Quote from Mike in Tampa paper article

The band's next album is "in its infancy stage," McCready says, so although new material isn't likely to find its way into the set lists, McCready promises some surprises."We'll be doing some of our more interesting B-sides," McCready says. "We'll be doing some stuff the fans have not heard in a long time."

Really like to hear Lost Dogs like "All Night", "Undone" and "Hold On" (my favorite LD) on this tour...cap the standards (Alive, Jeremy, EWBTCST, Black, etc) to 2 or 3 a night tops and mix it up a little more....you have way more diehards at most of these shows than you do casual fans....

Note to the band

Please, for the love of God, play "No Way" at one of the Camden shows...I've been hoping to hear this live at every show I've been to since Yield was released and when I've sat in the first 3 rows (3 or 4 times), I've resorted to using signs, tossing t shirts on stage with NO WAY scrolled on it (and Ed read it and laughed), etc..... definitely one of my top 3 favorite PJ tunes

Tiger Fan, I got your PM and we'll get down to planning in the next week or so as the show gets a little closer.

Less than two weeks away and the tour starts this week!!!! :banned:

Dirty Frank is a bad mother####er

I would love some Black Red Yellow, but I doubt it

Maybe Education, after breaking it out at The Vic and Lollapalooza they may be adding it to the repertoire

Just listening to some old boots...any of you guys had the pleasure of getting the "Interstellar Overdrive/Corduroy" opener at a show?....I friggin LOVE IO (love to see them extend the jam a little), and I'd love a chance to get to hear it in person. Really comes out firing and sets the tone for a great show...

We always have an opening song pool at our tailgate for the PJ concerts in Camden, and I really wish my number would come up for this combo.... :excited:

i've gotten the IO/Cordoroy before. Corduroy is definitely one of those songs I won't be disappointed if it doesn't get played

Well, you can say that about several songs, but Corduroy is definitely near the bottom of my "PLEASE DON'T PLAY SONG X" list...that is reserved for Jeremy, Evenflow, YL, Betterman (unless it is accompanied by a sweet Save It for Later tag), EWBTCST, etc...Corduroy is decent enough even after hearing it live 20+ times, and it gets the crowd rockin as much as any other song to start off a show...

definitely agree about jeremy and even flow. YL/Betterman to a certain extent. I'm a big Elderly Woman fan.....I've yet to be at a show with an extended Daughter tag....I'd be really pumped for a good one

I always seem to get one at a show. Most notably, I was at the 2000 VA Beach show with the first playing of the "It's OK" tag  Randalls Island 2 had a SWEET extended tag with The Real Me, Another Brick in the Wall, and WMA all mixed in...we got Highway to Hell with Another Brick in the Wall at State College..and so on and so on.......I can live without Daughter, but it is tolerable if a decent tag comes with it...

just went back and looked up the setlists of the 10 shows i've been to....and i've actually had some daughter tags...but nothing even remotely like the It's ok or even a decent WMA. That It's OK tag in Va Beach was sick

The Camden setlists are always really solid....good variation from the sets on Night 1 vs. Night 2...longer encores than most shows....always a surprise or two....having a day off between VA Beach and Camden should be a bonus....we've had two Camden shows in the past where Ed was sick  although that shouldn't be an issue since it is a short jaunt this time around.

The crowds are always very good and I think the band feeds off of that energy, much like the MSG shows...the massive tailgate lends to alot of drunken a-holes on the lawn, but you'll get that anywhere...

The 2005 Philly show is still one of my most memorable Philly area shows.... amazing set..Sonic Reducer  ...the crowd sings the entire first verse and chorus of Betterman on the boot....the crowd on Alive was just insane...every friggin person in the crowd pumping their fist.....

2005-10-03 Philadelphia Pennsylvania

Set 1 Wash, Hail Hail, Brain Of J., Spin The Black Circle, Given To Fly, Sad, Alone, Even Flow, Green Disease, Faithfull, Whipping, Not For You/(Modern Girl), Leatherman, Better Man/(Save it for Later), Nothingman, Once, Bleed For Me, Blood

Encore 1 Around The Bend, Harvest Moon, Hard To Imagine, Crown Of Thorns, Crazy Mary, Alive

Encore 2 Last Kiss, In My Tree, Do The Evolution, Sonic Reducer, Little Sister, Leaving Here, Rockin' In The Free World, Yellow Ledbetter

Since I'm all geeked up right now and can't sleep...lets talk about shows we've seen..

1996

Randalls Island 1 and 2

Don't need to say much about these...my first shows and still two of the best experiences I've ever had at PJ shows...simply amazing

1998

Tibetan Freedom Concert- DC

Camden 1 and 2

MSG 1 and 2

Columbia, MD

Washington

First Philly shows I ever saw and PJ's first trip to the area since the early 90s....MSG 2 was amazing...Columbia was meh, but the DC show was incredible....Constitution Hall only seats abou 3500 people and the views/sound were top notch....

1999

Ed and C Average- Tibetan Freedom- Wisconsin

Ahhh, to be young with no responsibilities again...traveled halfway across the country for this one with a couple buddies...Probably one of my favorite shows, albeit not full band.....95% covers and C Average kicked ###!

