Man sometimes I think Manny is worth the side circus that comes with having him around. One of the greatest hitters I've ever seen.

Torre blew the whole series by pulling Lowe in the sixth and Kuo after one batter in the eighth.
What team do you normally root for?
I've been to about 400 Dodgers games in my 30 years of life, including the 1981 World Series, Fernando's no-hitter and Ramon's no-hitter. My family had season tickets since the stadium opened, and I went to my first game at two weeks old.
So with all that baseball experience under your belt, I would think that you could deal with the ups and downs of playoff baseball and not act like a little #####.

so i take it you're an Angels fan?the fox track has really shown how terrible the umping has been with the strike zone. They are absolutely horrible.I have no issues with the way Torre managed the pen tonight. I have questioned a lot of his moves this yearbut tonight wasnt bad. I have never been a fan of the 1 out sacrifice though. Esp with a struggling hitter like Kemp behind him. Although with no lefties left in the pen, having Kuo come out for Howard was his best choice.Unfortunately that crybaby Victorino got a good swing. Not sure how it got out of there though. And Stairs. Damn, I mean a walk is better then a belt high fastball, which is all he can hit, but he can hit it darn far!

With all that baseball experience, I can call out managers for moronic moves and players for pathetic displays.

i dont know whats been worse, the strike zone or the announcing.....
With Joe Buck it really has to be the announcing doesn't it?
Buck has been great compared to the unintentional comedy gold coming from mccarver
i dont know whats been worse, the strike zone or the announcing.....
Lot of low pitches getting called as stikes.McCarver can be brutal though.
not too mention the "livan hernandez" strikes that are a foot off the plate inside or outside. Oh and the inconsistancy of the zone and its moving every inning. Flat out amazing how bad the zone has been. And the announcing. I dont think they even watch the games. "And a fly ball to right ends the inning" uh guys... thats left field.well so far, the Phills have come up with the big hits and the big plays when needed. OUtside game 3 LA hasnt.Game 4 Wednesday, Billingsly on the hill.

Well, I guess that 30 years worth of games didnt really teach you much...you have the #2 ranked bullpen in the NL (behind Philly) during the reg seasonyou have a pen that hasnt given up any runs in the 3 games so far and has been lights outyou have an off day on Tuesday so EVERYONE in the pen is availableyou have a starting pitcher on 3 days rest giving you 5 strong innings Why not go to the Pen?Maybe Kershaw isnt the best to bring in at that point but he is a lefty and its the matchups. By the way, with a real strike zone he strikes out batter 2 instead of giving up the walk. Its unfortunate, but all the pitchers had to deal with a moving strike zone so you adjust. Plus its to start an inning and if he gets thru it, being a starter he can give you an inning or two.Kershaw and Park hit a few bumps and Beimel comes in to get the 3rd out. Why not send him out for the next inning when he threw 1 pitch? He is your situational lefty and you can go to Kuo for the next inning. Beimel isnt used to coming back out for the next inning.Kuo blows thru the inning and because Howard starts the eigth and you have a 2 run lead why have him bunt and give Kemp a shot?Unfortunately, Kuo walks Howard so you go to your setuip man who has been lights out. Leave Brox for the 9th and the save.So like I said, no issues with what Torre did today.

Oh, I stand corrected. It's a great idea to take out the hot hand just because you have the guys to use. Torre didn't take out Kuo because Howard singled. He took out Kuo to bring in a righty to face the right-handed Burrell. But he had no problem later leaving in Broxton to face the left-handed Stairs. Lowe was rolling. There was no reason to take him out in the sixth just because he was on three days rest. He could have gone one more and went out for a pinch-hitter. Kuo made the Phillies look silly the previous inning and can get a righty, but Torre makes the move to get a righty-righty matchup. Torre kept making moves until he found the pitchers who didn't have it today. He overmanaged the Dodgers right out of making the World Series.

