Besides his dollar value- is there something wrong with Mawae?

I would think his value in skill set AND leadership would be an asset to a team like the Texans or Browns?

I saw this blurb about him:Mawae's future is less tied to money than it is the team's desire to rebuild the offensive line. The Jets will save just $1.1 million against the salary cap by releasing him.

Well - there is a start in getting protection from David Carr - and a player who can call the line play and be confident with. Add Ferguson and the line has some validity.

Local sources in Indy indicate that Stokley is cheaper to keep than release.I was under impression that Reagor had reworked contract these last few days to avoid release.

Names in local press are Rhodes, Glenn and sometimes Nick Harper.

Nice list Big Tex.

Chiefs wants Stills back at a reduced price. I believe he's their all time leader in special teams tackles.

Rams want Bruce back too.

FWIW Pats cut CB Poteat and re-signed him over the weekend.

Brent Alexander has retired and unretired and seems thoroughly confused as to what to do.

Rams just released WR Isaac Bruce.....  LINK

Wow.
Well, Philly just had a number 1 WR fall into their lap. Bruce, Pinkston, Brown and Lewis would be MUCH better than what they currently have. We'll see if they take advantage of it......
I don't think Bruce is a #1 (well in Philadelphia he might be) but he certainly will get a ton of interest from a number of teams. The guy is still solid when healthy and he still has some gas left in the tank for an occasional big day. He's a nice fit for several teams as a #2 WR.

Agreed, but he is a huge upgrade over Pinkston and Lewis. Brown and Bruce is actually a respectable 1-2 punch at WR.

With a QB like Donovan, they could have a 1 1A situation like they had in St Louis. Bruce still has great hands and is not so old that he couldn't put up another couple 1000+ yard seasons. I agree that he would be a great fit with Philly.

Buccaneers | Griese could be released and re-signed

Tue, 7 Mar 2006 21:16:41 -0800

Roy Cummings, of the Tampa Tribune, reports the Tampa Bay Buccaneers could release QB Brian Griese and then re-sign him later at a reduced rate. Though negotiations aimed at keeping Griese off the free-agent market are ongoing, Bucs general manager Bruce Allen said Tuesday, March 7, there's a chance Griese will hit the market anyway. Griese's agent, Ralph Cindrich, has said repeatedly that failure to extend the collective bargaining agreement would likely result in the release of Griese, whose 2006 contract is slated to count $7.08 million against the salary cap.

Patriots cut ties with McGinest

Ouch!

GRAPEVINE, Texas -- Only minutes after the NFL's owners voted 30-2 to extend the collective bargaining agreement six years, the Patriots ended their 12-year agreement with all-time postseason sack leader Willie McGinest, according to one NFL personnel director last night.

The Boston Globe's Ron Borges and Jerome Solomon report that the Patriots have ended their 12-year relationship with outside linebacker Willie McGinest. The decision was based on a high salary cap figure.

DALLAS COWBOYS-Signed WR Terrance Copper and WR Patrick Crayton to one-year contracts
FYI they were each signed to 1 year 385k deals. IMO Crayton showed something, is worth more, and this might be a huge mistake with 2 older WRs ahead of him.

CINCINNATI BENGALS-Released DE Duane Clemons.

NEW YORK GIANTS-Agreed to terms with CB Sam Madison on a four-year contract.

ST. LOUIS RAMS-Agreed to terms with WR Isaac Bruce on a three-year contract.
