Hoping for a ticket drop day of show
Just booked our trip to MSG for Fan Club tix (71,xxx) for night 1, hoping for some night 2 love!  Glad they played VS in order already, that would be my one album i wouldnt want back to front.

I will be there with my 14 yo daughter.  her second show my 50-ish something show.  Who else is going?

What a great damn show last night. I don't know how they still do it after all these years, so much energy and intensity, and always something you didn't expect.

I knew they were doing Vs. when they started playing Dissident and told everyone around us. People were going nuts.

Then two songs I said I wanted to hear, Present Tense and Comfortably Numb back to back. McCready blew up the place with those solos on CN. Can't begin to describe how great that was.

Still have Raleigh and Colombia to go.

Yep, Dissident clinched it for me too. LOL at Eddie doing a fake out before closing out the run with Indifference. Great show.  Loved being on Mike's side this time.

I might be able to land two in section 214 row 4.  You want the other if I pounce on them?  I think he wants more than face value and I'm trying to confirm that now.  I'm only doing it for face.
BBWC....I still haven't heard back from this dude.....but in the meantime I scored a MSG2 ten club reserved ticket!  I know you said you are only going to MSG1.  Now that's all I'm in the market for.  Back to the hunt.

For anyone trying, I've been stalking the PJ board in the 3-4 threads people post ISO's and for sale's.  Hit them with a PM.  Finally one came through.  Not a great 10c number, probably will be deep on the floor, but I'm in the door for MSG2.

Raleigh canceled. So ####### pissed...great timing, dip####s. Scrambling now to change plans, hotel cancel fees apply, last minute change with dog sitter, etc.

They've known about the stupid NC law for weeks and they do this 2 days before? AND the governor has already repealed some of it and they're working on repealing the rest? Pointless move that only punishes their fans.

Agree.  that sucks.  Really feel for the fans.  Had a buddy that was going

Meh, I'd be more pissed if I hadn't been to Greenville and didn't also have Columbia coming up. I was thinking it would be tough to top the Greenville show anyway. Now they've got an extra night of rest, and most of the Raleigh people will be in Columbia too, so hopefully we get another no-holds-barred brain-smasher with rarities and Ed climbing on stuff etc. Plus, Raleigh fans are now going to Columbia a day early and meetups are in the works for Wednesday night. We were able to snag an extra night at the Courtyard so we'll be :banned:  with old friends.

I think they are approaching this the wrong way and waited too long to cancel, but no use complaining about it.

Ed starts with the Yield teaser in Hampton.

1- Why Go2- Mind your Manners3- Corduroy4- Brain of J.5- Faithfull6- I Am Mine

They do Ten in Columbia imo. It's gonna be epic. I'm loading up on posters for that ####, they're gonna be worth thousands.

regarding the cancelled show, yea there is a way to make a bigger statement.  Since they cancelled the show they seem to be ok on losing out on a paycheck, along with all the workers for said show.  They should paly the show and donate their pay to organizations to fight such causes.  They literally have the stage to harp on this all night long.  Am i surprised they cancelled, nope not one bit, but to do so this close to the show is not cool.  Plus that was Skully's "home venue" and they should play just to honor him.

Congrats...still working on MSG 1, so let me know if you have any success there.

While I feel bad for the fans of PJ that don't support the law, I still stand by them cancelling the show.  Yes, they probably could have done it sooner, I don't understand that.  Maybe there were legal issues they were working through before they could make it official.  Maybe they were giving them as much time as possible to repeal the whole thing, I don't know.

But, as I have read in multiple places, they are not punishing the fans.  They are encouraging them to take action, to get involved, to make chance so your state isn't look at by much of the rest of the country as a state of ignorant bigots that apparently support these kinds of laws.  I know that sweeping generalization doesn't apply to everyone in the state, but when there are enough politicians in office to get something like this done, it doesn't look good on the state as a whole.

I don't mean to turn this into a political thread, so hijack over.

I had tickets and this was my first chance to see them in years, so crushed, but this is about how I feel as well.

Ironically, only time I've seen PJ was in Charlotte. Love this decision and am now going to throw VS and Vitalogy at work today.

No Code is the last album I purchased.  What is the best album since then that I need to buy?

