***Official Pearl Jam Thread*** (1 Viewer)

sounds like someone threw something at Eddie during Rearviewmirror tonight in Camden, NJ and he stormed offstage pissed off, right before the encore. Probably not a big deal, but yet another reason to make us here in the Philly area look bad again.

The setlist is a LOT different from last night's show...looks like they only played 9 of the same songs.
Actually, the band LOVES Philly...seriously. For whatever reason, Pearl Jam "record" sales go off in that area. They're not even sure why, but there's a disproportionate number of sales in and around Philly, compared to the rest of the country. I know it was true of Riot Act, so we can only assume that wasn't an anomaly for ONE album.

What's more is, they don't know why, really. I was at the Camden show a few years ago (Tweeter?...outside), and anyway, Vedder actually brought it up, in thanking the fans. Listen to the boot, if you have it.

Along those lines, I have a story about that show...

I was like 2nd row (just walked right up) and there was a moment that kind of blew me away. I've been to a ton of shows, so there are many cloudy memories, no doubt. But there was a part in Camden that really sticks out for me. It was during Elderly Woman. You know that part, "I just wanna scream, hello...". Well, for the "HELLO" part, Vedder was gonna sort of let the crowd sing.

I was on the side, so I turn to look up at the crowd and it was like it was choregraphed...all of 'em just screaming "HELLOOO". It looked like every single person had their hands in the air, and holy #### was it loud. Lights had been turned on the audience, as well, so you could really see it all...all the way up to the grass, where everyone was of course, standing, waving...singing in unison.

So I look back over to the stage, and there is Vedder in awe. He really was taken back by it. He kind of falls back, and you can hear him say "Jesus Christ", as he looks over at Stone. You can actually hear it on the boot. Love listening to that part, obviously. You can hear them singing the rest, as well.

So, I don't know how well I was able to explain that moment, but it really was awesome. Not many times have I seen an audience shock a band for a bit. And now, when I hear that part, I'm always reminded of that crowd in Camden, a place I'd never been. Good stuff.
 nice story, Glad you liked Philly Sonny

Anyone here know of PJ making an appearence at a club in Manhattan Friday night or yesterday? Someone told me today that they saw a mob at 6th Ave and 21st St and people hawking and looking to buy tix.

I forget which day they said.

Both days are between scheduled shows- Friady heading from Boston to Camden, and yesterday from Camden to East Rutherford.

They taped a VH1 Storytellers at the Avalon (old Limelight).Tremendous show last night...highlights...Immortality...Alone...Mamasan trilogy...Glorified G

Classic moment was when Vedder asks the crowd if they would boo if they played Bushleaguer. Some of the crowd boos. Then, he asks how many would cheer. The place explodes. He goes on about how they were booed before, but they are resilient; that this is the area where the first "Play Leash you #######" sign was hoisted...and then they break into Leash.

Ended with Indifference (thank God no YL...tired o' that one)

Tremendous show, with the final show of the leg to come on Saturday!! Should be another classic.

Once the East Ruffs are done I'll start hammering out the compilation.  Good resource here:thumbup:   I was doing this manually until I found that.
I guess I should have told you about that one... :D .Interesting note:

Cleveland has 6 songs that have not been played at any other show so far.

Chicago Night II has 4.

Doesn't look like any others come too close.
Yeah Washington had nothing new. Kinda glad I didn't go now - I was going to but I got sick - I've been so immersed in this crap I'm almost Pearl Jammed out anyway. Something tells me the last show of the leg they'll break out a surprise or two. Hopefully, anyway.
Yep, leg-enders are the best shows to go to. I was lucky enough to be at State College in '03 and Pittsburgh on 9/5/00. Those are some good shows.

