I think that is what I stumbled upon...and that UM thinks his transcripts are a wreck.

But ya, I bet he is a stud
Yea....apparently a big deal for all parties that he plays his senior year. But he will also graduate in Dec and enroll early wherever he goes. Saban spent a lot of time at the recent summer camp with him separated and throwing. It's so hit and miss with QBs though...and Saban has said he thinks dual threat kids are a smart way to go. But if the kid can throw and is 6'5"...

The only question I believe is whether he can play football, because he sat out a year of school when his mother was sick. He's going to graduate in December if he plays or not.

The school official in question comes off as a real jackhole in that article.

UCLA, over the past two weeks, received verbal commitments from the top two JC OLs in the country, Dominick Jackson and Jermaine Eluemenore, both four stars. They hope to receive a commitment soon from 4 star OG Demetrius Knox soon.

I'm very pleased with the OL recruiting right now.

Interesting, I don't remember seeing UCLA's name attached to Knox. I'll have to go back and read closer.

Found it. I didn't pay close attention to the whole blurb.

Demetrius Knox (6’4” 300, OL, 2014, Fort Worth, TX)

Knox is a Texas de-commit and told me that he felt he was growing apart from the Texas coaches and that they seemed different. Many believe OSU is the front-runner but he recently visited the University of Miami and said he loved it, that he felt the coaches were like father figures. The decision will not be an easy one. He is also looking at UCLA, Oregon, FSU.

It may all be BS, but UCLA has been very good in recruiting OLs the last two seasons+, and Knox has indicated to UCLA that he's coming. We'll see, though, as "silent" commits have (and do) switched at the last moment. I'm looking at you, Kyle Allen (among others).

However, with Adrian Klemm as OL coach, the Bruins have pretty much closed on who they've targeted.

Apparently the #1 overall prospect Da'Shawn Hand has named his final 3....Michigan, Florida, and Alabama. UA a late surge....as VT drops out from being a co-favorite.

@KevinScarbinsky: Da'Shawn Hand on Smashmouth: My top 3 is Alabama, Florida and Michigan.

@KevinScarbinsky: Da'Shawn Hand on Smashmouth: Spent 4 days at Ala. They know how to put on a show down there. Players. Staff. They have formula for greatness

@KevinScarbinsky: Da'Shawn Hand on Smashmouth: Will take 5 officials. Alabama, Michigan, Florida, USC and LSU. That's the list. Won't change.

Yeah, I believe that blurb was from an OSU blog, so it's definitely slanted toward them.

UM has a pretty great OL class in the works with Knox & Martinez as the 5th target to round it out.

David Cornwell commits to Alabama. #1 QB for 247 and #3 in the composite.

First 5-star QB UA has signed since Brodie Croyle.

Interesting stuff going on in Texas. Here are the top 10 players in the state per 247, with the latest forecasts:

1. Brown - LSU heavy fav.

2. Garrett - A&M heavy fav.

3. Scott - A&M commit

4. Thomas - UT heavy fav.

5. Adams - UF trending heavily, now favorite

6. Paris - LSU commit

7. Cannon - Baylor heavy fav.

8. Harvey - A&M commit

9. Hall - Baylor commit

10. Sumner-Gardner - A&M commit

UT may only get 1 of the top 10? Mack can't survive this much longer.

I thought I read recently that Thomas might be leaning to Stanford. Maybe I'm wrong, though. UCLA is trying like hell to get him, too. I think he's very good friends with incoming UCLA OL, Caleb Benenoch, who is also from Texas. But, again (and I'm not sure where I read it), I think the Scout guys think he might be Stanford's to lose.

So maybe 0 fer 10?! That would leave a mark.

Scratch one of those Top Two off the list... ;)

Yeah, that's a weird one. He received the Alabama offer in May only to commit to UCLA a few weeks later. He says he's never been outside California before and still hasn't visited Alabama, but decommits from UCLA and commits to Alabama 20 days after committing to UCLA.

Apparantly Adrian Klemm and UCLA aren't going to go down without a fight, so we'll see what happens. This is a big blow, though.

On the flip side, UCLA is now going hard after OL Viane Talamaivao, an Alabama commit from the IE.

Coach Cristobal is a stud (thanks Miami)...who's also in charge of Talamaivo. VT is vocal about pushing other west coast recruits like Luatua to Alabama. I'd be pretty surprised if he flips....but you never know.

Not to mention, there are rumblings that Urban is going to flip Elamunor. He cancelled a visit to Wisconsin and plans to decide in the next week, or so.

