Julius Thomas secured 6-of-7 targets for 63 yards and two touchdowns in the Broncos' Week 10 blowout win over the Raiders.

Quiet for most of the first half, Thomas made his presence felt on a 10-yard slant for a touchdown to give Denver a 27-10 lead in the third quarter. He got behind Charles Woodson for his second score, good from 32 yards out with a bunch of untouched yards after catch. Although Thomas has been relatively lightly targeted and is somewhat TD-dependent in fantasy leagues, he's always a good bet to score in Peyton Manning's offense. Up to 12 touchdown grabs on the season, Thomas has a realistic chance at 20 with seven games left on the Broncos' schedule. They face the lowly Rams next.

Julius Thomas targets by game: 8, 5, 4, 7, 6, 6, 6, 2, 7

Obviously the two-target game was an outlier, (doubly so, because Manning attempted a season-high 57 passes that game), but other than that yesterday was pretty much right in line with his regular usage in the passing game. Thomas has gotten between 6 and 8 targets in six of his nine games this year. It's just a question of where they come and what he does with them.

 
5.7 targets per game this year, versus 6.5 targets per game last year.

7, 9, 4, 4, 12, 7, 6, 3, 5, 5, 7, 8, 8, 5.

24 TDs in 23 games.

For reference, Graham has 23 TDs in 25 games - on 219 targets.

Julius has 141 targets the last two seasons.

 
Gronk at his peak production had 28 TDs In 27 games 2011-12 on 7.5 targets per game. The last two years, 12 TDs in 16 games in 8.9 targets per game (vs 8.8 targets per game for Graham).

JT is efficient, but the lack of volume dictates he'll have so-so weeks on the rare occasion he doesn't score.

If you have JT as your TE, he should be the least of your worries.

2 bad games? Most top 10 WRs have had 2 bad games (or more). I know Jordy has had 2 clunkers. Brown has only had one, but Demaryius had 2 early in the season.

If your TE is giving you top 15 WR production, with only 2 clunkers through Week 10, your TE should be the last thing on your mind.

Julius Thomas exited Week 11 against the Rams with an ankle injury and is out for the remainder of the game.

Thomas was hurt making a two-yard catch early in the first quarter. He limped off the field and into the locker room after totaling three yards on two catches. Jacob Tamme is now in the game at tight end. Virgil Green is already out with an injury of his own. Thomas has battled ankle injuries in the past.

The Denver Post confirms that Julius Thomas' ankle injury is "not as bad as initially feared," but believes it "might be difficult" for him to suit up in Week 12.

Both local and national outlets are now reporting that Thomas has avoided serious injury, but considering his history of ankle issues, we agree with the assessment that he's questionable — at best — for Week 12. Thomas almost certainly won't practice on Wednesday, and it might be difficult to gauge his status before Friday. Owners need to have a back-up plan at the ready.

Julius Thomas (ankle) was not in a walking boot Monday and was not walking with a limp.

This confirms that Thomas does not have any serious kind of sprain. He was also spotted slipping a basketball shoe onto his nicked up wheel, a great sign that there's no swelling. Although Thomas remains questionable for Week 12 against the Dolphins, he's certainly not ruled out and truly appears day to day. Jacob Tamme is the weak handcuff for owners seeking insurance.

Thomas stretched with his teammates before taking the rest of the day off. He's not in a walking boot or limping around, so he appears to at least have a chance at playing Week 12.

kinda hope he sits. think id actually prefer a healthy tamme in ppr. manning just loves to dink to him. 10 targets last game.

FOX's Jay Glazer reports Julius Thomas (ankle) is "gonna be out" against the Dolphins.
It means Jacob Tamme will get the start, and be a plug-and-play TE1 for Thomas owners in a bind. Per Glazer, the Broncos don't believe Thomas' injury is "very serious," but that they're sending his X-rays to a specialist. Thomas has a long history of ankle issues. His status can't be taken for granted for Week 13.