VH1 Storytellers Setlist

Set: Betterman, Unemployable, Worldwide Suicide, Gone, Sleight of Hand, Army Reserve, Insignificance, Alive

Encore 1: Here's To The State Of Mississippi, Q&A period, Life Wasted

Notes: Here's To The State Of Mississippi included altered lyrics to mention George W. Bush.
Do you know when this will be on yet?
No. Some dude on one of the boards says he programs for vh1 and said nothing is in their database yet. There is nothing to disprove him at this point. Usually ST's take 2-3 months to air.I'm thinking Better Man and Alive are shoe-ins for the TV show, but I'm not sure what else based just off the setlist. Hopefully it's a two hour episode!
Just heard this will be airing on Saturday July 1st at 10PM, can't confirm it though it was just on a morning show's music news update.

NJ setlist

Pre-set: You've Got To Hide Your Love Away, It Makes No Difference (Ed w/ MMJ)

Set: Severed Hand, Corduroy, World Wide Suicide, Do The Evolution, Marker In The Sand, Given To Fly, Dissident, Even Flow, Army Reserve, Immortality, Green Disease, Not For You/(Modern Girl), Alone (stopped when Eddie's mic cut out, then restarted halfway through), Jeremy, Why Go, Life Wasted, Rearviewmirror

Encore 1: Wasted Reprise, Man Of The Hour, Come Back, Footsteps, Once, Alive

Encore 2: Last Exit, Comatose, Leatherman, Glorified G, Leash, Baba O'Riley, Indifference
Wow, that's an increadible setlist. Looks like the first 9/10 songs were just hard core until they slowed down with Immortality. You've got the jumbled mamasan trilogy again.

Damn that's the first (and probably only, on this leg) time they played Alone. I hope they polish it up on the boot. Probably will.

T Minus 10 hours until my first PJ concert!

Sooooooo.....
It was a phenomenal experience... My gf and I got there about 6:30, when the doors opened...We were directly across the arena from the stage in the third row of the upper section...Excellent view of the whole stage, a bit far away, but not bad at all...

Grabbed some knosh and some beers and were sitting there chilling when Eddie walks out by himself with a guitar..."Pearl Jam couldn't make it tonight...." he mutters into the mic and then starts playing "You've Got To Hide Your Love Away"...Very cool...Voice was in excellent form and the song was a hit for the 10% of the crowd that was there at that point...

My Morning Jacket came on and played for about 45 minutes...I like them, and they were pretty good, but I couldn't help thinking, "c'mon, get this over with so PJ can play"...

As you can see from the set list, Pearl Jam rocked hard straight out of the gate, ripping through Severed Hand, Corduroy, World Wide Suicide, Do The Evolution, and Marker In The Sand, Given To Fly, Dissident, and Even Flow, in quick succession...New songs sounded great live, LOTS of energy right off the bat...

Even Flow was spectacular... Eddie had prefaced the song by saying something along the lines of "Now in the middle of the song we're going to let Mike here take over, because if we don't, well, he'd just do it anyway"...And McCready sure did, blistering through a killer guitar solo, pulling out all the stops, playing behind his head, etc...Effin awesome! After EF, Eddie told the crowd that, "I don't want to say anything...But Boston was louder." Fired up the crowd a bit more....

At this point they finally slowed down a bit and played Army Reserve, which is not one of my favorites off of the new album...Lots of fans streamed out to hit the bathroom or grab a beer when he announced the song, so I guess they agree....Also think lots of fans were spent frmo the kick #### opening ...

Kept it a bit mellow next with Immortality, which sounded great, and the crowd seemed to get back into it, singing along to the chorus...Green Disease was next, which I like, but it seemed like few in the audience knew it...

Then came a fantastic version of Not For You, with a Modern Girl tag...Sounded great...Again, crowd was back into it, singing along and really getting into the chorus...Band was tight, and Eddie was intense...Putting on a Rock Star 101 clinic witht he way he owned the stage...McCready really impressed me again during Not For You...You cannot always tell on the studio albums what a talented guitarist he is, but seeing them live really reaffirmed what I had picked up from the bootlegs I have; Mike rocks HARD!

