Joe Buck said with 2 outs in the bottom of the 2nd, "Billingsley brought his good stuff with him today." He got 2 more outs and gave up 6 runs after that.

How scared is Fox and MLB that the world series could end up being Philadelphia and Tampa Bay. Neither of those teams are exactly "big draws" outside of their home markets.

EDIT: Chan Ho Park just gave up a 2 run triple to Victorino which I believe NOW closes the book on Billingsley. So make it 8 runs given up after that comment by Joe Buck.

There was a passed ball two batters later.
Doesnt guarantee it is thrown if he is on third. Just as absurd.

You guys being serious? He sat there and stared at the ball and then slowly jogged into second.

Stop making dumb excuses. I know he's been a godsend to your team but you sound ridiculous defending that play. He clearly dogged it and it cost you a run in a one-run game.
Yes he dogged it out of the box. But to assume that he could have made it to third is absurd. And how did he cost a run? he is still in scoring position, noone got the hit to get him in.
The point here is that he dogged it. Instead of focusing on defending him, and your points indeed have merit, realize that he clearly made a mistake -- because he was showboating. That's all. Now whether it cost them or not we'll never know, but that's a different topic altogether. I just hate the simple fact that he made what could very well have been a mistake that changed the outcome. If it was an error left of something, fine, it happens. I'm okay with that. But because he decides to stop and admire his work, he costs his team a better chance at scoring.

Well, I just hate that kind of ####. Always bothers me, always will -- does not matter what player it is (Giambi, for instance).
Am I upset he dogged it out of the box? Sure. But the bashing is ridiculous. Blaming him for the loss because of it is absurd. Its the 1st inning. Furcal's error. Getting only 7 hits. Lowe's two bad pitches.
You are putting things in your head here. NOBODY even remotely blamed Manny for the loss. Nobody even "assumed" it, which you are now calling absurd (but it didn't happen). You are defending things that weren't even mentioned. You go on to talk about all the other ways (Furcal) they could have lost. Fine, but that is simply not the topic at hand. You are turning a criticism of his showboating into "people hating" on him. Again, how did that evolve into "everybody" and "hating" on him?I think the defensive reactions regarding Manny here are knee-jerk. If you read everything again, it's just a critique of his play, which in the playoffs no less, is what all of this is about. Everything is under a microscope, it's great! I could talk about Furcal's miscue at length, it's fun. But, at least his wasn't on purpose...

Anyway, GO BLUE!
Re-read Capella and then you will see what I am reacting too. I am taking people saying "He cost you in that game" as manny bashing and blaming him for the loss simply because he wasnt on third when a passed ball happened. If defending Manny is knee jerk so is all the bashing thats being poored on him by those people looking for redemption at why he was traded out of Boston. Same people that were defending him last year in their 2nd WS title.Again, do i think he should have hustled out of the box? YES! Do i think he should have been on third? NO, not necessarily. Would it have been nice? sure. But the bottom line is that one play wasnt as bad as everyone wants to point out. Even by hustling he wouldnt necessarily been on third. Had he been on 1st and not 2nd then bash away.

McCarver is so unbearable.
would rather listed to Theisman do a MNF game. McCarver's great insight: "Martin the righthander is batting 2nd with Eithier batting 4th whereas last night Martin was 4th and Ethier was second."Great! way to state the obvious. Why dont you go fight with Deion somemore....

Looks like they are going back to LA down 2-0. Would have been nice to get a split (and there is still time too) but 3 at home aint so bad. Everything is going right for Philly today, myers with hits, kemp with errors, myers pitching well. key 2 out hits.

Man, is this how Cubs fans felt last week????

and i realize its only the 4th and there isa plenty of time for it to turn around, but nothing seems to be going right for LA today... not giving up just frustrated with the lack of hitting.

nice pitch by McDonald but how the eff is Myers 3 for 3????

McCarver is the worst. Blaming the moving strike zone on the pitchers? The strike zone doesnt move, its the same knees to armpits where it crosses the plate. Doesnt matter who the pitcher is and what kind of stuff he has or how established he is....

So stupid. Torre playing like he has the lead. There's no reason to worry about the bullpen. There's plenty there. And if he's planning for a tie, that's ######ed at this point. Should have pinch hit Pierre, a good bunter and fast runner, for the pitcher. Once the pitcher was at first, should have pinch run Pierre and tried to steal second.

Yep. And Meyers was hanging by a thread there, you could just feel it.

Can't believe they didn't hit for him. Christ.

Torre has been doing that all season and i havent understood his motivation at all. i like the idea of the bunt with pierre but not him as a PR in that situation. If you let the pitcher hit you might as well let him pitch again. With Nomar, Pierre on the bench why not hit for him. No reason to save Kershaw for game 4 when Lowe can do it on rest.
BTW, how smooth is Loney? Damn. Great play. And had another earlier (play at the plate). And that play he made last night, which they didn't say a word a bout, was also nice.
Loney would be a gold glove winner if it werent for some trouble with his throws earlier in the year. Throwing balls into left field etc. He is going to be one soon.I see him as the next Mark Grace, .300 hitter, 20 hrs, 100 rbis, multiple gold gloves.

casey blake almost ties it, or at least almost drove in 2. Great catch by Victorino.

Through all that has happened during this game, the thing that sticks out to me the most is that someone named their kid Dorcus.

Very disturbing.

This is it for the Dodgers. Need at least two this inning. I'd say even at least three. If Kent gets aboard, pinch run Pierre. I'd even do a double switch with Pierre playing center and Berroa in at second to get sorry Matt Kemp out of the lineup.

Eeshh, those were two of the ugliest at bats Ive ever seen.

Kemp and Nomar just nonstop fishing for the slow stuff away.

down 2-0 going back to LA. GB 7 game series! LA is still in it, but they have to win the next 2 and possible the next 3.

I am not sure why any pitcher would hesitate to throw breaking balls down and away to righties and down and in to lefties since LA just swings and misses them. Nomar looked worse then Kemp's three previous ABs combined! And Kent looked horrible and has ZERO range.

LA forgot how to finish an inning. 2 out hits, getting beat by the 7-9th hitters including the opposing PITCHER.

As good as they looked in CHI, they look equally as bad vs Phil.

Good to be home, lets go DOYERS!

Okay, I stand corrected about the Dodgers being the better and hotter team coming into this series. The Phillies have outplayed them thus far. And in retrospect, the way the Cubs laid down in the first round, any playoff-caliber team would have done the same thing to them, so it appears as if I am one of many who overrated the Dodgers as a result of that sweep. They are showing why they were a .500 team for most of the season.

and three in a row at home can change it right back around. Dont forget, LA swept Phi 4 games in LA. Followed directly by Phi Sweeping 4 in Phi.Its not over by any means.

What exactly was it about the worst at-bat of Nomar Garciaparra's career that made Joe Torre think he should start over the Dodgers' second-best hitter in the playoffs? Unless I missed something and there is a legitimate reason to bench Loney.

Oh well, Dewitt came through where turds Garciaparra and Kemp couldn't. Great start.