The Denver Post does not expect Julius Thomas (ankle) to play in Sunday's game against the Dolphins, but the coaches have yet to make an official determination.
Multiple reports have stated Thomas is a true game-time call and will work out on the field prior to today's 4:25pm ET start. However, he didn't practice at all this week and the beat writers remains very skeptical. Fantasy owners must have a backup plan, such as Jacob Tamme or Niles Paul, in place if they're going to try for the slim chance Orange Julius guts it out.

A Niles Paul and a Jacob Tamme? I had them both and started Paul today, with Thomas out. Both TE back-up plans really tore it up today.

The Denver Post reports Julius Thomas (ankle) could return for Sunday night's game against the Chiefs.

Thomas has a chance to return after missing only one game. His status can't be taken for granted for Week 13, but he's trending in the right direction. Thomas will be updated no later than Wednesday. Jacob Tamme was held to just one catch filling in for Thomas last week.

He didn't practice yesterday. Tomorrow will be pretty decisive on whether he goes or not.

Not looking good for Orange Julius owners.

Re watching the play he got injured on, it really didn't look that bad.

Didn't even look like he turned it or was limping. Tamme was to the answer that's for sure. May turn to Rudolph or Cameron if he plays

Yeah. When I watched the replay, he just kind of turns around and jogs off the field.

Not sure if that worries me more or less.

I'm sure being such a large dude and ankle hurts more. But I ain't no ankle doctor.

Unfortunately it's a Sunday night game and not a lot of options out there.

Maybe Charles Clay in some leagues? But he's rostered in mine.

I have Clay and Julius, but Clay has been gimpy all season, and is definitely not 100% healthy right now. Practiced yesterday which is good, but tough to rely on him as a backup plan. Cant take that 0.

 
According to RotoWorld, julius was limited on Thursday and now they post this.

Which one is it? Did he practice in a limited fashion on Thursday or not?

Julius Thomas (ankle) missed his third straight practice Friday.

Thomas appeared on the side of Friday's practice, but did not participate. He may officially be considered a game-time decision against the Chiefs, but we suspect Thomas will not play. With Julius out for Week 12, Jacob Tamme didn't even play 50 percent of Denver's offensive snaps. Demaryius Thomas took over as the red-zone dominator and scored three touchdowns. Nov 28 - 2:02 PM

sounds like it doesnt matter if he was limited or not on thursday. he aint playin. i heard an interview with him a few days ago that was scary. he said something to the effect of "im just waiting to wake up one day and it not hurt." that implies that its been hurting too much lately and hes hoping for an unlikely breakthrough. really comes at a terrible time for ffpc teams.

He was also "limited" on Thursday. Thomas' status remains a game-time decision, but he is trending in the right direction after missing all of the Broncos' practices last week, then being listed among Denver's Week 12 inactives. We don't expect to know Julius' availability until Sunday morning at the earliest. "Filling in" for Julius last week, Jacob Tamme only played 30 percent of the Broncos' offensive snaps and caught one pass for a loss of one.

I decided to roll the dice and not start Witten last night, in hopes that JT plays Sunday.

Being an afternoon game - if he doesn't play, doesn't leave a lot of wiggle room to go with anyone else.

I do have Tim Wright as contingency (Sunday night game vs SD).

Glad I didn't start Witten, but JT is still not a lock to be any better.. and if he doesn't play, I'll have to see what T. Wright can deliver.

Fantasy playoffs are great fun.

. . . which brings us a couple of questions-----Should the Denver Post be commended for, at least, running some news, however vague, on Thomas? Or do they truly know if he'll be active and are withholding the info in deference to the team to keep Buffalo in suspense? Both?

 
usually a week of limited ;practices would indicate active status so this is kinda strange. i suppose its likely that his ankle didnt respond well to the workouts. really sucks.

Thomas himself said he was not "sure yet" if he would be able to play. As heavy home favorites against the Bills, it may be in the Broncos' best interest to let Thomas sit out one more game. Thomas' status will hopefully be updated on Sunday morning, but for now he looks unlikely to play against Buffalo.
