*** OFFICIAL*** Minnesota Vikings offseason thread (1 Viewer)

Why would the Vikings try to "smoke screen" who they were taking at 3?
Because if they want Kalil, and if TB wants Claiborne, they can trick TB into swapping 3/5 where they can still get the guy they really want (since there is little or no risk of Cleveland taking Kalil when they have Thomas at LT). Doesn't seem that mysterious IMHO and will be proven if they take Kalil.
It's really a matter of thinking that TB wants either Claiborne or Richardson. If that's the case and TB thinks that the Vikes are going to take Claiborne, and with Cleveland locked into Richardson, then TB may feel pressured to trade up to get one of the two guys they covet. I'm 80% confident the Claiborne talk is smoke and that they're locked into Kalil if they stay at 3.
Again, please be right!

If they got a third round pick and still get their choice of players at 4, that's a great deal. Maybe Spielman is figuring this #### out?

Sounds like a 4th, 5th, and 7th actually. Still think it's a great deal.

NFL channel reporting TWO 4's, a 5, and a 7.

Nice work if you still get Kalil.

Good move by the Vikes unless Cleveland does some crazy trade down to someone that wants Kalil from here, but that would be insane.

That's a really good haul. Although knowing the Vikings it means the second 4th-rounder is in lieu of the 4th overall.
The 4th overall, a 4th (118), a 5th (139) and a 7th (211)

Ok thanks.My bad.

So the Vikings now have 13 picks. I hope that means some moving up later to grab some guys they want to fill some of the many holes they have.

If Tampa trades up to the 4 and the Vikings get more picks and still end up with Kalil I'll stop ripping on Speilman... at least for a while lol

Its early, still worried he's going to over spend to move up. But happy he got Kalil.
They should be able to give their 2nd and one of their 4th's to get back into the 20's in the first...
Yeah, they'll likely need to leapfrog St. Louis and Indy to grab a WR(if that's their preference) if someone like Randle or Hill is falling to the late 20s. Patriots at 27? They love trading down.

Give them credit.. got Khalil AND 3 extra picks!!
Yyyeeeeeessssss!!! I said it first back in October that Kalil was the guy. Kudos to Spielman for getting the extras!
 Guy is redeeming himself! Maybe his rep is a bit overblown!
:goodposting: Got the player they wanted and added 3 more picks to use as trade bait or take players.

Nice job for Minny.

Kalil should be solid for 10ish years.

When they have been good...it has been built on O and Dline.

A cover corner is nice...but don't they play more cover 2 and rely on the rush to take care of the secondary? While there are holes back there...keeping the new QB upright seems far more important.

Just turned the draft on. I'm confused.

Minnesota swapped picks with Clevelan, but did Cle think Vikes were gonna take Richardson? Or did they have another team try to move up?

Cleveland thought another team was moving up for Richardson... or at least thought they might, wanted to be sure they got their guy.