Next came Alone, which half the crowd was going nuts for and half had no idea what the song was...I was psyched, and was really getting into it...Then Mike's guitar cut out... Crowd started booing as techs scrambled to fix it...After about a minute or two, the band started up again, picking right where they left off and finishing the song...I didn't care that it was interrupted, it was AWESOME to hear live...

At this point I do think the crowd was lagging just a bit...The combination of the sreeching halt caused by the tech malfuction and the fact that 2 of the last 3 songs weren't regular fan faves (Green Disease and Alone) had caused the energy level to sag just a bit...

Well Pearl Jam knew how to fix that, breaking out into Jeremy and Why Go, which certainly got the crowd back into it...Hearing these long time faves live was great...I know some concert vets are tired or hearing the same songs over and over, but you have to remember there are always fans and new converts who may be at their 1st PJ concert....

Life Wasted continued the energy, and lead into the Set 1 finale of Rearviewmirror...It was frenetic, with the guitars pushing the rhythm faster and faster as Eddie tore through the song...Here too there was very impressive musicianship as the band extended the song before coming back to it and crushing the ending!

Encore 1 began with Wasted Reprise, which sounded fantastic! Nice mellow segue into Man of the Hour, which was solid...Then came one of the show highlights, IMO, an AMAZING version of Come Back...This song had really grown on me as I lsitened to the new album over and over, and it was excellent live...An honest, raw reading from Eddie...Had this great effect on the crowd, as we all got caught up in the emotion of the song...

Then came the opening strains of Footsteps, and I went nuts...Are they gonna do Mamasan? I wondered...Could I be that lucky at my 1st PJ show? Footsteps was chillingly beautiful, and led into Once and Alive...Yes, apparently I could be that lucky! Alive was the Encore 1 show stopper, with a great light show that really enhanced the experience...Towards the end of the song Eddie climbed up on one of the stage's side amps, and was singing it to a section of the crowd that was all standing and shouting it back to him in total adulation...It was a great Rock 'n Roll moment...

At the end of Alive Eddie took a nasty fall and really limped off the stage...I was afraid that it would prematurely end the show, as it looked BAD...

But they came back out for Encore 2, with Eddie limping something fierce...Tore into Last Exit and Comatose, revving the crowd back up into a near frenzy...It had been over 2 hours by this point, but as Eddie said, "As long as you're still here, we're still here."

Leatherman was next...Funny moment, as Eddie was telling some rambling story about the writing of it, and then just stopped and said "leatherman"...This annoying drunk chick next to me thoguht he said "Betterman" and she went nuts, shrieking abotu how it was her favorite song...She was a bit confused when it started and she didn't know any of the words... :lmao:

Glorified G was next, and was another great song live...Lots of crowd energy for that one...

Then Eddie started talking about how the last time they were there they got some criticism from the fans for playing Bu$hleaguer, and asked the crowd if they would boo if they played it (maybe 25% booed) and thn asked if we would cheer if he played it (the other 75% cheered)...He said, "Well we're not going to play it."

He then told a story about how the last time they were in NY someone help up a sign that said "Play Leash You Pu##ies." So they played it, and it sounded great. Eddie ended it by saying "Pu##ies No Longer!" Was a pretty funny moment...

By this point the house lights had come up and Eddie started talking about how they were long past curfew...Crowd booed, but quickly turned to cheers when the band broke into Baba O'Riley...Was a great moment...Crowd totally got into it, and the band really brought it home, with Mike doing the Townshend guitar windmills and Mike and Eddie ending it with a Daltrey leap!

There was time for one last song, and I thought it would be YLB, but instead they broke into Indifference, which was just a really great way to end the show...Understated following the bombast of Baba O'Riley, but seemed like a perfect summation for the show...

All in all it was probably the greatest concert I've ever been to, and I am already hooked on PJ live...Thinking about driving out Saturday and trying to get my hands on a couple of tix...Can only imagine what they have up their sleeves for the last show of Leg 1...

Excellent recap TU. I really wanted to go this summer as I'm gettting into the new cd more and more each day. Unfortunately, I have work conflicts for each show that's in my area

I've seen them twice, but no concert I have been to before or since will ever compare to the first time I saw them. Glad you enjoyed the show!