Crybaby Victorinio?! Asking for a fastball to the gut instead of the head is being a crybaby? I bet you're not man enough to take a 95 mph heater to the ribs.

This is frustrating, not sure what Charlie's doing in this game. For example, 2 on, no outs and you have Victorino bunt then pull Dobbs for Feliz?Dodgers breaking in open as I type. :hot:
Sac Fly ties the game, Feliz didn't get it done. Feliz for Dobbs because Dobbs has 1 hit in 9 at bats against left handed pitching.

Exactly, Couldn't afford to charge the mound in the playoffs, instead he did exactly the right move to make the Dodgers look bad.

C'mon Dodgers. I cannot, repeat, cannot, watch a Phillies - Red Sox World Series. It would be physically painful.
It's about to be a Phils - Rays series, are you ok with that??!?!? I am!!! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I hope for global warming to continue for 2 more weeks. If they win Wed, it will be a 7 day layoff. Maybe Doctor Detroit can help fill us in on what a long layoff does to a team.

I believe Howard hit it hard up the middle.

And what a surprise, again Manny and Loney are the only two Dodgers who can hit. This thread has died. I guess it was the Cubs fans who carried the other one.
I'll speak for myself here:Do you want us to come join you in the #####ing and moaning? It seems like your doing enough of it for the rest of us. I'll just continue to enjoy watching my team play in the NLCS.
I boycotted to change our luck. Oh well...

God that game sucked. It was the baseball fan equivalent of being kicked in the nuts. If only Broxton doesn't groove that fastball (that was a freaking bomb by Stairs - props to him for absolutely crushing that pitch) and if the Dodger line drives find gaps instead of Philly gloves.

Damn.

Lets see, 6th inning, game 1 of a well rested Lowe. 3 runs Phi wins. Kuo gives up a single to Howard who hadnt hit very well and Torre has said he is being careful with 4 elbow surgeries Kuo who was into his 2nd inning. Everyone is avail, go for the matchup.Torre is notorious for overusing his bullpen. Had he not made the moves and someone else gives up the runs you would be claiming the same thing.

It was over his head. Both Martin AND Manny had heaters at their heads that were much closer. He claims after the game he doesnt know why the benches cleared while hes the one yelling at Kuroda at first base still pointing to his head. If they wanted to hit him they would have. It was a statement that the Phills have been headhunting so shut the hell up.And to be clear, i dont condone hitting someone in the head. But this was well over head. Martins was closer and Mannys was too.

ok my mistake there. Still stand by the rest.

Buster Olney just reported on ESPN that Kuo came out due to stiffness in his shoulder, which pretty much makes our discussion moot. If his shoulder is fine he stays in, but it forced Torre's hand and possible created bad matchups later.

D Lowe also had only thrown 74 pitches so could he have come back for the 6th? maybe.

My point is that the LA Bullpen had not allowed any runs in 3 games and Lowe was on 3 days rest. Why not go to the pen?

Huge, underrated hit against an incredibly tough LHP. Big time stuff.

I think that Kuo stuff is BS - as soon as the LH hitters were done, he was done. Torre's managed that way the whole series. Kuo had already gone over an inning and they had to be careful with him anyway given his injury.

Oh, I must have missed where he grabbed his shoulder with stiffness after he faced Howard. If he had shoulder stiffness, he wouldn't have come out for the inning. And Torre could have pinch hit for him the previous inning. Instead, Torre let him bat. The Dodgers didn't get a run. And Torre blew it by pulling Kuo just so he could get a righty-righty matchup, when Kuo is holding right handers to a .204 average. And Victorino was being stupid. The Dodgers weren't trying to hit him. They were trying to send a message by throwing it over his head. Would he rather be hit in the ribs or buzzed?

Hit. It's not near your head and you would get on base.

Hit. It's not near your head and you would get on base.
Which is why Kuroda buzzed him - send a message and avoid a baserunner.
