Anyone hear anything about Jim Johnson resigning as the Eagles defensive coordinator?

They said it on 610 WIP, said it was unconfirmed, though.

I just have to say CONGRATS to all the Saints fans...from a 10-year Buc season-ticket holder.

I have 2 Jazz Fest posters on my wall in my den...another Mardi Gras statue in the hall. I've been to several Sugar Bowls...Jazz Fests..Mardi Gras...parades...concerts at Tipatina's and the House of Blues...

I love New Orleans...it is an American City if there ever was one.

Congrats guys! :goodposting:

Deuce McAllister has had a solid season. Nice run after the catch.
I can't think of a single reason not to keep Deuce and Bush together back there. Bush is turning into a playmaker and with all his catches he gets all the touches he needs. They have a RB that can get hit at the 5 and bounce it around for a TD and one that can get hit at the 5 and push the pile in. Plus every time Bush gets tricky Deuce comes in and razzle dazzles his way through. Awesome backfield and great job by Payton to use them both very very well.
I agree wholeheartedly. There has been some talk around the league of cutting Deuce in a year or two, but none of it is coming from New Orleans. Deuce has his big paycheck and this will extend his career, and Payton is making sure Bush is getting his touches so he is happy. It is also helpful that they are winning.
Maybe I phrased it wrong, I wasn't implying that there was any discontent or any rumors of it. It's just a natural idea that gets tossed around when an aging vet, especially coming off a big injury, finds himself in competition with a gift of a #1 pick (even if it's at #2). A lot of vets would find insult in it and a lot of fans would be cheering for new blood. That's clearly not the case and I could see them playing together for a long time, with Bush evntually becoming the main and Deuce the COP. A great situation to be in!

I think that false start call was a little iffy ......but hey....the Saints played well and wanted it more. Tha being said, I thought it was kind of low class to have that sign hanging in the end zone that said "Thanks America, But the Saints are New Orleans Team." With the amount of money that us American taxpayers sent to that city..we should all get an honorary home jersey.
The good thing about false starts is, they're not iffy. You either twitch or you don't. It's the easiest call for a ref to make. And I have no link but I read that kids from neighborhoods that aren't yet rebuilt and live in shelters are all going to skip eating one day a week until they can repay the taxpayers for all their forced donations with home jerseys. They hope their "hunger strike " will help ease the burden we taxpayers have had to undergo for providing families with non essentials like heat and clothing. Although, and again no link, the article pointed out that since the jersey sales send a percentage to the Katrina relief fund that by doing so (with no doubt OUR money still) they're just in it for their percentage so they can buy a second pair of jeans and some notebook paper. That was clearly one of the most selfish and ignorant posts of the year. After the hell they went through the last year you're coming down on them for being proud of their team and thanking all who helped voluntarily and with those pesky tax dollars forced from our wallet that could be better spent lining the pockets of defense contractors. Weak, an embarassing sense of entitlement from your cozy internet equipped home.Like the man said at halftime, just because the hurricane was last year doesn't mean everything is fixed today. The Red Cross and a variety of other orgs can still use help for NO and other places across the country. Especially now in winter where not having a roof or a jacket could be the difference between living or dying. So league champs (and anyone), lets send in a percentage of our winnings to NO or anywhere you prefer. It's a lot like found money so maybe our geekery and obsessiveness can help some others out whose biggest worry is a lot more severe than whether to start Bulger or Garcia.

Andy has always been lousy at clock management. To me he should have called timeout here:

2-11-PHI43 (2:37) B.Westbrook right end to PHI 44 for 1 yard (S.Fujita).
They should have set up for 2 plays to get 10 yards.
God! Westbrook dropped like 6 balls and he catches this one. And it was a hard catch too, he's great at making those great catches when you don't want him too(See: catch at feet on own 5 yard line at the end of superbowl)That being said, they still got off another play before the 2minute warning. I don't think you call timeout there.

I kwow a lot question Andy's decision to punt, but he took a calculated gamble with 2 TOs remaining.
No. It was really the worst decision I've seen a coach make in a long, long time. Any sport. Ever.I'm not kidding here. It was the equivalent of giving up. Any coach in any sport should be ashamed to ever make such a ridiculous decision. It's laughable and shameful, depending on your perspective.
Calling a pitch at end of game is much much worse in my opinion. Could you imagine if it was Reid who made that call and not Payton. The amount of outrage there would be, It'd be complete mahyem!

Guy should fall on his sword...along with Andy Panda.
I love Jimmy, but was shocked not to see them bring heat on that 3rd and 8 completion to Colston. Can't remember a 3rd and Long like that in crucial situation where Jimmy didn't bring the house. Hope JJ stays but they definatley shouldn't take his opinions anymore on what linebackers to aquire.

Great game to watch.. bottom line, Eagles D got beaten up pretty bad by Deuce and the Saints.. they couldn't stop him.. Giving up 435 yards in a playoff game is terrible-- did Dawkins even play? Big time players step up and make plays when your team needs them... where was he?

I agree that punting on 4th ad 15 was a horrible decision, especially when you know your D can't stop the run...

I'm not the selfish one Chief.... its the tool who hung the sign in the end zone. Whether it be the organization or an individual, that showed no class to the entire country; many of whom root for the city of NO and the Saints because of what happened down there.

I should also point out for everyone not from New Orleans that Saints fans HATE the Cowboys. One of the reasons the "America's Team" label doesn't work for us is that it's the Cowboys' label. It would be sort of like deciding that Green Bay should be called the "Monsters of the Midway." They'd turn that down, too.

Your jersey's in the mail. I sent plenty of my tax dollars there as well as other donations and not only wasn't I offended but I liked the sign. Maybe you didn't see the "thanks" part of the sign. Anyway, arguing with you seems pointless and it isn't me you have to prove yourself too. Good luck with getting satisfaction from your tax "gifts" to NO.

Yea, Eagles fan here, and I asked that same question after the game. But he can't be faulted, he was probably tired for carrying the defense for the previous 7 weeks. He willed the defense to get us to last night, so I can't blame him. Maybe Reid will realize that the linebacker position is pretty important and go get some quality players there, can't have this same run defense next year.

It seemed like a choice that a computer would make. Any person that was watching that game knew what the deal was. Saints had trouble stopping the Eagle pass game, Eagles had trouble stopping the Saints run game. The decision might have been the right one on paper, but they don't play the games in a simulator.

You do realize that New Orleans residents pay taxes too, right?

So, seriously, I'm watching the game in the bar at a restaurant and knew Philly was going for it on 4th and 15. They had to.But wait...they punted? I chuckled at how Reid had just quit on his team and given up the game and we left the restaurant. Reid did a good job this year. Jeff Garcia was especially admirable in his performance after McNabb went down. But there is no possible way to look at the punt at the end other than Reid giving up. Or he's really, really stupid. And I actually think Reid is smart. So those are your two choices about Reid's decision. Either he's really stupid or he gave up. There is no third alternative.
 But the third choice is that Reid really does have a "thing" for McNabb and forced Philly to lose in order to protect McNabb's eggshell ego. :lmao: I am not saying that the Iggles would have converted 4 and 15 but I believe that going for it would have been a better option regardless. Good win by the Saints, lots of emotion and strong, heads up plays... I think they will certainly be a solid handful for whoever the play next week. I would pick them over both of the teams that are playing today.

"And in the first round of the 2007 NFL draft, the New Orleans Saints select (insert cover cornerback here)."
Asante Samuel (spelling) is a FA that the Pats won't likely want to pay. Bring him in and use the 1st rounder on a LB and the Saints will be set.