2000

VA Beach

Charlotte

Greensboro

Saratoga Springs

Camden 1 and 2

Hit the VA Beach show with a group of friends, then my girlfriend and I drove down to NC for the Charlotte and Greensboro shows...VA Beach was the first show since Roskilde and it had a weird vibe to it...Greensboro was OK, but Charlotte was great....No Code-heavy set...never a big thing....4+ minute improv...great trip...Saratoga was an interesting venue, the set was decent, but we were there more for the ponies than to see PJ :;

2003

Philly Spectrum

State College

Camden 1 and 2

State College...nuff said....Best "Save It for Later" tag I've ever heard at the Spectrum show....f

2005

Atlantic City 1 and 2

Philly Wachovia Center

AC= Amazing....Wachovia Center= amazing....AC was GA and the crowd was nuts...first (and best) live playing of "Gone"....incredibily varied sets...."Long Road" to open into "Porch" night 1 :lmao: Present Tense opener Night 2....."Don't Gimme No Lip"..."Bee Girl"..."Harvest Moon"..."U"....what a weekend it was, and to top it off with the Wachovia show...wow....

2006

Camden 1 and 2

I think that's it...lol....yeah, my gf thinks I'm nuts....she doesn't "get it", but she's a trooper about it...hitting Camden 1 and 2 and MSG 2 on this swing, so I'll be good to go...would love to hit a Boston show, but having a business really has put a crimp in my PJ style... :lmao:

Cool stories....

Hershey 2003: My buddy was in the front row and during "State of Love and Trust", he tossed a harmonica up to Ed, and he plays it at the 2:47 mark for about 10 seconds...then Ed tosses my buddie's harmonica and plays his own right around the 3:07 mark until the song ends... :lmao:

Camden 1, 1998: Second encore (one song) with Porch as the show closer....we were in the second row on Stone's side....during the jam at the end, Ed came over to our side of the stage to lean down into the crowd...everyone was pushing, chairs getting knocked over, total rush to the stage....I was reaching out to grab Ed ( he reached down to me) and security (one thing about Camden: the security inside the venue are total #####) started beating the crap out of me....there is a boot from the show floating around, and you can hear Ed yelling at the guards for attacking me.."let him go, he's just a kid, let him go"... :lmao: thanks, Ed..and then I threw a Dennis Rodman jersey to him, which he threw over his shoulder and carried offstage with him... :lmao:

Man, these shows can't get here soon enough.... :lmao:

I've only been to one :coffee: Merriweather, 2000

I had a good excuse for most of the 90's, I was either overseas (Pearl Jam still plays the South more than they play the Middle East) or married with little kids/poor/owned

But since then, the only excuse is either I have other crap going on or can't find anyone to go with. This Camden set will tide me over for a while.

First Show:

August 9, 1992; Jones Beach (Lollapalooza)

Setlist: (Summertime Rolls)/Why Go, Deep, Jeremy, Even Flow, Garden, Alive, Porch

I was 15 years old that summer, and I was pumped for Lollapalooza. I had heard some buzz about PJ before this, but at the time I was more psyched to see Soundgarden and the Chili Peppers at Lollapalooza. Well Pearl Jam just ####### blew me away. Looking back, it's amazing that they only played 7 real songs, because the set (which was only 55 minutes long) seems like it was a 3 hour epic show in my memory.

The energy, power, charisma and craziness was off the charts. This was during Eddie's peak stage climbing, jumping period, and at this show he did this:

I honestly had never seen anything like this before, and I honestly thought there was a decent chance he'd fall and either really hurt himself or even worse.

It's a show I remember vividly to this day

My most memorable Camden moment was the 7/5/2003 show. If you take a look at the setlist, you will see that RITFW is in the middle of the set rather than as an encore. Well, Philly starts launching fireworks for July 4th celebration in the middle of the show and Eddie's like "...what are they, bombing us" or some type of remark like that. Then, they launch into a blistering version of the tune. Great moment of a great show. TU, got that one?

:loco: I was third row at that show, so I couldn't see the fireworks, but it was an amazing moment....stuff like that is what makes the Philly shows special...

:loco:  Really wish I could have seen PJ back in the day, pre No Code, but they never toured and if they did, they didn't make it out to the East Coast...the 1994-1995 Vitalogy era is probably my favorite and some of the shows from that period were legendary (Soldier Field, etc)

PJ must have some weird convergence with fireworks

At Lollapalooza this past summer in Chicago a bunch of fireworks started going off over Lake Michigan, unbeknownst to the band at first, during Even Flow...

They then dedicated Given to Fly to the fireworks...

Nice moment

First time I saw them was mid- to late '90s at Memorial Stadium in Seattle. Sean Lennon opened and was great. Then the Wallflowers played and were great. Then PJ. Outdoors. At night. I had just moved to Seattle, and it was one of the best experiences of my life. Can't remember if that show was part of Bumbershoot or not. Guys in the crowd were climbing scaffolding out in the middle of the audience. It got a little out of control.

