big fan of money.I like it.

I use it.

I have a little.

I keep it in a jar on top of my refrigerator.

I'd like to put more in that jar.

That's where you come in.

Why oh why does everyone continue to buy into the schtick? It's like watching a Dane Cook movie. Maybe you giggle once or twice but eventually it just grows tiresome.

Man, he was awful in college. I couldn't believe it the other night when I saw he was on an NFL team.

;) at Edge 2.0.

Hello friend. Beautiful clouds up here today.
Otis - I am with you on this if Hart is out. Donald Brown still looked hurt last week.

I'll be riding in the caboose. This way, I can jump off said train if things don't go well (without much notice from everyone up front!)

meh you hit on half your calls. Your most outspoken call, has the retty strong odds of you owing 20,000+ dollars in the SP, unless Harrison somehow usurps mccoy and peels off 150 in the next 7 weeks.

If Barry Sanders wasn't related to Barry Sanders, nobody would care much about him either. Wrap your scaly head around that one.
