All I know is when you have a plane on the island that was carrying drugs from Nigeria with dead guys dressed in priest getup and you have a Nigerian man on the island who appears to be religious, anything is possible.This thread doesn't suck, you do.....

No but I saw Eko instantaneously after the crash rescuing people in a suit. Id find it pretty hard to believe that he just so happened was standing on that beach and that if he was on the Nigerian drug plane he would be wearing a suit.And you saw them all come out of the tail end of the plane?No but we didTrue, but do you think she saw EVERYBODY that came out of the water? Cabeel, I am sort of with you on this. IIRC, we first see him on the beach. We do not see Eko emerging from the water with the others. In an island/show that is filled with coincidences, I find it pretty damn incredible that a Nigerian priest is not somehow connected to the drug smuggler's body, who just happened to be a priest from Nigeria. By the clips for the next episode, they are confronting this all. Perhaps he had been in hiding after the drug plane crashed, perhaps as a result of a Dharma experiment, and arrived on the scene moments after the Tailies crashed?And you saw them all come out of the tail end of the plane?No but we didTrue, but do you think she saw EVERYBODY that came out of the water? One other possiblity.He was on the tail section, but is connected to the drug plane. Screeeechhhhh......OK, let's bring the Eko thing to a halt. From what we have seen, he was on flight 815. Unlike Goodwin/Nathan (who actually was on the plance), the producers/directors intentionally didn't show them to us to make us try and figure out who was not on the plane. The used the Canada home and Nathan/Ethan name to trick us, but once Anna figured it out, we all realized that we didn't see Goodwin in the initial crash like we did Anna, Eko, Libby, Cindy (? Flight Attendant), and the kids. I don't remember Bernard, but Rose has confirmed that as well.If Cabeel wants to speculate, then he is free to do so, but I think the "this thread sucks" people would like to see more "this is just speculation and my theory". I don't care much, because I know when people are just throwing things out there.

I don't think that the show has actually misled our eyes yet, we may have missed something, but they haven't pulled something like Eko being on the drug plane and hiding in a bunker at the beach in a nice suit waiting for the plane to crash and then infiltrate the tailies.

I don't think that after the crash the people were instantly upon the beach. Disoriented both by impact and location (water), it would take several minutes for survivors to reach the beach. The sound of the crash would draw someone to the beach, like Goodwin proved. The only reason Goodwin was exposed was because he screwed up with Nathan. AL was convinced that Nathan was the mole, keeping him in the pit. If Eko doesn't play himself, he could remain incognito (who might check the passenger list now?). He seems to have no malicious intent, quite unlike the Others.

Nathan's "disappearance" facilitated Ana's suspicions, as she was quite content to keep Nathan in the pit. I'm not saying that AL wouldn't have been able to figure it out later but at the time she seemed convinced that Nathan was the mole. His disappearance, coupled with Goodwin's suspicious actions afterwards, led her to re-think things. Goodwin ####ed himself, AL didn't suddenly become Columbo there.We didn't see Bernard on the plane but certainly his appearance up a tree, in the seat no less, would leave most people to think he was on that plane.
I'll grant you that it is reasonable to assume that Eko was on the Oceanic flight. Like you say, he has the clean clothes and appeared on the scene seemingly instantly. We have little reason to think otherwise too and that's important here. However, the writers of the show seem to revel in the possibilities. It is plausible, however remote, to think he was with the other Nigerian priest on the drug plane. we might know more next week...
Are you sure? We have only seen 8 or 9 so far. That would suck.BTW, saintfool, I like bucky's idea that Eko was connected to the drug plane somehow, not that he was on the plane. The writers have us going in all different directions, but at least they have been good at not lying to us, at least not yet. They don't show us everything or tell us everything, but what we see and what we have heard hasn't been BS. Not that characters haven't lied or made up things, but we as the audience (similar to watching the confessions on Survivor) know when they do that. I think the fan base would be a little bit upset if they pulled something like that because it would almost mean that they "rewrote" something because it didn't quite work.The next new episode airs January 11

Did anyone else notice that when the computer started "beeping" when Michael was fiddling with the wiring that the countdown timer stopped at 52 minutes flat?Did the timer stop because someone communicated with the computer, or did something Michael did stop the timer? Previously in the episode, Locked touched keys on the computer to show Michael that you couldn't input anything until the timer reached 4 minutes, so this would explain why Michael had the look of surprise on his face when the letter H appeared on the screen as he started to type "Hello"Is it actually Walt communicating? Who knows, but since the people who dragged off the tailies knew all their names and appearances, it's not really a stretch to think they have some sort of passenger manifest to go from, either.The message from "Walt" also appeared at exactly the same time that the previously removed section of the Orientation film was saying to not use the computer for anything but entering the numbers. All of this cannot be coincidence.Re: The Nigerian drug plane - People keep referring to the priests on the drug plane. I think it's a fairly safe assumption that since they had heroin hidden in statues of the Virgin Mary and guns, that they weren't actual priests, and that they were only dressed that way to correspond with their cargo to not arouse suspicion. While there is speculation that Eko is a priest, this has not yet been confirmed, so aside from the obvious Nigerian link, I can't see why they'd be linked.

