Sabres may have won the O'Reilly trade with the way Tage is looking.
Blues+O'Reilly = 1 Stanley Cup
Sabres + Thompson = haven't sniffed the playoffs yet

While Buffalo is trending in the right direction and Tage looks like a beast if he can keep it up, still gonna score that one as a win for the Blues. If Tage brings a Cup or two to Buffalo, then will re-assess.

of course.

Tage may score 50 goals and hit 100 points this year though. Pretty nice return given how terrible the deal looked for awhile.

For his size the body control he has is astounding. That goal the other night with the spin around back-hand pass to himself and then deke was incredible.

Sabres are not far off. They have two good scoring lines now, a solid 4th line, and a very good young top-4 on defense. Their 3rd line and goaltending are a disaster though.

I'm sure some teams out there could use Middlestadt or Oloffson but they are getting squeezed out since they both seem pretty useless at 5v5.

Rick Nash is not walking through that door, fans. Nick Foligno is not walking through that door, and Sergei Bobrovsky is not walking through that door. And if you expect them to walk through that door, they're gonna be gray and old.

Ovechkin now less than 100 goals from catching Gretzky, 99 goals behind #99 after 2 empty netters tonight.

And before someone complains about him scoring ENGs, Gretzky had 56 in his career, Ovi has 51, I believe.

I heard someone say the other day that the closest comp for that combination of size and puck/body control for Tage was... Mario Lemieux.

Obviously the full package isn't at that level but in terms of how he moves on the ice, I can totally see where that comp makes sense.

Matt Murray > Jack Campbell. Two periods is enough imo
4.05 & 0.826
Yeah that's enough of that
Campbell has given up 2 goals in 2:40 and was a complete sieve after Christmas unfortunately.
Team Campbell
At the 1/3 mark of the season:
Top goalies in GSAA (goals saved above average)

1. Sorokin +18.9
2. Hellebuyck +18.3
3. Hart +15.1
4. Vemeljka +14.8
5. Ullmark +13.4
6. Skinner +13.2
7. Murray +12.1
.
.
.
76. Campbell -10.9
77. Demko -11.4
78. Merzlikins -14.9

I love Campbell but he's not the answer. And Murray means nothing until he plays in a playoff game.

lemieux wasn’t even close to tage. tage is kind of like espo, lindros, howe and orr combined!

Demko was a Vezina pick by some. Goalies are voodoo.
he was always credited as covering up their defensive issues and now his play has nose dived and he’s hurt, Boeser and Horvat want out and Miller always in trade rumors. Boudreau could be canned at any moment. Couver not having a good time right now.

I would be perfectly fine if the Kings canned McLellan. Plus I can't stand McLellan since his days behind the guppies bench........This team should be doing much better than basically .500

Ovi with 2 goals in the 1st period tonight..sitting at at 799 with about half the game to go.

Empty net goal for 800?

And a week later he's on pace for 62 and 120!

Whatever pep talk Todd McLellan gave the Kings during the second intermission should never be used again. Went into the 3rd tied 0-0 and lost 6-0. Ugh....It's time to move on from that guy.

Is Connor Bedard draft eligible this year? What a show this 17yo kid is putting on at the World Juniors.

Mactavish started at first line C for the first time this year. A and G in 1st period. Ducks play best game of year by far and beat Stars 2-0. He's only 5 points from leading rookies in scoring. If he stays at 1C, he should lead rookies in scoring.
Zegras was at LW on line 2, and he did well there.

MacTavish with 4 points tonight. Now 26 in 40 games, and 12 points in last 10. He's not even 20 until later this month.

Vrana on waivers, bold move Yzerman, lets see if it works out for him.

Cleared.
I wonder what is being said inside that is not being said publicly about him.
His cap hit was a bit prohibitive, but it's still a little surprising he cleared. Nothing has come out of why he was in the player assistance program, but other GMs are probably aware of what the cause was.
If it makes things any better, Anthony Mantha has also been a healthy scratch lately. Vrana was also recently scratched a couple times in the AHL, obviously something going on, hope it works out for him.

Mantha is more frustrating, just doesn't seem to want it. Vrana clearly has some personal problems that is causing him issues.