Everyone will have different answers to that but I'd rank them Yield, Lightning Bolt, Avocado, Backspacer, Binaural, Riot Act.

As for the Facebook "Pearl Jam Ten club Members" group? Much wetting the bed going on over there. And I mean major bed wetting. I, too would have been disappointed, but anyone with a ticket to any show in NC has to see this coming.

:sidebar: I know that the comments on FB crossed over into YouTube comments territory some time ago, but it's truly amazing, given the fact that the cloak of anonymity isn't in play on FB. People must love to embarrass themselves... :wall:

Some 10C members are a whole different breed so not surprised.

While I obviously celebrate their entire catalog, I ranked the remaining albums in preference, along with my fav top 3 songs of each (in case you wanted to put together a playlist on spotify or amazon to get a feel)

Yield - Faithfull, Given to Fly, In Hiding

Avocado (Pearl Jam) - Come Back, Inside Job, Gone

Lightning Bolt - Sirens, Pendulum, Lightning Bolt

Backspacer - Unthought Known, Just Breath, Amongst the Waves

Binaural - Light Years, Sleigh of Hand, Grievance

Riot Act - Love Boat Captain, I Am Mine, Green Disease

I saw it coming, but logically, once you're a week or so before the show date, you assume you're in the clear. The band rarely cancels shows, and they're known for being organized and taking care of their fans. Canceling at the last minute is not like them at all.

I agree the complaining is over the top (and PJ fans complain about the most trivial #### anyway), but you can't say they don't have a legit beef.

I'm thinking that the 48 hour notice is no coincidence. Springsteen and Starr did the same thing I believe.

Yield's first.  After that seems to change constantly.  I wasn't a fan of Lightning Bolt though.

Then it's an even ####tier move. If they knew last week or even earlier, it would've been a lot easier for people to adjust plans. Fans fly in from everywhere for their shows and the band knows this.

Yeah, honestly I'm conflicted.  As a fan, it really sucks bad.  While I didn't have plans to go to NC, I do have plans to go to Wrigley...and to make that happen, I had to do a bunch of planning (wife, kids, work, etc).  I would feel like they personally kicked me in the nuts if they cancelled a show I was going to.  The fans, arena workers, etc are the ones most directly impacted by this.

I really liked Jimmy Buffet's stance on it...he said that he would play his scheduled show, but wouldn't schedule any more shows after that.  Simple and to the point.

Now all that being said, especially in this day and age I do think there's great power in what PJ and the others did.  Every time someone cancels, it's constantly trending on social media and gets people talking.  Collectively, they all had to remove millions of dollars from the NC economy; so there's some hurt there.  Additionally, the bad publicity it brings springs action, and as I understand it, NC is starting to make some changes to the law.

That's my understanding as well.  The bottom line to me is that if most people took the Jimmy Buffet approach, change wouldn't be happening as quickly.  That why I feel these actions are justified.

My order and top 3 (tough to do):

Yield - Given to Fly, Do The Evolution, In Hiding (real hard to leave off Faithful)

Binaural - Grievance, Rival, Sleight of Hand

Avocado (Pearl Jam) - Inside Job, Marker In The Sand, Severed Hand

Lightning Bolt - Pendulum, Infallible, Lightning Bolt

Backspacer - Unthought Known, Just Breathe, Got Some

Riot Act - Can't Keep, Save You, Love Boat Captain

These type of protests just hurt the fans of the band the most.   They are not removing money from the parts of the state that push for these types of laws.

Just so you know, the politicians in Charlotte passed a law against discrimination for LGBT that was going into effect on April 1st and the the state politicians in RALEIGH passed HB2 in a hurry to roll back that Charlotte law. Yet Charlotte, as the biggest city, is taking most of the grief for this. Not really fair, but such is life.

Oh yeah - I'm a big fan of Pearl Jam for doing this as I've been following the issue and the heat on the governor has definitely turned up since PJ, Bruce, and others have canceled shows.

Exactly.

I would be pissed as #### if I had un-cancellable hotel rooms and airfare... but I get it.

I guess I wish they would have made the call as soon as the bill passed to give folks as much time as possible. Seems sorta reactionary on Bruce's coattails.

