I unlocked a few new large karts (Honeycomb and the Piranha Prowler) and they SUCK. I think I'll just still with my Flame Thrower. I did unlock King Boo and Funky Kong which is pretty cool. Funky Kong reminds me of Lil' John when he says "OH YEAH!!!"

I got a star on a couple of them.Does anyone know exactly what keeps you from getting a star and a letter ranking? I can finish 1st overall in points and still not get the star. Do I need to be top 3 in every race or something?I've been trying for the past few days. Mach bike on manual. But it handles kinda mushy on automatic.
I use automatic....haven't messed with manual and don't really want to.

I used auto (for the first time) on the 150cc Flower GP last night and came in a close second without breaking a sweat. Why is the competition so easy compared to manual? Are the other drivers unable to mini-boost also? Funky.

I like the Spear. It's the fastest of all the vehicles I've unlocked so far. The handling and offroad aren't very good, so you have to learn to let off the gas in some of the tighter turns.

When you do "Find a Friend" and it shows your friends that are online, are you selecting "Meet Up" for one of those friends? That's how we get a few of us into the same racing group.

The other night I was playing and in first place. The flying light blue shell came to blow my ### up just when I happened to be huge from eating that mushroom that makes you big (I was in 3rd and used that to bully my way into first). Anyway, when the flying shell hit, I was not affected.
FYI. Has anyone else noticed this, and been able to avoid the flying shell?

I can't seem to beat the expert ghost times. What is the best character/vehicle to use to Luigi Circuit? I've moved to manual in an effort to boost times, but the lowest I can get is 1:21 (need 1:19).
In your opinion, what is the easiest expert times to beat? I know this is all individual preference and your driving style, but let me know what you think. I want to unlock Funky Kong so I need to beat 4.

Luigi Circuit is the easiest - I unlocked it with Peach/Mach Bike (I think).Shy Guy Beach is also easy (using the shortcut) - for that, use something with better than average offroad (Tiny Titan or Superblooper)I unlocked both on automatic. Haven't been racing time trials much in the past 2 weeks...I've been working on starring all the Grand Prix series.

To unlock Funky Kong, you only need to unlock 4 expert ghosts, not beat them. I believe I have unlocked 9 expert ghosts, and 6 of those were from the first 2 cups (mushroom and flower).

I think the 4 easiest to beat are N64 Bowser's Castle, SNES Mario Circuit 3, Maple Treeway, and N64 DK's Jungle Parkway. I use the Mach Bike w/ Peach and wheelie like crazy at every opportunity. When the staff ghost uses karts, they can't always get the orange boost, but bikes can wheelie anywhere.

I've been on the last few nights for varying lengths.I'm going to be on in about 30 minutes for probably a few hours .... I welcome any challenger!!!!!I think you FBG's might be losing interest in this game....every time I go on-line, I don't see anyone on.

My 3-year old has been at the MIL's for the week and that's who I have been playing with the most. I just talked to him on the phone, he's with my wife driving back from Southern Illinois and when I asked him what he wanted to do when he got home, his response was "Mario Cart.....WIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Just like in the game.I think you FBG's might be losing interest in this game....every time I go on-line, I don't see anyone on.
We'll ("Poppy" and one of my son's 7-8 alias MII's) will probably be on in an hour or so.

Just bought got this game and I have to say the item usage by the CPu is VERY frustrating. Its overkill and I dont remember a Mario kart being like that before. Any tips asd to how to avoid some of those are are you pretty much screwed? Also how do you get star rankings?

BTW: I'm on vacation and have been online a lot.
I had this error and read that something overheats if you have the WiiConnect24 on all the time. Got the game yesterday.
I have to say that I love the game, but find it very frustrating. I hate having to unlock half the game playing by myself just so I can fully enjoy it with my friends.
I paid full rice for the game, I should be able to play all of it right out of the box.
I don't like having to jump through so many hoops for a video game. I just want to play it with my friends, and maybe try to set my own records when no one is over. I hate that there is no set way to get a star rating. If I didn't race well enough to win, I should get first in every race. If I get first in every race, then what is the problem?
I also hear it is easier to unlock things on automatic. WTF is up with that? Racing on auto isn't half as fun or rewarding. It shouldn't be easier to unlock things on auto.
Now that all that is off my chest....
What is the easiest way to unlock everything? Should I even bother with the 50cc GPs? Do they all NEED to get starred?
Are the bikes always better than the karts? Which would be the best one to master?

Many are probably way past the point of unlocking the initial fast ghosts, but for those who are still relatively new, I'll pass on this tidbit.
The Magikruiser/Baby Daisy combo is for doing the time trials. Great handling and great offroad ability, with above average speed.
I started playing around with it the other night and unlocked 5 additional fast ghosts on the first try on each course.
