If this was the only show I was going to I'd be pissed. I'm member # 133xxx and I expect great seats to every show I go to. Maybe it's me being selfish, but I might only make 3 shows a tour.
You would not have been pissed at that show. You would have been front row. YOu can check where people are sitting here. I would have been second row and had my best seats ever if I would have been there (143xxx).

The thing about this is, and I've been in both situations, is that it's about how the fans are acting. They seriously feel entitled. I've seen it when I've been up there -- it's a joke sometimes. They will pout when a "popular" song is played that they've heard too many times. They're elitists, which is beyond laughable, especially for rock music, and especially with this band...not what either is about. Look, the band would never do this if they thought there was a better solution. We all know they are more than fair about everything. If you're going to get CHEAP tickets, UP FRONT, EVERY time they come to town, you can damn well get off your ###, be a little more appreciative of the experience, the music. These people were whining because they weren't getting "their" songs played? Are you ####### kidding me?

Really, it should only take a couple of shows to set an example for those acting like children. Let other people see what a show is like up close. Share. So what if "Betterman" comes on, it makes some fan seeing them for the first time happy. Let it go older folk; listen to the music.

Have not been around much lately...but I was at the Cleveland show, 15th row between Ed and Stone. They totally kicked #### yet again. PJ is so good live it really is becoming gross. I sorta wish Cleve had the Detroit set, but I can't complain. I'll be at Pitt and Cincy later this summer.

Some highlights/thoughts from Cleveland...

Smile - Stone on bass and Ament on guitar. Ament owned the little solo, it was great.

McCready steals the show back when he plays YL behind his back, yes, the whole song. :jawdrop:

Eddie was dancing around alot, sometimes it was hilarious. He's still got it, fellas.

Betterman was an interesting opener, the crowd singalong from the start was pretty intense.

Inside Job is great live, along with Unemployable, Comatose, Gone and Life Wasted.

I was a little disappointed with Severed Hand live, I might need to hear that one again or maybe on another boot.

Lukin--Do The Evolution--Spin The Black Circle--Porch was great to end the set. :headbang:

Immortality is still freaking amazing.

Stone singing Don't Gimme No Lip was rather comical. He looks real funny with the mic, next time he needs to get it on a mic stand. Very refreshing though.

I almost forgot....It's OKAY tagging Daughter. Absolutely speechless version. This could have made a so-so show great (this was not a bad show!!!). I'll probably never witness a better tag, let alone It's Okay again.

Most importantly, the band was happy, making me very happy. :D

It's OK is by far my favorite tag...would love to hear it live

ITs prorbably been covered somewhere in this thread, but where is a good place to dowload the shows? The only one I can ever find is Toronto...

Grand Rapids Setlist

Pre-Opener

Dead Man Walking, Can't Explain

Set 1

Elderly Woman Behind The Counter In A Small Town, Given To Fly, World Wide Suicide, Life Wasted, Severed Hand, Sad, Marker In The Sand, Red Mosquito, Even Flow, Love Boat Captain, Corduroy, Daughter/(Blitzkrieg Bop)/(I Believe In Miracles), Army Reserve, Green Disease, Why Go, Inside Job, Rearviewmirror

Encore 1 Sleight Of Hand, Off He Goes, Around The Bend, Parting Ways, Hard To Imagine, Crazy Mary, Alive

Encore 2 Do The Evolution, Comatose, Satan's Bed, Leatherman, Blood, Baba O'Riley, Yellow Ledbetter
Holy ####. This might be the best setlist of the tour so far. Tons of tour debuts for songs. I'm getting so jealous of all these shows
I'm with you on this...I am seeing them in Philly next Saturday, and I really don't want to see Jeremy, Black, Better Man, etc. instead of songs like Sad, Red Mosquito, and pretty much that whole 1st encore...wow
Never been to the Tweeter before. What's the tailgating scene like there? Hoping to get down there between 2-3 from L.I. Saturday. Its supposed to be in the 80's...

