Downloading a DVD from dimeadozen now. The guy brags about how quickly he got the torrent up, but his connection sucks balls so I'll be lucky if I have this one today.

Hoping someone will release an XVID at another site, if that happens I can share it here.

My understanding is you can watch it at PBS website if you're really hard up.

XVID avi. ~560 MB. Should be decent quality.

Pearl Jam to play the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival:

link

Look like google captured the headline, but the story got taken down b/c the initial announcement isn't until tomorrow.

Of course, I'm standing in a wedding one of the 2 jazz fest weekends......I'm praying it's not the one PJ plays.

I just know somehow I'm gonna get screwed in all this. To top it off, I work for Shell (presenting sponsor), so I know I can get all access passes.

already been getting texts/calls just from a few people posting it on FB. lots of excitement so far.....got lots of people from NOLA who live out of town wanting to come in for it.

This is late April, right?
either last weekend in april or first one in may
:popcorn:So ####### inSonny, you gotta come in for this GBPJ in NOLA?Epic
I'd skip Memphis in May Musicfest for this. As soon as the weekend is finalized lemme know. Booking rooms. Will be coming down (maybe with the GF maybe without). Have a few hookups with Hotel industry folks. May be able to get a block of rooms on the cheap if folks are interested.

It's official - they'll be playing the 2nd weekend (Thurs - Sun). Last year, Widespread played a 2.5 hour show on the Thursday....and that would be awesome if they played that day - b/c it's the least crowded....but I'd bet they'll be playing Saturday

:unsure:Looking into rooms now. Is there any interest in me checking into group rate? I've got some folks that work in corporate at hilton and another major chain. They've hooked me up in the past and could likely score 3-4 rooms at a employee rate. If there's no interest then no worries, just wanted to throw it out there.

Obviously, I'm here to answer any questions. I know [icon] is pretty familiar with NOLA, but for the others, I recommend staying in one of the major hotel chains in the french quarter/CBD area. There will be plenty of public transport to get you to and from the fest. Any other questions, fire away.

 I've run into some semi sketchy places when you stay at off-brand or out of the way places. I'll check into rates this week and see what I can pull together. Worst case everyone's back where they started. Best case: we lock down some solid 3 to 4 star rooms for a very good price (buddy got a group of us 75% off on 5 rooms for a cross country trip this summer).

quick search, and decent hotel rooms are $200 minimum..
Hotwire looking at a 3-star in Quarter for $99/night but it's a "boutique" hotel. I've stayed in one of those before and was very underwhelmed. (though i'm sure it's a case-by-case thing).

this place is absolutely no frills....but the location isn't that bad....can still walk to the french quarter....and it's $80/night

Might be a good place to book as backup (as long as you can cancel)

yeah, technically you can still be in the quarter and be in a sketchy area. B/c there will be so many tourists there, it probably won't be bad....but you just never know

Great suggestion TF. Agreed that location is solid (then again you know WAY more about this city than I do :hifive: )Booked Thur>Sun with a Queen Non-Smoking.

Your Travelocity Trip ID is: 3934 9805 XXXX

We have charged your credit card $268.14.

Confirmed they ARE 100% cancelable up to 24hrs before the reservation.

Putting calls in with my 2 "hookups" for rooms today and will let you guys know what I can dig up. I'll be shooting for clean and cheap.

Hotel rooms or hookers?

Still looking for work, but would love to come down for this. Will track the thread and update as warranted. If reservations for the hotel are definitely cancellable (sp?), may jump on that.

How do tix usually work for this? Any idea if 10C tix will be available?

I doubt there will be 10C tixJust general festival tixapparently you can get either a weekend pass for like $120 or a daily pass for $40 that you can use for any of the daysFrom what I have read, they never"sell out", and you can actually buy tix day off at the site

Ditto. Never met any of you but would like to come down for this. I'll track the thread for hotel ideas. And I'd love to see Tipsy.

Alright one guy said they only have one corporate hotels except in Riverside and he could only get 2 rooms max. My other buddy chimed in with:

The doubletree looks to be the closest by a longshot (about 3 blocks up canal.. not a bad spot but not much closer if at all than the hotel TF linked to. I imagine it's going to be considerably cleaner/nicer but you're looking at double the price. Incidentally their "internet best rate" is $230/night at that doubletree so my buddy's deal is at least knocking 50/night off the price.

I'd love to come down for this but have no interested people I know IRL. Would it be weird to come solo and meet up with you guys?
