Sorry to anyone who tried to get together with me yesterday. My cell battery took a dump.I will be down a little later today, but definitely hit me up and we'll try to make it happen again. :kicksrock:
Ahhh, so that's what happened. I sent you a text Friday.Saturday we hung around and boozed by Citizens to take in all the World Series pregame.I actually didn't even drink alot Saturday night, never even left my seat. Friday night I was plastered though. Very pleased with the ease of smoking, ANYTHING, in the Spectrum both nights. People were smoking J's Friday night where the stairs lead up to 324 by the overhang railing. Usually that's where ushers hang. :lmao:

Rummaging through my vault, here is what I've never heard live (from the albums, not including Backspacer) before that was not played the last two nights, therefore making these a real possibility!

:banned: Deep - would complete Ten, I expect this one.

WMA - would complete Vs, but doubtful imo. I have heard it tagged numerous times.

:banned: Bugs

:banned: Off He Goes - I think it's a lock.

Around The Bend

Suprised I didn't get a few more, but when you add in first time gems like:Hold On, Out of My Mind, Whip It, Crown of Thorns, Sweet Lew...

it's quite amazing!

I also had to come home and tell my son of all the songs on Backspacer, the ONLY one they didn't play Fri/Sat is his favorite, Supersonic. He does love Sweet Lew though.

TF and I almost got one of the boxing gloves. Everyone was looking around for it and I spotted in on his chair. The woman next to him grabbed it at the same time as I did, so I let her have it. Struck us both as the shrine for it will be built shortly. Also, TF is now immortalized on the PJ message board avatar!

In reading some of the posts on the message pit, people need to chill about this stuff. Nice to get, but not worth getting in a fight over or worse, committing a crime. Supposedly, the girl who got Eddie's wine bottle had it forcibly taken from her by some dude outside the venue. What a doosh!

Pearl Jam perpetuates this mindset with all the ultra-rare merchandise shtick that's been going on the past few years.

If they don't know it's official, we don't want them posting anyway.

So finally got some time for a recap.....

The Saturday before the shows, the wife and I are sitting in Tiger Stadium watching the LSU game and she mentions something about her friends wanting to take a girls' trip to NYC in February. I reply sarcastically with "That's cool as long as I can go see Pearl Jam in Philly next week." Now I was fully expecting a :goodposting: b/c I just got finished taking a trip to Vegas with the guys in Sept and going to Baltimore to see Eddie earlier this Spring. She could've easily said "Screw you, I'm going no matter what" and I wouldn't have had a leg to stand on.

To my surprise, she replies with "You can go if you want to...I'm really not in the mood for Halloween anyway". I immediately go down to the concourse and text BBWC to let him know to hold that ticket for Saturday and then text my friend who usually has a bunch of Southwest tickets to sell.........turns out the SWA tix didn't work out b/c of the dates, but BBWC ended up coming through with the ticket, so I was happy.

Arrive in Philly on Friday, my buddy picked me up from the airport, then brought me to the beer store to pick up beer (apparantly it's impossible to by beer in Center City save for this one block where there are like 3 beer stores......I digress......GB drops me off at the hotel where I meet up with Zilla/TU.....we grab some food then head out to the Spectrum.

As I mentioned earlier, they had a Pearl Jam cover band playing right in front of the will call place :goodposting: But we just set up camp and started drinking some beers. Eventually BBWC and his friend came and met us, and my GB and his girlfriend joined as well. We drink some beers and then head into the arena.....

Been wearing out Vitalogy since Philly. Think it may have passed Ten as my favorite in PJ's catalog. Tremendous. Need to reorder in light of Backspacer.