...with a chance of scattered thunderstorms.

Looks like emails went out to the NJ show 10C purchasers for the NYC Storytellers on May 31st. It's nice to live on the eastern seaboard or Seattle if you're a PJ fan.

Well, not all the time, but it does happen. A buddy has a 75XXX member number, and I've had his other seat many times (always first couple or rows, at worst). I have seen people taking notes about everything, which is a bit over the top (I can understand some notes, I guess, but sheesh). And my friend, who is a HUGE fan, concurs, FWIW.There is definitely attitude at times down there. When popular songs come on from say Ten, you will often see fans roll their eyes, sit down, or bail. Look, they can do what they want, but the pouting and attitude are ridiculously childish. They think they deserve to have their requests ALWAYS played (like the recent Leash brigade). That is not their right.

It doesn't matter which band, what show, or where your seats are, if the people around you are duds (and there are many forms), it can really subtract from the experience. Imagine being the band, playing to that BS...

All in all, if PJ felt something needed to be done, you can bet it's indeed become a bit of a problem. However, I would guess it will probably be "fixed" after the recent eruption, which is great.

Vedder tries hard, but band is dated

Cleveland Plain Dealer

Most of us will always associate Pearl Jam with its early '90s video for "Even-Flow," in which frontman Eddie Vedder stage-dives from an imposing ledge into the crowd. But the band that performed Saturday was not that Pearl Jam. Older, slower and often dated-sounding, the band is slowly morphing into the rock dinosaurs it rebelled against in its '90s grunge heyday.

The 15,000 fans at The Q didn't seem to mind. Opening with "Better Man" off 1994's "Vitalogy," Vedder strummed the chords and allowed the crowd to sing the first verse before joining in. Front-loaded with songs from Pearl Jam's new self-titled disc, the set continued with the driving "World Wide Suicide," the garage-y "Life Wasted" and the album standout "Unemployable" before harkening back to favorites such as "Daughter."

Unfortunately, much of the new material seemed like a lackluster attempt to recreate the past, and the band's static stage presence made the laser show welcome. The exception was the engaging Vedder. The politically engaged singer couldn't help inviting the crowd to move to Seattle after criticizing Ohio's role in the last election. Nor was he afraid to declare "Pistons Suck!" after a mention of Detroit drew boos.

The 2½-hour set included two encores, featuring classics (an extended "Alive" that found Vedder on top of a PA speaker), covers (a haphazard rendition of Neil Young's "(Expletive) Up") and a Jim Morrison-esque description of a dream in which the moon, as a metaphor for democracy, vanishes one night. Ironically, Vedder's rant was a better metaphor for that evening's performance: rambling and ultimately unsatisfying despite the frontman's best efforts.

Opener My Morning Jacket warmed up the crowd with an energetic set that featured "Wordless Chorus" and "What a Wonderful Man" off its recent disc, "Z." Combining the Allman Brothers' guitar harmonies with Mercury Rev's dreamy soundscapes, the band's sound translated perfectly to the arena setting.

So I just read an apology from the 10C about the ticket mixup. It was not, in fact, to put a few in check. Oh well. :lmao:

Good for you TF, you are happy now.

I wasn't at the show, but sounds like this writer had an agenda:

Is this really what most of us associate PJ with?

When did they rebell against rock dinosaurs. PJ more than any band has embraced classic rock n roll
album standout "Unemployable" before harkening back to favorites such as "Daughter."
Haven't seen Unemployable ever listed as "Album Standout" And if this guy knew anything, he would know that if there was 1 PJ song that you could set your watch to at any concert, it would be Daughter. Instead, he inferrs that PJ wasn't winning the crowd over, so they decided to play Daughter to make everyone happy.

That was a pretty crummy review. I've downloaded every one of these concerts, and they all sound great. I would go so far as to say that, all things considered, they are on the short list of the best live American rock bands ever.