Awesome writeup TU!! It's great when a cherry show goes so well (and that's usually the case with PJ).

You are a total trooper if you've never been to a PJ show before and you see the pre-set. Very nice work. Hide Your Love Away was more of a staple last tour, I'm glad Ed is still playing it from time to time. It is killer live. Hopefully he had his harmonica in tune. :)

I love a show that kicks out of the gates like this one seemed to. I've been at a few myself and it really sets up for a great night. Still, can't get enough of Release or Long Road to get rolling either.

ALONE! That had to be some moment. I heard it once back in '94, and my recolection of that show is rather tainted. I hope I can get this tune again later this month.

Glad you got to hear some classics. Some people do get sick of them, I don't understand it, they are being very selfish. F-em. I can pretty much get into any of them, but if there is one I'd get tired of it would be Jeremy. Great crowd song though.

Too bad you, and the chick next to you, didn't get Better Man. The beginning is quite an experience if Ed lets the crowd sing. They led off Cleveland with it and it was amazing.

BABA! Another great cover they absolutely rock. I love it.

It definitely would be worth the drive for tomorrow night. You won't hear many repeats not on the new disc, I could probably guarantee that 100%.

Nice write-up. My brother was there last night and called me a couple of times to let me have a listen. That was a fantastic show and they're really going to have to work to top it tomorrow night. If you have the means, go to the show tomorrow.

And all those dorks that get pissed b/c they're playing a "popular" song should get bent. You go to a PJ show and you expect to hear certain songs and if you like them enough, you won't care because they are ####### awesome.

Does anyone here track what they've heard all-time? I'm thinking of breaking it down by album next to see exactly what I've missed out on. Am I taking this too far? :headbang:  :banned:

You heard Lukin 5 times? I'm jealous! That is pretty cool that you did that. Is there anything you haven't heard yet? Looks like your list is pretty much complete.

 I forgot all about that. Thanks.

What is Sheraton Gibson from? Don't think I know that one...
Pete Townsend cover. I think Eddie's played it twice. Once at a RRHOF celebration and one other time that doesn't come to mind right now.

What is Sheraton Gibson from?  Don't think I know that one...
Townshend, "Who Came First" I believe. Cleve '94 (only time ever played). Me and my buddy almost made a SG sign for the show on 5/20, but we didn't want to be one of those people.I'm sitting' in the Sheraton Gibson playing' my Gibson

And boy do I wanna go home.

I'm sitting' in the Sheraton Gibson playing' my Gibson

And boy do I feel all alone.

Cleveland, you blow my mind.

Cleveland, I wish I were home this time.

Don't want to be unkind .

But I'm sitting' in the Sheraton Gibson playing' my Gibson

Thinking' 'bout a sunny barbeque

I'm sitting in the Sheraton Gibson playing' my Gibson

And my mind is a Cleveland afternoon.

Cleveland, you blow my mind.

Cleveland, I wish I were home this time

Don't wanna be unkind.

Cleveland, you blow my mind.

Cleveland, I wish I were home this time.

Don't wanna be unkind.

Oh Cleveland, you blow my mind.

Oh Cleveland, I wish I were home this time

Don't wanna be unkind.

Cleveland '94 is the only PJ show it's been played at.

I bet there is alot. You have just convinced me to break it down. :D

Thinking about driving out Saturday and trying to get my hands on a couple of tix...Can only imagine what they have up their sleeves for the last show of Leg 1...
You should definitely go...it will be worth your whileCheck the PJ Message Pit...there are always people with extras (could luck out and get a good 10C ticket)

PJ Message Pit
Yep, he's right TU...GO! This is one of the great things about PJ, it will be different. You will be so glad you went, without a doubt, epecially for a "last" show. And do not think twice for a minute about getting in. There are endless ways to do so, and extremely helpful fans that won't gouge you. JUST GO.

And GREAT writeup, btw...thanks.

