Just spoke with Alan Evans the father of 5-star OLB, Rashaan Evans and here's the latest- Gus Malzahn will be in to see Rashaan at 3 PM today with Kirby Smart coming in later. He adds that Rashaan will announce at Auburn High School with only media close family/friends being present- no students.
So if Uhaul/Moving truck shows up at Alan Evans house on the day before signing day then you know it is Alabama?
You've got him.
Certainly looks like it - should be in good shape on the front 7 with some real quick guys that can get after the QB

Saturday was an eventful day in 5-star outside linebacker Rashaan Evans' recruitment. Evans hosted both Alabama and Auburn on in-home visits prior to his grandfather's 80th birthday party, which was held later on Saturday night.

*** Here's a quick quote from Evans' father, Alan, on the day's events: "Party went great. Gus Malzahn and Kirby (Smart) came. Malzahn brought (Rhett) Lashlee, (Rodney) Garner, (Charlie) Harbison and (Melvin) Smith. Kirby brought Lance (Thompson), Bo (Davis), and (Burton) Burns with him. It was a night to remember. Alabama and Auburn in the same building, it was a once in a lifetime event."

*** Early returns are the in-home and party went well from the Alabama side of things. Evans and his family are still in the decision-making process and are expected to sit down in the coming days and further discuss his options. Things have tightened up a little more and Alabama remains squarely in the mix for the nation's top-ranked uncommitted prospect.

*** Another interesting note: sources say that Evans' former teammate and friend, Reuben Foster, was at the party and left with Rashaan at one point.

Foster is the 5-star LB from Auburn High who flipped late last year from AU to UA. I'm sure it's nothing.

Foster was a carpetbagger from LaGrange

Alabama trending on UA and AU boards with Evans. To the point that some AU fans are attacking him via twitter...which Evans is retweeting.

Pretty humorous imagining the scene with Gus, Smart, et all sitting around together at his party.

"When we got to the party about eight o'clock it was a packed house at the hotel," Evans told AL.com. "We walked in and the first people we saw was the entire Auburn staff standing there on our left and to my right was Kirby Smart and the Bama staff. I was like 'This has never happened in Auburn before and probably never will again.'

"As we went in, we were pulled left and right all night from Auburn to Bama. The coaches shook hands and talked but you could tell they were there for one thing and one thing only. Then the live band started playing and the Alabama and Auburn coaches hit the dance floor. It was unbelievable. I just couldn't stop laughing."

Certain AU boards went into complete meltdown last night about Evans, cussing him and his family. Someone sent him the comments on twitter last night, which he retweeted. AU's Rivals guy has Evans down to 50% AU, 30% UA, 20% UCLA, and 100% cluster#### recruitment.

Sounds like John Smith is down to USC and Oregon. Always was considered a strong USC lean but now Oregon looks very good for Smith. One of his high school coaches thinks he will choose Oregon. At a high school function this week he ended a speech with "go ducks"

Yeah I could see him just flipping out and deciding not to sign on signing day.

Well at least they are just cussing him out .. if he was the son of a former Bama player living in Tuscaloosa and had made hints at going to Auburn his dog would be dead right now

This M McDowell recruitment is a freakin' circus. Parents making spectacles of themselves. Not sure Michigan needs any more drama than they have going right now.

Link to story? My buddy just said the same thing and I haven't followed him since he's not been on the Miami radar.

Crystal Ball jumped Oregon up to 20%...USC down to 60%...looks like the majority of the Oregon votes came in the last few days...including the last 6 in a row and national guy JC Shurburt.

:towelwave: A lot of schools have close to a full class, so other than some flips...could be a quiet day.

Alabama guy who picked Hand to flip to UA has picked Evans to Auburn.

Biggest surprises are Tennessee and just how bad the Texas class became under Strong.
We'll see how Texas ends, but I've never really seen a coach hire in January have a great class. I recall a few ranked around #10...Saban, Kiffin, Dooley even...but it's tough to keep it together. Especially now for Texas with the SEC having a lot of success there.

