One parking lot decision makes a fan base, I guess. But hardly. Lot of good Dodger fans. Lot of good fans everywhere. Some bad people in some bad places with bad allegiances.

Yeah, the broad-brush painting of fanbases is so overdone, every town has their share of d-bags.

ESPN said something about the Doyers being the biggest dog since ‘88 when they played the A’s. Don’t know the odds but the ‘90 Reds and ‘03 Marlins had to be bigger dogs. What a stupid narrative.

Dodgers are the deepest team in the league and they underachieved because their manager is a moron. That’s a 105 win team if I was coaching them.

I don't like all this talk about the Dodgers being a big dog.  They really aren't at all.

I think we are looking at a 7 game series.  Boston can hit their way out of trouble but giving the Dodgers the pitching edge, which could be the difference.  It would be almost shocking at this point if Kimbrel does not blow a game.   Hopefully the real Chris Sale shows up, they are going to need a lot of heart out of him to take it down.

Can’t let Machado beat you. That is my #1

i think if the Sox can get into the pen in 5th/6th innings they will be fine. Agree w JtC, this one has at least 6 games written all over it.

This matchup had an inevitable feel to it, given the way the year went. I think the Dodgers are really, really good. I think Dr. D is right and that they should have won a hundred.

That’s not possible. They were +115 yesterday. There has to have been multiple teams with longer odds just in this past decade.

I don’t understand starting these games so late. If you want to grow a fan base, you can’t start the championship games at like 8:30 in the east coast where nearly half the population lives.

I was curious and the only history I found was at sportsoddhistory.com:

Home Away

2004 Red Sox -145 Cardinals 125

2005 White Sox -130 Astros 110

2006 Tigers -210 Cardinals 175

2007 Red Sox -240 Rockies 200

2008 Rays -145 Phillies 125

2009 Yankees -200 Phillies 170

2010 Giants 125 Rangers -145

2011Cardinals 135 Rangers -155

2012 Giants 155 Tigers -175

2013 Red Sox -140 Cardinals 120

2014 Royals -110 Giants 100

2015 Royals -104 Mets -116

2016 Indians 165 Cubs -190

2017 Dodgers -160 Astros 140

It only goes back to 2004, but their comment must have been for the Dodgers only.   That's really a meaningless thing they brought up if that is the case lol

Fangraphs had Dodgers third order wins at 105 :oldunsure:

MLB app is telling me something about getting free Taco Bell thanks to the stolen base from Mookie.

I guess that's another reason to root for LA.

WTF is Buck talking about with the Red Sox don’t care about launch angle when they have JD Martinez in their lineup? It’s all the guy talks about

Joe Buck is a ####### moron. Worst announcer in the game.

I hope he gets aggressive throat AIDS from a visit to The Alley Bar tonight and misses the rest of the series.

Sox LF must have a noodle arm to not even try a throw to the plate there

Manny MVP campaign right on track

Joe Buck is America’s arbiter of hustle. Though he let Benintedi off much lighter than he did Machado - despite the fact Manny would still have been out if he hustled, whereas Benintedi cost himself a base

Can't figure out why Kershaw is such a hot mess in the postseason.

It's too bad because when Sale came off the DL the first time he was throwing 99 in Baltimore.

Then, right back on the DL.

Everybody in this thread can probably agree about Joe Buck. When McCarver called games with him, it was horrible. The Sox/Yankee rivalry was so bad, and McCarver was such a doddering homer by that point (before the stroke) that it made every Fox game an, um, experience.

Game on 4-hour pace and that’s before the parade of relievers begins. Good game but no way I make it near the end

Congratulations Warstick on the free commercial. Jack White happy he can now go home. Let’s see if Fox comes through with the White Stripes tune at the end of this inning

That's why I'm.only the most casual of fans anymore. If I didn't have family so into it, I wouldn't see it. It's just too much of a time investment.

And they've been playing Seven Nation Army quite often tonight...it's just subtle. And I can hear strains of the crowd doing it and wondered why. Guess we found out why.

You’d like the Fenway organist @rockaction I already heard him play “Waiting Room” by Fugazi tonight
