Official Johnny Manziel Thread (2 Viewers)

I just want to make sure I understand this, was still reeling from the holidays this past weekend, Manziel actually was ruled out with a concussion and decided to go to Vegas over the weekend? A guy who went to alcohol rehab and is under constant suspicion of drugs/alcohol decided to go to the drinker's capital in Vegas? A QB just taken in the 1st round 2 years ago?

It's hard to comprehend but I have to say that beyond Manziel there is some serious problems in Cleveland. I feel like Manziel was toxic to begin with but Cleveland did not help matters. Not the city, not the fans, but the team or front office.

rehab, yes.

rehab for alcohol, unknown.

There's been speculation it was for cocaine and/or other street drugs, not for alcohol.

I am not sure it is relevant

I have never heard of anyone going to any rehab for substance abuse and being told it was ok to keep drinking and partying. That's generally not the way it works.

Just because you have not heard of it does not make it possible, on top of that have you spoken to every person who has exited rehab?

I would say Manziel is going to do something terrible and is a danger to himself but you are watching him do it in full swing. These are not secret hush hush stories made to make him look terrible, he's right out in the open about it.

No NFL team could seriously think he is capable of being a starter right now.

"FORCE" his release, hahahaha.

He wouldn't even be able to force them to keep him. He has it backwards.
If the Browns are smart, they will keep him on the roster until the final day of training camp, then cut him.
Why? I would think it would be smarter to let him go play for another team so we can get a win
Dallas is on the Browns schedule next year ;)

AND the game is in Cleveland!!

sure

it's also possible he went in for alcohol and they said "you really don't have an isue"

also possible he went in for addictive nail chewing

still, talk to as many people as you can who went through inpatient rehab and let me know how many of them were advised to keep boozing it up just lay off the smack

sure, MAYBE he was not in for alcohol

“If he asked me if I thought drinking was a good idea, I would say absolutely not,” Scott said. “You’d have to have your head examined if you said, ‘It’s OK to go have a couple.’ “

Scott, 55, quit his job in the spring and stayed with Manziel for several weeks at the quarterback’s behest. He said he did not see Manziel drink during that time.

“He kept his sobriety alive and well when I was there,” Scott said.

When asked his reaction after hearing Manziel had been drinking on Monday, Scott said, “Did that surprise me? Yes, it did.”

Scott said he left a message for Manziel and two of the quarterback’s friends Saturday but had not heard back.

“Until I talk to him I won’t know” what happened, Scott said.

Scott said he last talked to Manziel the day after the quarterback led the Browns to a 28-14 victory over the Tennessee Titans on Sept. 20.

“He seemed to be in a good spot,” Scott said. Things seemed to be rocking along well.”

Added Scott: “I love that boy, and I’m always going to stand by no matter what.”

listen, this kid needs to be held accountable (IMO of course), and he needs to get his life cleaned up if he wants to try and be an nfl QB

if he wants to party he'll probably hit another team and cash some checks and sit the bench. There's nothing wrong with that if he wants to party and be Johnny Football. But if he wants to be an NFL QB he needs to learn, and for that to happen i think he needs to be held accountable

i fear Jerry will, as someone else said, just validate that as JFF he can do what he wants and land on his feet and he won't learn

Being born the son of a wealthy oil man in Texas and being a stud athlete in high and college. I'm sure Manziel was never told what to do and not do. He did whatever he wanted. Spoiled rich kid syndrome. Mike Petine was the first man in his life to actually try to be a father to him and hold him accountable for his actions. If Manziel is still alive in five or ten years, I bet he ends up really appreciating what Petine was trying to do.

If at the end of all this, Manziel gets what he wants and lands with Dallas, then the pattern of his poor decisions/behavior being ignored or even rewarded will just continue on, and his accountability will remain pinned at zero.
From your words to Gods mouth.

- Giants fans.

He'll be a Cowboy by camp, Johnny is forcing the Browns to move.

It may be the correct long game strategy on Johnny's part...Cleveland is a cluster####.

Johnny is not as out of control as the media depicts IMHO.

Sweet Jesus, sweet baby Jesus.

