**SNF Vikings at Lions** (-3, 56) 8:20 (1 Viewer)

Is it possible the Vikings just aren’t that good? I mean, what’s their best win this year? On the road vs the Packers? Guess what — the Packers aren’t that good……

Honest question.
The Vikings are good. As are the Packers.

Vikings beat:
San Fran in week 2
Houston
GB
Lost to Lions by 2
Arizona
Atlanta
Seattle
GB

Packers beat:
Lost by 5 to PHilly
Rams
Arizona
Houston
Miami
Seattle

None of those are really good wins. Rams? Houston? Seattle? None of those teams even belong in the playoffs. SF was sort of healthier in week 2 — but even that win came with CMC sitting out.

Neither team has a single win against a true Super Bowl contender. Minnesota’s best win? Beating Green Bay.

By this logic the Lions aren’t good either. They haven’t beaten a Super Bowl contender. Best wins are over Minnesota who isn’t that good.

Who knows? Maybe. The Lions are also putting up historically great advanced stats (which Bobby Layne shares in various threads) and blowing out a bunch of teams. I haven’t seen the same for Minnesota.

Packer's "aren't good" because they went 1-5 verus the NFC North, but they went 10-1 versus the rest of the NFL.

The Vikings "aren't great" but they went 14-1 when not playing Detroit.

Detroit won more games in a single regular season than all but 8 other NFL teams (105 years.) The most wins by a team of the four years of the 17-game era.

I know....we could settle these arguments in a single elimination tournament to determine who is the best team.

Who do you consider a really good team so we can dissect them?

Philly? They lost to Tampa, Atlanta and Washington
KC - Please. They barely scraped by half their games
Buffalo? They lost to the Rams and Houston who you just said weren't good.
Baltimore? They lost to Vegas and Cleveland

So who is better than Detroit and the Vikings? They lost 5 games COMBINED.
Same as Balitmore
One more loss than Buffalo
Two more than Philly

Lions outscored their opponents by 222; that is 62 points more than the 2nd most team point differential, but on a historical basis, only 25th. On a PPG, I'm guessing they'd be pretty far down the list. They set several franchise records related to offense and scoring which were NFL Top 5 all-time, but lots of teams have had a larger PD.

They are the first team to win three games by 38 points or more in a season, but not sure what that proves other than they are capable of scoring efficiently. One game they scored 52 and won by 38 whilst passing for 85 yards and being outgained nearly 2:1, but turnovers and insanely good kick returns resulted in several short fields for Detroit that day.

You act as though the teams they lost to suck.

The Rams are good. Beat the Bills. Took the Lions to the brink of OT opening week.
Darnold played lights out all year up until it mattered.

GB was beat up going into the game and lost several key players throughout the game.

All of the Vikes losses are to teams in the NFC final four. All of GB's losses are to teams in the final four and Minny. They are good teams but maybe not elite teams. Injuries for the Packers and Darnold turning into a pumpkin were their downfalls. Doesn't take away from them being quality teams.
