Nope. The Commish said:Michigan fan??Loke said:I don't think I've ever been less excited about an OSU/UM game in my life. I was looking for number 1 versus number 10 or so and both teams go out and lose games they were expected to win. I guess the letdown is just way to much. Hell, I don't even know what time the game is being played and made all sorts of Saturday plans. That would have never happened in the past.

Seriously. Of all the threads on this board, let's really not let it get HUCK'ed up.
It's clear management isn't going to do anything about him, so we have to take it upon ourselves in these kinds of threads to just ignore him. There is plenty of opportunity to bash him in his threads or even political threads (new development)...lets not do it here.Bo still has more personality than Lloyd, death notwithstanding.CBus Alex said:If Michigan can win one for Lloyd but couldn't win one last year for Bo, then something is seriously wrong with the world.LAUNCH said:Let's let Lloyd go out on top!
I have a clear Michigan bias, but how about Kansas running the table, Michigan beating TOSU ...and Michigan and Oregon getting a rematch in the Rose Bowl? Gulp. Yeah, let's try a do-over on that match-up.Bobcat10 said:Here's to Kansas running the table and Oregon getting bounced by tOSU in the Rose. Here's to a Michigan win and a boost in Oregon's SOS.![]()

A lot of people on both sides get too wrapped up in the "hate" for the other side. Hate is stupid - I just see it as a great rivalry. And arguably the greatest in CFB.The Mich game is *always* on the radar for Buckeye fans... and the anticipation builds as the season goes on.BTTH...I wasn't going to quote your post, but I will answer your question. From a personal perspective, it doesn't really mean much to me this year. Michigan can win a down Big-10 with the victory and I didn't really think it was possible after the first two games of the season, but there isn't much more to it than that. I don't have any anamosity towards OSU or their fans. I don't get all the "hate" between them so I don't participate in that stuff any year, much less a year where the game really isn't significant. Yes, I have had probably 12 prank calls this week from OSU fans and that's fun for a bit, but it wears old quickly for me.
Buckeyes having a great season?... know that Michigan will do their best to ruin it. Both teams down?... don't get beat by Michigan then!I'll be at the game Saturday. It's the last home game of my Michigan career, and I've got a feeling that Michigan wins it this year. I just have to make sure I don't get kicked out of the stadium this time. Two years ago at the Ohio State game, I was in the first row behind the endzone and during a timeout with 5 minutes remaining in the game a cop on the field happened to notice a bottle of Jim Beam sticking out of my front pocket. He made me jump down on to the field and escorted me through the endzone and across the playing field before 110,000 screaming fans. Being on the field in that atmosphere was pretty incredible, even if it was with a police escort. It would have definitely been worth the cost of the citation. He actually let me off without arresting me or writing a ticket, but they kicked me out of the stadium. I managed to sneak back in just in time to see Anthony Gonzalez catch a pass deep in Michigan territory and then watch Antonio Pittman win the game for OSU.Who all is going to the game?![]()

Hell, I'm not a fan of either team but I'm looking forward to it. With the way Michigan started the season, and OSU losing last week, and this being Carr's last game, it's going to be big.Anyone who says they are a Michigan or OSU fan but isn't excited about this game is full of poo.
I knew the tradition of TOSU jocks parading around the field with the big, home-made 'Ohio State' bedsheet banner before the game and at half-time, when it would get torn up by Michigan fans pouncing on it when they got to the Michigan student side of the stadium. While in grad school in Ann Arbor, and while attending the home game one year, I was the first drunken Michigan fan to leap the retaining wall and dive into the banner as it reached the endzone during halftime.I'll be at the game Saturday. I got to watch this a few weeks ago in AA and then watched it again last night. It was very informative to me since I have really not ever understood the hatred nor participated in it. It helped me to understand how it came to be and what keeps it fueled. A couple things I thought were odd:1. The focus on the "passionate" buckeye fans.2. Glossing over the 1997 NC for UM.I wasn't aware that back in the day UM looked down their nose at OSU. That I found interesting and I would have liked to hear more about why...especially if they still do today (I don't and never have). Both states seem to have the same working class type of people now and it's interesting that this attitude may still exist. While I agree that UM is by far a better learning institution, the rest of it seems to be pretty much the same. Something else I learned was that this rivalry was alive and well long before Hayes stepped foot on the OSU campus. When discussing the history of the rivalry with OSU fans, I have always asked why they dismiss the early years when Michigan was so dominate. They always tell me that the rivalry didn't get going until Hayes came onto the scene. Almost a "we weren't really trying back then" kind of attitude. Clearly that wasn't the case.In general, I thought it was a very good piece and it gave me chills to watch the Bo parts knowing that he passed away just a few days after those interviews.Anyone just see that program on HBO? "Michigan vs. Ohio St. - The Rivalry"Mainly featuring the Woody/Bo years, it was one of the best pieces I've ever seen on television.I'm a fan of neither team, but the story had mea few times.
The passion of each fanbase is remarkable.