I heard there could be 7 5-stars from the state of Texas for '15...which is ridiculous...that will be the crucial cycle for Strong.

I'm not sure there's a good link. I'll see what I can find. Been following it via twitter, but apparently mom (and dad??) have flat out said they'd be happy with anyone but MSU, which of course, has MSU boards in a full on rage.

I'd like to see a list showing these 7 5-stars.

Here's one Slider....she's been on several radio shows apparently. Seems like they (mom and dad) are very concerned with him staying close to home. I think there is concern with the company he keeps and staying home would allow him to keep that company.

I think it was JC Shurburt who mentioned it yesterday on XM. I don't see it either really...but these guys are all in the top 25 in the early 247 rankings:

Mack, Sheffield, Jefferson, Tuehema, Jamabo.

Tuehama is with LSU now. Along with his brother.

Tennessee seems to have some legit recruits this time around. Hopefully we are headed in the right direction finally.

Slider....apparently, this is how it all started:

Malik McDowell, DE, Detroit: It's become a soap opera for this elite pass-rusher whose parents publicly said this week they want him to go out-of-state, not to Michigan State. McDowell's mother became turned off by the Spartans after she overheard her son have a conversation with current players about not going to class, according to a source close to the situation. McDowell took an official visit to Ohio State last weekend, but if he makes his own decision, Michigan State is still very much in the hunt. Should McDowell's parents have the final say, watch out for the Florida State, which believes it has won over both mom and dad.

How does Treon Harris chose Florida over Auburn after seeing what those two coaching staffs just did? He was a perfect fit for Malzahn.

Our bag-man is staying local this year to ensure Evans is signing. Harris slipped through the cracks.

Thanks for the link, I'll read it shortly. Being on the West Coast, I get started on all of this way late. I saw that he did actually pick MSU.

I agree that Auburn would have been great fit for him. From what I read, Roper offered him as soon as he was hired at UF and he will be given a shot against Driskell (and the other guy) right now whereas he would have redshirted at Auburn unless he was able to get up to #2. Roper will do a good job with him, but I think Muschamp is a dead man walking there. I don't understand how any recruit could look at that situation and want to go there.

Commish, there is hope. Twitter is blowing up saying that Malik McDowell hasn't faxed in his paperwork yet. His mom apparently doesn't want him to go to MSU.

This happened in a battle between Bama/Auburn a few years back.

Hope for what? After the last few months of this circus, MSU can have him. His mom (and dad) both said if it were their choice he wouldn't go to MSU. "Anywhere but Michigan State". He'll go to MSU. I wouldn't want him at Michigan if he didn't want to be there.

Sounds like Dad is supporting whatever MM decides, Mom's not on board yet.

I feel bad for the kid. His parents have put him through hell during this whole process.

LSU's big morning on National Signing Day vaulted the Tigers' 23-player recruiting class to No. 2 in the nation on ESPN.com and Rivals.com sites. In the ESPN rankings, LSU moved up from No. 4, passing No. 3 Texas A&M and No. 4 Florida State, the reigning national champ.LSU got letters of intent from stars such as John Curtis High School wide receiver Malachi Dupre and defensive tackle Travonte Valentine to start the day strong. Other players who made their decisions Wednesday and boosted the Tiger efforts were defensive tackle Trey Lealaimotofao of San Antonio's Earl Warren High School, Texas and defensive end Sione Teuhema of Keller (Texas) High School.

Alabama was ranked No. 1 among the seven SEC teams in the ESPN top 10.

11:35 a.m. ET: They won't catch Alabama, but LSU's massive Signing Day haul has bumped them into the No. 2 slot in the current 247Sports Team Composite Rankings, leapfrogging No. 3 Ohio State and No. 4 Florida State. The next five teams are all SEC representatives -- in order, Texas A&M, Tennessee, Florida, Auburn and Georgia -- before Notre Dame at No. 10.