Rutherford night 2 Soundcheck: Breath, Breakerfall, Cinnamon Girl, Alone and DIRTY FRANK Ed,

Ummm, get those two ready for Pitt and Cincy.

Thx.

OK I'm working on the compilation now. Should be small enough to fit on a site like bigupload. I figure what I'll do is make it now, then modify it over the course of the next leg(s) and re-release it periodically. There are a few songs we're really gonna want on here that I know they'll play eventually.

If anyone has any particular ideas, thoughts or preferences about the compilation that haven't already been mentioned post here or PM me. I haven't listened to half the shows because I have a life. Not really, but I still haven't. Either way, I will do my best now and I will accept no complaints once it's finished.

Pittsburgh and Cincinnati are just 3 weeks away.
Fixed that up just a little bit. :D
 Couldn't take the time off for both shows. Cincy is closer and on a Saturday (still a six hour drive though). We'll be at the CCFA benefit deal at the Beer Sellar before the show on Saturday. :banned:

I think Cincy is gonna be a helluva show. They were washed out in '03 by the floods and the band hasn't been back since. And this is the same place as the Who tragedy. Cincinnati Riverfront Coliseum = Firstar Center = US Bank Arena.
On December 3, 1979, eleven concert ticketholders in a crowd of 8,000 to 10,000, or perhaps more, were crushed to death and scores were injured trying to enter a sold-out rock concert by The Who in Cincinnati, Ohio, USA.

The rowdy British band, enjoying the height of popularity, had returned to the city for its first concert since 1975, at Cincinnati Riverfront Coliseum (now know as Firstar Center).

Bummer for you, TU. Tremendous show, as usual. Surprising they would open with the same tune both nights, but Saturday, Ed played the intro, rather than the taped version they have been using (also liking they they come in with "Master/Slave" playing...good tip of the cap to their beginnings).

Loving the rarities they are breaking out...In Hiding, Rats, Garden, HTI. All good stuff. And, on a personal note, loved Don't Give Me No Lip, as that is my 4 year olds' fave (brought a big smile to my face). Stone is just goofy, as he has zero front man moves. But, he did give some big WOOOOs during the song.

All in all, bummed the first leg is over, as I am not travelling to any other shows (at least not yet :D ). So, my best hope is for Leg 3 to come back East in 2007.

For those who continue the journey, or will be seeing them for the first time this tour, you have my envy.

Just picked up their latest. After a couple listens, I have to say it ranks right up there with their best.

JZilla, you frequent the Red Mosquito boards? I thought you might be able to give a nice writeup over there for everyone, sorta like Nakedeye66 did.

I was just coming in here to say somebody just uploaded the exact thing (in FLACs) I've been working on at a torrent site I frequent. And you know what... I'm GLAD because I've been busy as hell. It's amazing, it really looks like he/they had a lot of the exact same ideas I did. As soon as it's up in mp3 I am going grab his. I may tweak it A LITTLE if it doesn't fall out like I wanted mine too, as far as disk openers, etc. But it looks really good. From there I will gladly make it available to you h0m0s somehow or another. Will advise.

dl'ing it now. It's just over 1 GB  Hopefully winrar will take it just down enough to fit on bigupload. I'll work it out.

I'm sure the Don't Gimme No Lip was better in E. Ruth, but the Ed talking was great in Cleveland's version of DGNL-->Smile.

He intro'd Stone as singer for DGNL, played DGNL, then intro'd Stone special guest on bass for Smile, played Smile, then props Jeff on guitar after Smile.

Would have been cool to have them b2b.

Jzilla, what's your username on Red Mosquito? I used to frequent the synergy site way back when, but it got ridiculous and I ended up at Red Mosquito. Then, I guess, FBG kinda took over. Anyway, how is RM now? And what other PJ sites do you use?

Bobcat is the RM guy, not me.I've only ever posted on PJ.com, and I don't really like that board. I'm a Pearl Jam fan but Jesus, those people are friggin nuts (and Ten Club elitists)
