***Official*** Message Board Upgrade Clearinghouse Thread (1 Viewer)

I tried to reply someone who quoted a post I made in February that had a smilie. When I tried to respond, I got the "you've posted more images than you're allowed to" message. When I took out the smilie, the message went away and my reply was posted.

Of course, this could all have been averted if we could, um, actually post pictures.
Yeah, the old editor was wonky and the new one is still being perfected (they're using ckEditor now instead of writing their own, so I think they're on the right path now). If you were running the standard editor on the prior version of the board, for some reason the board occasionally stored your clicked emoticons as posted images rather than smilies. I'm running a job to rebuild the post content now to see if that will help.

Gotcha. It's not a big deal, but just part of the new board kinks.

Now, about that whole picture and "like this" thing...

In all seriousness, any way we can get a color differentiation between the blue dots that indicate every thread and the blue stars for ones you've posted in? Scanning quickly, the stars don't stand out very much and that's what I would use them for. Change them to red or something (maybe orange???).

Yeah, this is going to happen pretty soon.

I wouldn't rule out the "Like This" being turned on eventually. Right now, I'm spending most of my time trying to get things stable, so I haven't had a chance to evaluate the new features. Looks like tags are being used mostly for shtick, though, so my guess is that those will probably wind up getting locked down.

Posting pics would be cool, but when Invision first added the feature, we didn't have the board up and running for an hour before we had a guy posting scat porn. That pretty much ended that.

Unable to use the quick reply function, and can only type in the full reply link after clicking on bold, italics, etc and then deselecting it. Very annoying. Using IE8.

Thanks for the info. Porn spammers suck and ruin it for the rest of us.

:lmao:

I didn't even see that clip, but I still chuckled when I read that.

What about the Return to top on mobile? It's a major PITA to have to scroll all the way up to the top of a long page
:goodposting:
Thanks
It's cool. That pagination bar is getting pretty crowded, though -- I think that's the last thing I will be able to put on there.
Is there any way to put it at the bottom of page 1 when there are no other pages? The "top" button doesn't show at the bottom of one page threads.

Probably so, but the conditional logic is pretty arcane. I'll have to research it a bit.

I am still getting nesting issues on the iPhone. Articles will be nested until one article is just 1 character wide.
I'm not seeing this -- which iOS version?

My only real gripe about mobile version is when looking at the forum page, it says the title and pages of a thread like thisWarning points 5 pagesInstead ofWarning points 1 2 3 4 5Sometimes I want to click page one of a thread, but if I've already read that thread there's no easy way to get back to page one. And its worse if there's 10 or more pages to a thread. Any fix possible for this?
MF, any chance of this being an option?Love the tweaks you've made so far.

Mobile version is all wonky on both my iPhone & iPad tonight.

Sidenote: spellcheck capitalized the P on iPhone & iPad

How do you turn off pictures? I really don't want to get fired because some ##### thinks he is funny.
bump for the pictures...apparently it was just a slow internet connection for the first issue.

Sorry if this has already been covered, but the mobile version on blackberry is almost too quirky to use:

-cant scroll quickly when reading there is a display lag

-page down function is inconsistent (works about 1 in 3 or 4 tries)

-cant quote reply

-fast reply lag is intolerable. Took me about 4 minutes just to type this reply

-auto text not working (ex: the apostrophe in "can't" should have automatically popped in above)

Woah. Full version is even worse - serious typing lag and scrolling is impossible as display layers and becomes unreadable.

There is no longer a way to turn pictures completely off within the software. It's possible to block them using a browser plugin like AdBlock, or you can use the mobile version, which uses smaller/minimal images and less bandwidth overall.

Yeah, sorry man. I'm sure they're not paying much version to Blackberry rendering when designing the skins anymore -- not enough folks using them anymore to justify the work, I guess.

5.1.1(?)Too outdated?
Hmm... Shouldn't be. I've got an original iPad running 5.1.1 and the forums look normal using the full skin or mobile skin. Have you tried clearing your cache?
Same problem here. It happens when there are a bunch of quotes in a row. The GoT big thread has some recent examples.