I don't think Luatua needs much pushing. He's going to follow his brother there barring something crazy.

Talamaivo has been at UCLA unofficially several times in the last few weeks. You better watch your back! :gang1:

He already decided. Urban might flip him, but he spoke to UCLA and reconfirmed his commitment to UCLA last week after visiting Ohio St. Still, nothing is solid until they sign (and not even then, necessarily).

Kudos to you Gump, for keeping me informed. I just have to read this thread every couple weeks to stay on top of things.

I used to know the inside scoop on every Bama recruit out there, but since Saban got here, it's almost become boring. I know that sounds silly, but you know he's going to get a top 3 class, so it's almost not worth following. If we miss out on a stud, he'll grab another one.

Viane Talamaivao has decommited from Alabama and committed to Southern Cal. It sounds like Tyler Lauatua has been dropped by most of the big schools that were recruiting him and will now probably end up at Notre Dame.

Tough year for the blue.
yep...also saw this tweet from a Buckeye honk re: this weekend's game...
jbook ‏@jbook37 24 Nov

Michigan and Brady Hoke planning a monster recruiting weekend for the Ohio State game. Many common recruits. Calculated risk for Hoke.
Michigan better put up a decent fight or those common recruits may not be common for long.
Seems fairly simple to me. If you are looking to go to the NFL, I would want to be under Urban. If you aren't an NFL talent but a damn good player who wants a primo education, then Michigan it is. I'm sure OSU is a fine school but it's no Michigan. IMO Michigan is one of the very few schools where academics should come into play for the top recruits.

Maybe offensively I can see this. I'd put up Mattison over Urban or Fickle any day on defense. What he's done with those guys he was given is remarkable. There's been rumblings since he "committed" that he wanted to take other visits. A lot of the faithful haven't considered him committed. I have never considered him a lock....lots can happen coming to signing day.

ETA: Supposedly it's resurfaced because of "rumors" that Hoke could be out the door....which is ridiculous at this point.

As we expected, the Hoke rule about dropping a scholarship offer if a committed player looks around didn't last long.

Not sure I follow....his rule is that the player is not considered "committed" so if someone else comes along and commits and that's the last spot at the position, the kid committing gets it. It happened twice in the last class and once in this class at the OT position. He's never dropped the offer that I'm aware of.

I thought it was more aggressive. If that's all it is, not sure why that made news last year....most coaches do the same thing. We know there will be a spot for Peppers, no matter what he does or how long he waits.

 I don't know how many coaches do it. His philosophy, right or wrong, is to take the time necessary to make the right decision but in doing so understand there are other fish and only so many spots on the team. I don't know of many coaches that take that approach especially when in the situation Michigan's in. Can only go what the recruits say and coaches claim. I've heard stories of coaches pulling the "commit or else" shtick on visits etc. As for Peppers, there's going to be room regardless. They aren't hot and heavy on many more recruits and they have a few open spots, so yeah...he'll have a spot. The only other one that I know of that they'd really like to have is McDowell and they have 2-3 spots left.

Most coaches will 'shop if you shop'. And all of would love a recruit to make the right decision up front and stick to it. But that's not reality. So coaches can talk tough, but in the end will make room for studs who waffle.

There is a 0% chance Hoke would ever run out of room for a stud like Peppers, so any kind of public tough talk just comes across as fluff.

As I said before...I can only go by what the coach says and the recruits say. There's SOMETHING different if media and recruits mention it. What that is, I don't know. Maybe it's just that he doesn't try to pressure them into commitments on the spot during visits...dunno.

5-star Safety Hootie Jones...the #30 overall prospect in the Composite rankings...from Monroe, LA...committed to Alabama this morning.

 Good timing!

Peppers is coming for his official this weekend with the rest of the 2014 class (minus a couple). Not sure where he went for his others, or how they went, but there's a dead period coming right? It appears Michigan has a fantastic start on the 2015 class with the #1 WR and RB (at least until a cooler school signs someone at those positions). Looks like they'll be getting the offensive help. Just hope Borges is the kind that will be able to develop it.

And then there's like a week or so in Jan that it's lifted right?? I haven't seen that he's gone on any visits since the twitter comment...he's going to be pretty busy that week or so....either that or this was much to do about nothing.

This could be a crazy year if Saban does go to Texas. Bama fans might appreciate all he has done, but when he starts flipping recruits it's gonna get ugly.

I think the dead period starts on Monday and runs past the MNC game. Think it even runs until the Monday after the Coaches Conference thing the weekend after the MNC game.
