Why didnt Henry Gale escape when he had the chance?
:goodposting:
I think he's trying to infiltrate the camp by winning their trust. What I want to know is what took him so long to get to Locke. He released the doors quickly and then it seemingly took him a while to re-appear. What was he doing?

the Canadian preview for next week was different

Sayid is questioning the prisoner. prisoner says he cant talk or "he " will kill him. They ask if "he" is the bearded guy. Prisoner says no, the bearded guy isn't important
Shoot, I guess that confirms that I was wrong about Henry.Looks like I was right about the other thing from the previews though.

left side of hexagon shape - next to "The Staff":

"Estimated Travel Time Incompatible with ???"

"DO NOT ATTEMPT TO VERIFY."

another thought...

what if it's not "D.I.N.G." but it is "D.I.H.G."? Not sure what the difference is between N and H in the acronym, but the more I look at it, the more I see an "H" and not an "N"...

What's the point of taking the dead guy's name?
Anyone have a thought on this?
Gave him something concrete to build a backstory off of. Odds are they got all the info off of Gale that they could, then killed him to ensure that any of the "Others" could overtake his identity and story should they be captured. Plus, they knew that if SOMEHOW people could do rudimentary research on a person's existence (don't ask me how) from the island, it would look accurate. Just my guess.

This seems like a stretch. He could have just made up a name and identity. Or even used his real name. It's not like the survivors know anything about him.

Because it made for a good conclusion to the show last night?

That would be incredibly lame if true. What about the possibility that he actually is the real Henry Gale, and the black guy had a fake ID?

Maybe Gale is a member of a 3rd group (not others or crash survivors). Maybe he is part of the group that "runs" the island.

But the Henry Gale identity had things like a balloon and grave to help his story "check out."

Some very interesting things from the "best map"

"Primary nexus of cerberus related activity"

In Greek mythology, the three-headed watchdog who guards the entrance to the lower world, the Hades. It is a child of the giant Typhon and Echidna, a monstrous creature herself, being half woman and half snake.

Originally, the dog was portrayed having fifty or hundred heads but was later pictured with only three heads (and sometimes with the tail of a serpent). Cerberus permitted new spirits to enter the realm of dead, but allowed none of them to leave. Only a few ever managed to sneak past the creature, among which Orpheus, who lulled it to sleep by playing his lyre, and Heracles, who brought it to the land of the living for a while (being the last of his Twelve Labors).

In Roman mythology, the Trojan prince Aeneas and Psyche were able to pacify it with honey cake.

"Sightings coincide with emergency shutdown of Intranet services of heightened security"

Are these "sightings" like Jack seeing his dad, Shannon and Sayid seeing Walt and Kate and Sawyer seeing the horse?

"Stated goal, de-territorial(is the rest of the word cut off?) of Ursus Maritimus through gene therapy and extreme climate change"

Ursus Maritimus, if you didn't know, is the latin name for polar bear, which we've seen on the island. I'm thinking the word may be missing "isation" as in the de-territorialisation of polar bears.

From under The Swan

4, 8, 15, 16, 23, 42

We all know these numbers, far too well

"Systemwide failure of Dharmatel Intranet 4.08.00, 8.15.01, 01.06.05

At first I thought these might be IP addresses, but I'm leaning more towards them being dates now. Scheduled failure dates?

"Complete shutdown in effect"

"PRD of every 6-8 months

Fatalities: 5"

Home of HG delegation inspection of 12.07.81

was Kelvin part of this?

Multiple escape conduits blocked after incident

This is probably the concrete that Sayid and Jack discovered while "under" the hatch.

Possible recreation area for D.I.N.G. survey team

"No *indecipherable* location for Dharmatel *indecipherable*cabling or infrastructure"

Is this a reference to the cable from the ocean Sayid found?

This is my point exactly. Seems like a stretch? Ummmm, polar bears on a tropical island?

"PRD of every 6-8 months

I didn't trust him from the start. At first I thought he was an "other" but it clearly seems he is a Hanso employee. Question is, does he know Desmond or where he is?

:goodposting:
My guess? Divide and conquer. He has been working to divide Jack and Locke since his arrival and he's been succeeding. Perhaps that's why he was allowed to be captured or perhaps once he was captured that was his plan all along -- to drive a wedge within the group so that they would splinter and weakend. By attempting to bond with Locke he may have thought he could lure Locke to his side eventually and that would strengthen the Others and weaken the survivors.Just a guess.

There's a labled map out there based on the best clear example.

I'll find it and post as most of the writings have been translated (Including a bunch of latin)

However small of a point it may be, we did learn something last night - somebody from the outside world knows there are people on this island, with the latest rations being dropped that can only mean someone ordered a plane to fly overhead and make the drop.

And the outside-world people are part of the Dharma project.

I’m thinking the lockdown occurred because of the food drop.
Yup, I mentioned this earlier. No question in my mind the two are connected.
I agree, but the question is why?Does the hatch go into lockdown anytime a plane flys into its radar?

Maybe to protect it from attack?

Or does the hatch go into lockdown since they want to make the supplies look airdropped, and maybe they're not?

Is the scibbled out "hatch" the location that the "tailies" were in?

There's also a question mark outside the main entrance to the Swan Hatch. Anyone have any ideas?

Another thing I noticed is that when the blast door was raised, the "painted wall" was right behind it. Is there anyway someone can superimpose the black light blast door image over the previous "wall painting" image to see if there's any correlation?

Some other pieces from the map.

By the "Flame" station

"Cerberus station believed to have been abandoned doe to AH/MDG incident of 1985"

OR

"Possible catastrophic malfunction of cerberus system"

As someone suggested earlier, is the black smoke the "cerberus system" that went Haywire like say Hal, in 2001?

"Alleged location of #4 The Flame"

"But unlikely due to cerberus activity"

"Alleged location of aborted #7 large number of underground springs/Heavy water table"

"estimated travel time incompatible with 108 do not attempt to survey"

NOW THIS IS INTERESTING. Are all DHARMA locations compatible with a travel time either multiplied or divided by 108?

Edited to add the travel time and to fix words that were indecipherable, perviously.

Some translations:

sursum corda

a Latin versicle meaning `lift up your hearts'

Nil actum reputa si quid superest agendum

Don't consider that anything has been done if anything is left to be done.

cogito ergo doteo

cogito ergo doleo translates into I think therefore I am depressed

credo nos in fluctu eoden es

Credo nos in fluctu eodem esse translates into I think we're on the same wavelength.

mallum consillium quad mutari non potest

Malum consilium quod mutari non potest translates into It's a bad plan that can't be changed.

hic sunt dracones

which translates to, here are dragons. These simple, etched words signified the end of "discovered" lands, words warning sailors of the uncertainty and dangers of the unknown.

Aegrescit medendo

The disease worsens with the treatment. The remedy is worse than the disease.

Ut sit magna, tamen certe lenta ira deorum est.

The wrath of the gods may be great, but it certainly is slow.

Liberte te ex inferus

Save yourself from hell

And the map definitely gives credence to Hulks "happens in the future" theory.

Assuming the map was drawn (or at least added to) during the 1/06/2006 lockdown. Also assuming that it wasn't done by Desmond (although this is uncertain). How long did Desmond say he was pushing the button? 3-4 years?

The plane crash certainly didn't happen in 2004. Even if Desmond was the one drawing the map it couldn't have crashed until 2006, but probably more like 2009-2010.

:goodposting: He sure seemed to pick up on the numbers pretty quickly when Locke was trapped and told him about the countdown.