Chloe Dancer Crown of Thorns for only the 29th time in nearly 1000 shows.....

11 PJ shows and 5 Vedder shows.. never caught that one. It's my one big "want" for fenway 1 & 2.....

Good review of last night

Chloe/Crown looked like it was a request from an older couple in the pit, who they kept showing on the big screens singing along and losing their minds. I've gotten lucky and saw Crown twice before but never with the Chloe lead-in.

Other big highlights for me were Immortality, Marker in the Sand, I Got ####, Sleight of Hand, Footsteps and RITFW. Pretty good variety of songs I got to hear over the two nights.

pissed b/c that means they won't play it in NOLA tomorrow.  My 2nd favorite non PJ song of all time (Under Pressure)

Wow, some good tracks on that one.   Sad I wasn't able to make it.

Literally the weirdest setlist ever.  It's like they want to purposely #### with jazz fest.  awesome show.

1. State Of Love And Trust02. Arms Aloft In Aberdeen (as Arms Aloft In New Orleans)--(Bullen, Shields, Slattery, Stafford, Strummer)03. Mind Your Manners04. God’s Dice(Ed greets the audience and comments on how colorful they are. He likes it here because they not only tolerate colorful people but celebrate it. “Of course if you really want to see colorful people get arrested at about three in the morning. I know from experience. I don’t recommend it.”)05. Setting Forth06. Corduroy07. Nothingman08. In Hiding(Ed talks about the band still reeling from Prince’s death. He talks about the cover of Even Flowthat Prince played with 3rdEyeGirl and how they played “the #### out of it.” They hope to play they #### out of it as well in honor of Prince.)09. Even Flow10. Sirens (short outro)11. Unthought Known12. Long Road (“Michael requested this song for his brother John who passed away. Something I know too much about.”)13. Daughter(“Is this our version of jazz? This is about as close as it gets..”)14. Of The Earth15. Last Exit16. PorchEncore Break One17. Go (Vs album start)(Ed is glad the audience got to meet their friend Steve Gleason. He mentions the documentary coming out called Gleason. This one goes out to Steve.)http://www.teamgleason.org18. Inside Job19. Given To Fly20. Lightning Bolt (during intro of the song Ed spots a hat in the audience and asks if he can have it. I can’t see it but I think it is “Make Donald Drumpf Again" from John Oliver)(Ed praises the Red Hot Chili Peppers. He talks about how well they treated them when Pearl Jam opened for the Peppers. “If I wasn’t for the Peppers I would probably be hearing ‘Mr. Vedder clean up on aisle 3 or maybe I would be working at the legal pot store in Seattle.” This song is from when I was working in the drug store.)21. Better Man/Save It For Later-(Charley, Cox, Morton, Steele, Wakeling)22. Do The Evolution23. Alive24. The Real Me-(Townshend) with the horn section: Skerik-saxophone, Carly Meyers-trombone, Big Sam Williams-trombone, Drew Baham-trumpet25. Rockin' In The Free World-(Young)(Chad Smith of Red Hot Chili Pepper plays drums, Matt Cameron plays guitar, Nathan Followill on tambourine “over qualified, I know” Josh Klinghoffer from RHCP also plays guitar. additional guests)

Yep, awesome odd show. It felt like they wasted little time so they could fit more in, but then they finished 15 minuted early.   I loved The Real Me among others... SOLAT opener, In Hiding, Inside Job, Long Road.  Cool sax solo in RITFW too.

Great to chat with TF earlier in the day.  :hifive:

   yeah, when i saw the posted setlist, they had 2 songs scratched off: Got Some and Garden.  I guess they weren't sure if they could fit them all on in or not since JF has a strict 7:00 cutoff.

Hell of a set, especially for a festival. Music Midtown a couple years ago almost felt like a waste of time.

If there is one thing I would like to see is an entire acoustic set. Have they ever done that. Prob wont bc not everyone likes that.

Benaroya Hall is the only one that comes to mind besides Unplugged and some other acoustic sets from the early days.

In Charlottesville Ed came out alone and did 5 songs seated with just his acoustic guitar -- The End, Thumbing My Way, Sleight of Hand, Footsteps and Future Days. I just about floated out of the building but lots of people around me seemed bored.