I'm sure in previous episodes you see the seconds count down as well at times above 4 minutes, but I could be wrong.Also, any speculation on why Sayid was on the TV in the Army recruitment office? My guess, is similar to Hurley's massive lotto win, Sayid being arrested in Australia prior to infiltrating his boyhood friends terror network. The timing isn't right for after the plot was foiled as Sayid was on a plane out of Oz within 72 hours, IRRC, and Kate still has to get to Australia, meet the old widower, stay with him for a while and then leave there, too.If it's not his "arrest" prior to the bomb plot, I have no clue why he'd be on TV.

If it was 51:00, my bad. But, I'm sure that in previous episodes as the timer reverts back to 4:08:00, you see it immediately go to 4:07:59. Unfortunately I don't have TIVO or any of those episodes on tape, so if someone could confirm, that'd be great.

Kate was in Australia for a couple of months before she was caught.The Marshall made a comment last night about taking her back to Iowa, so I think she'd already crossed state lines, which puts her in federal jurisdiction. Premeditated murder and insurance fraud is definitely a crime worthy of federal pursuit.
BTW, hopefully everyone noticed that her name is really Kathrine.

Yep, it was the cliff hanger we were left with. Here's what happened:
Micheal is messing with the back of the computer, just checking things out. A strange beep is heard and he looks at the time, which says 51:00. The beeping is heard again and he goes around to the front.
On the screen is the word "Hello?" with the prompt below it. Michael looks around to see who else is there. You can hear the film in the background with Locke and Eko watching it.
Michael sits down and types "Hello?" The response comes "Who is this?" Michael types "This is Michael. Who is this?"
After a short pause, the word "Dad?" appears on the screen. Michael's jaw drops, the episode ends with "Dad?" taking up the entire TV.

Don't forget right before Michael started typing, Locke and Eko spliced the film together and learned never to use the computer for communication or it could lead to another "incident"

Do we have any idea as to when the drug plane crashed on the island? I can't remember the degree of decay in the bodies Boone found aboard the plane. Were they skeletons?
I'm curious as to whether it's possible the drug plane crashed around the same time (maybe at the same time) as Flight 815...or even days after the crash of 815.
Eko could be the actual priest the other Nigerians were pretending to be. Or he could've been fooled by them earlier in his pre-crash life, and we'll learn about it in his flashback.

It was blast walls and I think Michael even mentioned that they are used in case of explosions. Also, the steel looked relatively new, not like the rest of the corridor out to the broken ladder/hatch. I wonder if they were added after the first "incident".Glass walls?

There was also one of the dead "priests" in a tree that I believe Locke found. He looked like he'd been dead quite a while. Definitely longer than the amount of time the survivors of Flight 815 have been around. I believe his remains were skeletal. Decomposition will occur faster in tropical temperatures, but I don't think it would happen that fast.Re: the Blast Doors - Michael was feeling along a seam in the roof and asked Locke about the blast doors. Locke didn't know what he Michael was talking about and Michael said something to the effect of "they would be to protect whoever was down here from an explosion, from up above" IRRC

I had the exact same thought watching the preview. You knew that Locke/Eko would tell Michael about the film and he could care less. They showed Michael getting ready to shoot something.I can't wait until January 11th, that is way too long. Oh well, something tells me that this thread won't make it past another page or two before then, so I can probably check back in on the 10th and read everything in a couple minutes. Adios.

The evidence that the plane crash took place in the future continues to mount. A few weeks ago a poster in the background of the flashback when Michael was in the hospital dated that scene as 2000. That was discussed earlier in this thread.
Now, this picture, if you look at the calender in the back ground dates this flashback as sometime in the Sep/Oct/Nov of 2005. The years are covered by post-it notes, but because Nov, 1st is a Tuesday, it necessitates that its either 1994, 2005, or 2011 (or some time further out). We can safely rule out 1994 as her dad's desk was littered with "An Army of One" stuff, which didn't exist in '94.
My feelings are that this flash back occured in fall of '05, and she was on the run for a few years before the crash. I think somewhere it is indicated that the marshall had been chasing her for 3 years or so.