So, what's this Celph Titled doosh's schtick?Need that ignore threads feature pronto!
:excited:
:lmao: Celph Titled puts a remark in every thread he starts stating that some country hates Pearl Jam.
Celph Titled = Truckpurely board schtick (well maybe he really hates PJ :shrug)
yes, I just wasn't gonna out him. (like it matters though)
I figured it was fair game considering anyone who wants to know can just look it up in that :e: thread

:loco:
lol, forgot about this.So I get into the arena and I realize that my floor seat is all the way in the back and I'm right in the middle.....so I start walking around (this is b/w the opening act and PJ) to see where security might be lax to figure out how I can sneak up somewhere. As I'm walking around, I see TU and him and Zilla have great seats in the front row of the first level (which is basically a floor seat). The first 2 seats in the isle are empty and they have seats 3 & 4, so I figure, I'd just watch the show from the isle until someone tells me to move. Fortunately for me, this couple shows up and the girl asks me (not knowing this wasn't my seat) "do you mind if I watch the show from the isle b/c I'm short, you can take my seat". Score. As you saw from the setlist, the first set was freaking incredible:
Set List: Gonna See My Friend, The Fixer, In My Tree, Given To Fly, Tremor Christ, Untitled/ MFC, Hold On, Unthought Known, In Hiding, Deep, Habit, Cropduster, Off He Goes, Force Of Nature, Present Tense, Got Some, Do The Evolution
Hardly ever got a chance to just relax b/c the first set was rocking the entire time :lmao:Got to hear IMT, Present Tense and Unthought Known - all lived up to expectations.....I know I've been a ####### for Unthought Known in this thread, but that song is incredible. I'm this close from claiming it PJ's best song ever, seriously.
1st encore: Just Breathe w/string quartet, Parting Ways w/string quartet, Jeremy w/string quartet, Breath, Light Years, Rearviewmirror1st encore was pretty standard to start....even though the strings played on Jeremy, I don't think anyone could tell. Breath was a nice surprise.2nd encore: Whipping, Crazy Mary (Williams), Footsteps, Once, Alive, Sonic Reducer (Dead Boys), Baba O'Riley (Townshend)
Got to hear Mamasan for the 3rd time I believe..Crazy Mary as stellar as always.....Probably the best Sonic Reducer I've ever heard (and I think they literally play it at every show I go to)All in all a great show

Messing around on youtube

They did this at San Diego and it was awesome. Tons of people came running in from the concession area cause it happened right after Ben's first song in his set. Afterwards Ben said something like "Bet you'll never be late again."

Started the Aussie leg of their tour last night in Perth:

November 14, 2009 Perth, Australia, Member Equity StadiumOpening : Liam Finn, Ben Harper and Relentless7Set List: Breakferfall, Why Go, Corduroy, Gonna See My Friend, Small Town, Amongst The Waves, Even Flow, Pilate, Unthought Known, Daughter/W.M.A., Big Wave, Force of Nature, I Am Mine, Grievance, Garden, The Fixer, Save You1st encore: Just Breathe, Red Mosquito w/Ben Harper, Love, Reign O'er Me-(Townshend), Whipping, Got Some, Do The Evolution2nd encore: Throw Your Arms Around Me w/ Liam Finn-(Archer, Falconer, Howard, Miles, Seymour, Smith, Waters), Given to Fly, Betterman / Save It For Later-(Charley, Cox, Morton, Steele, Wakeling), Alive, Yellow Ledbetter
Also did Under Pressure with Ben Harper againWhat's amazing about this new album is how great it sounds liveReading this setlist I see they played 7 new songs, but they already feel integrated into the PJ repertoireNice mix from the albums also:bag:

Have some time right now, so I'll give a fanview from Tuesday, Philly 1:

So the four days I took off from work for this trip were the most consecutive weekdays I have off from work since I started working here over 5 years ago, so I was really excited to rock out to PJ and get my mind off of work. In fact I didn;t check my work email once the entire time. Felt ####### liberating. Figured, they have my cell #, if it;s an emergency, they'll call.

I took the 2 hour bus ride down from NYC ($7! Thanks Boltbus!), and went to our hotel. I had about an hour t kill before our room became available, so I grabbed a beer and some grub at the same exact Ruby Tuesday JZilla and Tiger Fan and I ate at last year as we waited for our hotel room to be ready before Camden I and II. Figured that was a good omen.

JZilla was driving up from Maryland, but was having a new engine put in that AM, so I checked in and took a nap. Gotta save the energy for the 5 days ahead, ya know. When I woke, Zilla was still in Maryland, as his mechanic apparently has no idea how to time a repair. It got so bad, as a matter of fact, that he was seriously considering just grabbing the train up to Philly. He was able to hit the road about 4 or so, so I told him to meet me at the arena complex and I would just take the train down.