It was a crummy review, but not everybody gets it. That's fine by me. Actually, I think it is funny to see everyone get their panties in a wad over one bad review. I've seen a few glowing reviews of the concerts so far as well. NOt everyone is going to like them or appreciate them, but that's music. What's your favorite show so far on this tour?

I think I'm still partial to Toronto 2. Admittedly I haven't listened to Cleveland yet. So hell for all I know that guy's right but I highly doubt it.I was talking to Red, I'd like to put together a comprehensive set as the US tour goes on of all the songs they play in one uber-live-collection. I figure since they sound so good, and the levels and quality are all the same across each show, it would turn out pretty damn good. I'd like to get input from everybody at some point ontheir favorite versions, shining moments, etc, in case I miss something ... also bad spots as well. I would strongly consider sharing this with those who are involved when it's finished.

Actually, that was a pretty dumb statement by me, it's a good show. I actually just listened to the first half again today - had it mixed up with another show. It's solid - I don't know if it is better then Chicago 1 (have not heard that).

Cool idea, I nominate Crown of Thorns from Chicago 2.

Gonna be a lot of Chicago 2. That Mamasan trilogy will have to lead off one of the discs.Everybody who wants to be involved, for now just keep it in the back of your minds and take note of any highlights or (relative) lowlights you hear in any of the shows you get your hands on. PM me if you want, or just post here, I will remember that we started on page 11. This will be awesome if we do it right. If I end up going it alone it's a lock I'll miss stuff, I just don't have time to analyze all of these, and if I tried to I'd get so sick of it the compilation would never happen.

im partial to the first ever performance of Inside Job (Toronto 1) even though it wasnt as crisp as it could have been.. it was great to hear it live.

also.. crown of thorns from chicago 2 was amazing to hear

So, for a compilation, it is best to leave out Inside Job (Tor1) if it's just not the best...even if it was for you. It will just help us get a better CD for everybody.

ive only heard the song performed three times once live in toronto the other 2 on boots (albany and chicago 1) and i think the albany one was best. i dont know if inside job would make the final cd because its new and a lot of people dig the old "rare stuff"..

Every song makes the cut.

Maybe we just do the first leg and see how that goes. There's a 20-day break after E. Rutherford.

It will be a little while before I get to listen to any of the first half of the tour...but, I will be attending from Denver on (sans SF), so I'll be better for some second half input.

Nice.

So you're thinking of taking one version (which should be the best/most memorable) of every song played (either for Leg 1 or the entire tour)? Then ordering them as a massive live concert '06 collection? So we'd be looking at a 5-10 CD set I'd say. That would be sweeeeeeeeet!

That's the plan.So far my thought is open the set with Release and include most of the new stuff on Disc 1, since they've been playing most of that stuff early in the set. Open disc 2 with the Mamasan Trilogy from Chicago 2. Then just mix it up until the end, wrapping up the set with Free World and Yellow Ledbetter.

I don't think it would be more than 4-5 discs.

In (heading to Philly and NJ in the next 10 days, so I can give hands on input from these shows).

And, hopefully, STORYTELLERS!!
So will Storytellers be on VH1 Wednesday the 31st, or are they just taping it for air on a later date?
Definitely the taping date. Most likely, it will be aired later (don't know if any of them have been aired live as it happens or later that day).Likely, the proverbial needle in a haystack, but, since I did not hook up for Letterman, I will keep my fingers crossed.

woaaaahhhhhhh.

83 songs so far
This will be a good thread chosing the songs, but IMO you HAVE TO open with Release and close with Ledbetter.TIA
Yeah that goes without saying GBDisc 1 will open with Release, WWS

Disc 2 will open with Long Road, Corduroy

Disc 3 will open with Mamasan trilogy

Ledbetter will close set*

This is not up for debate.

Actually, the first encore from CHI2 may open disc 3. Wasted Rep., MotH, then Mamasan.

*Rockin in the Free World will close out one of the later discs. The second Detroit encore will close out the entire set (RITFW not played there)