O - HAgreed with all of your thoughts on the show. I thought it was terrific, as are most freaking HBO documentaries. I've never been caught up in this that much for someone born and raised in Ohio. I find most OSU fans to be about as tolerable as UK basketball fans in that they can always be counted on to have a complete lack of objectivity about their teams. It's still fun though. Somehow I've gotten pegged in the office as a Michigan fan so last year I came in on the Monday after the game to one of those giant inflateble Brutus' in my office. All in good fun. it will add a permanent blemish on what is otherwise a flawless resume on and off the field. The trio is also 0-3 in bowl games.A special delivery for the old football coachNovember 16, 2007BY MITCH ALBOMFREE PRESS COLUMNISTDear Bo:Well. It's been awhile. Since your death, one year ago Saturday, there have been so many times I've wanted to talk to you. But I can't. So I'm writing. When you were alive, I knew if I wrote something in the paper that got your attention, you would find me.Advertisement So here I am. A letter to a departed coach. I already can hear your phone call, dispensing with "hello," barking into the receiver as soon as I pick it up: "Hey! What kind of WASTE of SPACE was THAT?"To be honest, I'd love to get that call. But I can't. So I'll keep typing. It's Michigan-Ohio State weekend, Bo, and I'll say it straight up: I don't think this game will ever be the same. It is now the event that followed your death. It's a showdown played through a ghost. You could have died any other Friday and it would have been less poetic, less ironic, less indelible -- and I know you hate it when I use words like that, but it's true. The day before the Big Game. One year ago. It's still so hard to believe. The world according to BoYou're around, of course. In image. In photos. On film. To be honest, Bo, there seems to more of you now than ever: an HBO special that features you and Woody Hayes, books about you, TV tributes, even a commemorative coin that they're going to flip before the game. If you ever worried about being forgotten, you can put that to rest. And if you thought your passing might cast a kinder, gentler hue on this football rivalry, forget that, too. It's just as nasty. Just as huge. Your friend and protégé, Lloyd Carr, has been having a pretty tough season. Lost the opening two games of the season, the first to Division 1-AA Appalachian State. Your name came up when that happened, in sentences like, "It's a good thing Bo didn't live to see this."But Lloyd rallied his team, as you knew he would, and the Wolverines won eight in a row despite a rash of crucial injuries. They come into Ohio State weekend with a chance at the Big Ten title. You always said that was all that mattered, right? A Big Ten title? A Rose Bowl? So there is salvation in a Michigan victory.Sports salvation, not, you know, the big kind. I should watch my language in a letter like this.Etched in our memoriesHey, Bo. There are still people talking about your funeral. I can't remember as many laughs and tears in the same place. Or as many large necks. Many of your old players are limping now, carrying big bellies, talking about hip replacements, but, man, do they love you. And do they remember every story, every mishap, every temper tantrum. I swear, there are more people on earth doing Bo Schembechler impersonations now than ever. Maybe because you can't hear us.Uh ... you can't hear us, can you?I know you'll be watching Saturday's game. If we can invent high-def TV down here I can't imagine what you've got up there. Just remember. I know you coached the maize and blue for two decades, but don't blow a fuse. Ohio State is really good again. Michigan is hobbled by injury. And as we all know, winning or losing a football game is not the end of a world. No, the end of a world is much more sudden, more subtle, more depressing. It happens when someone you are used to seeing and hearing is no longer in sight, no longer heard. It happens when you lose someone that made life more colorful and more vital.Your wife, Cathy, tells Channel 7 in a special tonight that she keeps the last pair of shoes you kicked off under the table where you left them. I understand that. We all tried to freeze you in some way.I guess my way is to write this and imagine you reading it, those glasses down your nose, you shaking your head and calling me some sort of name. But smiling. It was a Friday that you died. But Saturdays are when you lived. In football, to miss is a bad thing, miss a tackle, miss a field goal. But we miss you anyhow. And this Saturday we'll miss you more.Contact MITCH ALBOM at 313-223-4581 or malbom@freepress.com. Catch "The Mitch Albom Show" 5-7 p.m. weekdays on WJR-AM (760).