You are either completely blind at this point, related to Johnny or trolling because nobody at this stage in the game could actually believe that.

So Johnnys long term plan is to act like an alcoholic/drug addict, go to rehab, drink and drive and argue physically with your gf, lie to the staff, lie again to the staff, go to Vegas and miss the game and lie again to the staff etc ( I am sure I am forgetting something)?

Damn that dude is a genius. He did all that to get out of Cleveland. Mastermind

Why would the Browns have any incentive to cut Manziel before training camp?
Accountability.

I've supported this guy numerous times and still think he can be an NFL QB if he get his stuff together but if the reports of last week are true to me it's another sign of the disfunction of that organization that he's still a member of it.

Don't think many Browns fans would argue with you.

Regardless of whether you believe Johnny is partying to get cut, his dream scenario is for the Browns to cut him.

They are a dumpster fire. Nearly any other situation is a better situation for him.

They are a mess, no doubt.

But a team being a mess doesn't excuse players from behaving like adults. It makes it understandable that they might want to leave.

Johnny can get his dream scenario, and then go be a 5'`10'' QB with a popgun arm, and no work ethic somewhere else. Is he going to go to Dallas, and be a choir boy? He's going to return to the state of Texas, and behave? No.

JFF going to Dallas is probably among the worst options for him.

He needs to go back to rehab, asap. Too bad the enablers and leeches surrounding him will just let Johnny be Johnny. I want to see this kid get the help he needs. Football is the least of his worries.

In November of this year he talked about drafting a QB "if a great one falls, like Roethlisberger or Manziel"

How anyone (other than intentionally blind Browns fans who were understandably praying for the best) could use the word "great" about Johnny Football as late as November 2015 is beyond me.

We won't even talk about putting him in the same class as Roethlisberger.

Hell, Johnny should aspire to be Cousins.
This is why Jerry is Jerry.

Why would they cut him? He is on a pretty affordable rookie deal and if there are teams interested, why not try and at least get something in return? Dallas or someone should at least offer something for him.

Johnny Manziel update:

We all know Vegas stories can get extremely crazy involving celebrities. This is going to sound wild, and maybe hard to believe, but this is what we’re hearing regarding Johnny Manziel.

Our sources tell us Manziel was at a popular night club on the strip Saturday night. The QB entered wearing a blonde wig, a fake mustache, glasses, and a hoodie.

Manziel introduced himself as “Billy.” He was there into the 3am hour and when it came time to pay the bill, he asked to have it comped because he didn’t bring cash and also didn’t want to put it on his card.

However, the sources tell us he ended up paying with his card and signing the check.

By 3am he appeared to be enjoying the party scene that Vegas is known to offer.

The club had Manziel and his crew placed at a VIP table close to the DJ booth. The table is located in one of the darkest areas of the club.

Manziel dined at the club’s restaurant before going to the nightclub. He was seated at the most private area in the restaurant, which is still out in the open. And yes, he ate with his wig and glasses on.

He is a doosh.

He also went out of his way to post to Instagram that he was in Avon OH on Saturday night.

All part of his plan bro, he is not really an alkie and the media is blowing this way out of proportion. This is his mastermind plan to get out of Cleveland. The dude is crazy like a fox.

Jeez, now he showed up drunk to the browns facility:

ESPN Cleveland's Bruce Hooley was told by colleague Tony Grossi that Johnny Manziel showed up to the Browns' facility "disheveled and inebriated" earlier in the week.
This is an even bigger deal than being in Vegas the night before the game and while in concussion protocol.

Are you sure he was in the protocol before showing up smashed at practice? Farmer and Pet try to cover that up with the concussion story? This is bizarre.

i take it all back.

sign him forever.

the Browns will always be a joke, they may as well be entertaining, too.
I KNOW I have said similar things in the past. Glad someone else finally wants to ride that train with me.

I would rather lose in entertaining fashion than in boring fashion.

Can he play football or not? If he can, then Homie can pay hookers to pull ben wa balls out of his ### till dawn for all I care. If he can't, then he can party in obscurity till the money is gone - none of my business.