One great thing about Philly is that the football stadium (Lincoln Financial Field), baseball stadium (Citizens Bank Park)and hockey/basketball/concert venue (Wachovia Center) are all in the same complex. With ####loads of parking. VERY accessible vis public transportation and highways.

So I exit from the train and immediately see the Spectrum, with a huge Pearl Jam sign hanging outside. The building was built in 1967, and it has that utilitarian arena look of the era (like the Nassau Coliseum, for instance); just a round building with few bells or whistles. I head to pick up my 10C tix and we ended up about 35 rows back on the floor, Stone's side.

I go to McFadden's, the bar attached to Citizens Bank Park, to have some beer and wait for Zilla. They are also having a Wishlist fundraiser/preparty there, so I bought some raffle tickets (didn't win anything) and had some beer. About 7 or so JZilla calls me and tells me he has arrived. At this point my phone drops the call. AND WILL NOT CONNECT AGAIN. Tried 30+ times, to no avail. My phone just won't work. So I have no idea where JZilla is. So I am wandering the massive parking lots, asking tailgaters if I can borrow their phones for a second. Boy, did I feel shady. A few nice PJ souls let me call, and I managed to get the parking section from Zilla, and meet him there. With his $500 90s Pontiac Sunfire with the new 2K engine. He had a bunch of beer in the trunk, so we drank many, quickly (a familiar refrain for this trip) before heading in.

Will pick up the rest a bit later

:wall:

Cheers

10/31 - Not being critical because it was amazing. But they did have some major botches. That's not my point....Ed seemed to be getting very iritated. I really thought the vibe was there early and that they were really going to go post-1am/50 song. Not "play every song in the catalog" post-1am, that was never going to happen after the first few nights. He's such a perfectionist in a way that I think he lost the mood. Haven't heard the show, but I'm excited to hear his remarks again.

Couple of pointsI don't think they can play a 4+ hour show at that intensity. They left it all out there in there as it was. Quality, not quantity IMO. Would rather have a blistering band and Ed than a "pace ourselves" bandRegarding Ed getting pissed, I disagree that he's a perfectionist. They #### up more live than any band I have seen. Mainly b/c they don't play the same songs every night. When you have a live repertoire of 100 songs, you're going to make mistakes. This occurred more often on 10/31 due to the sheer number of rarities they attempted. There were a couple of moments where he was thrown off/angry, but I don't think they defined or even represented his mood that night. Off the top of my head: when he hit his mouth on the mic at the beginning of Porch and was going to stop, before the crowd sang the verse and carried the band through; when they messed up the beginning of Bugs and he was going to scrap it (again the crowd's cheering willed him on); and during Free World, when a big dude in the front road wrestled his wine bottle away from the girl he threw it to (big thread at the PJ boards about this BTW). Personally, I think those moments help make a PJ show as special as it is. Any band can just stand there and play the same 20 songs every night. I will take some anger, emotion and #### ups every day, even if it results in the occasional shorter show (which I don't think it did in this case).

I agree with most of what you say. And I think the "perfectionist" comment was bad....but I'm having problems getting my point across. Do you think the night went (basically) as planned then? I just think they were gonna go ultimate balls to the wall. Maybe they did :thumbup:Again, amazing show...I'm not knocking anything at all.

I think the night was close to as planned. Maybe an audible or two here or there, but generally close to their plan.

Hell, after RITFW Ed made the "we're done" sign to Mike and Jeff. Then he realized the crowd was still going nuts and they played Yellow Ledbetter.

To a certain degree I feel like they couldn't meet the expectations no matter what.

Was doing some PJ reflecting today and decided to redo my top song from every album:

Ten - Release

Vs. - Daughter

Vitalogy - Better Man

No Code - Present Tense

Yield - Given To Fly

Binaural - Sleight of Hand

Riot Act - Love Boat Captain

Self Title - Inside Job

Backspacer - Unthought Known

All the stations here are showing it at weird times like 4 am. I don't do Tivo. But, it should pop up at dime, in hi-def. Recent episodes have been. Problem with that is I don't really know how to downcovert it to share with you guys.Effin Philly boots makin me cry, I wanted them for my trip next week