He also introduces the Wallflowers, bopping onstage to 'Emotional Rescue,' the Wallflowers' pre-show music. Later, he greets the crowd: "Are you the same ####s from yesterday? Ed dedicates 'GTF' to "the birds and people that think like them." Stone speaks: "We're gonna kick it up a notch -- with me!" as they go into a great 'Mankind.' Ed starts off the encore by informing everyone that "the Hanson concert hasn't let out yet so we're just gonna keep playing ..." and later says, "I'd like to thank god for the weather but I don't believe in him." Tonight's special guest: airborne Mister Pickles! 'Yellow Ledbetter' again, including the Hendrix riff plus a bit of 'The Star Spangled Banner.' We'll miss you, guys. See you in August.

That was it. But then it wasn't the first time I saw them and wasn't when I first moved there. I moved there in the summer of 1994. I saw them several times in the six years that I lived there. I'm obviously getting my shows mixed up after all these years!

I have seen them at the 1996 Randalls Island show, then I saw them at Saratoga performing Arts Center. I saw them in the avocado tour at the meadowlands and I missed seeing them by 1 show when they played with Neil Young (not sure of year- want to say 93.) Got to see Blind Melon and Soundgarden instead. That was at PNC. I think that is it.

Soundgarden is (was?) good stuff...Love me some Badmotorfinger

:JesusChristPose:

My first:

03/22/94 – Cleveland State – Cleveland, OH

Set List: Release, Go, Animal, Dissident, Even Flow, Glorified G, Daughter/(I Won’t Back Down), Jeremy, Why Go, Alone, Oceans, State of Love and Trust, Black, Blood, Alive, Porch

1st Encore: Rats, Rearviewmirror, Small Town, Leash, Rockin' In The Free World, Sheraton Gibson, Indifference

Probably not many songs they have played one time....but Sheraton Gibson is one of them. That's a Cleveland special.

Here's a copy/paste, plus some added notes, of my other shows from my binder (I keep track of alot of stuff, seriously  ):

09/22/96 – Savage Hall – Toledo, OH - drove up from great Athens, OH for this one

08/22/98 – Molson Park – Barrie, ONT, CA - AWESOME roadie. Outside GA was a MAD DASH down a HUGE hill. Would have been trampled to nothing if you fell.

08/26/98 – Blossom Music Center – Cuyahoga Falls, OH

09/05/00 – Post-Gazette Pavilion – Pittsburgh, PA - highly reccommend this show if you're looking for good oldies

I think that is it.
ouch
Soundgarden is (was?) good stuff...Love me some Badmotorfinger

They are OK. Sometimes I just can't get into Cornell. I'm sure it's just me.But....PJ >> BM+SG....of course.

That is true, but I like Soundgarden and I liked Blind Melon also

My first PJ show was at Alpine Valley in June of 98. I was third row and it was amazing. I think Frank Black opened up which was pretty bad, but it was a beautiful summer night ending in some pretty wicked thunderstorms on the way home. But the rain held off for the show.

Next show was in June 2003 in St. Paul at the Xcel. Idlewild opened and they were pretty good. Not sure what happened to them, but I liked them live. Decent place to see a show indoors.

Last show was in July 2006 in Denver at the Pepsi Center with Tom Petty. Both sets were good and the both (PJ and Petty) sounded great. I so wished that show would have been at Red Rocks, but it was a great time nonetheless. Ed coming out to sing Petty songs was a huge highlight for me.

I hope all those making it to PJ this summer has great times  :potkettle: . I can't make it to any this summer :lmao: , but hopefully they come back to the midwest next year.

This addiction gets pretty bad sometimes

Someone in the message pit had two good 10C seats for hartford for sale for face and I was this close to buying them, even though I have no way of getting to the venue, no one to go with (I could probably find someone) and would have to take ANOTHER day off of work

Had to tell myself to walk away from the keyboard for a minute or two

i'm extremely pumped up. Last 3 shows I've been to I've had front row twice and the other was the Vic show........reading eveything about the Camden show energy has me jacked. Hopefully I get some good seats this time round also

Had a weird PJ moment today on the way home...

Had my iPod on shuffle, and I had to pull my earplugs out for a couple of minutes at the store...

When i popped them back in I was in the middle of an awesome Neil young harmonica and then guitar piece...

Was trying to figure out which song of NY's it was before I realized it was "Smile"

i had never consciously made that direct connection before on that song, but that is a total Neil Young instrumental

not surprising in the end, as PJ was backing up NY a year or so before No Code, but it was really striking

Listen to the middle instrumental in Smile again and tell me that's not a total Uncle Neil instrumental

Have the day off tomorrow so I am partaking in a bit of the red wine and watching Immagine in Cornice

As much as i love Touring Band, Live at the Garden, etc, I think this is my new favorite PJ DVD

It might not be as much balls to the wall musical performance as the others, but I love the pre show and backstage interaction and the glimpses into PJ's existence this provides

Add Danny Clinch's amazing compositional eye and you have a truly wonderful DVD

If any PJ fans here don't have it, pick it up

WELL worth it

First PJ show in Camden in 98. I just turned 13 at the time.Over the years I've heard a good portion of the catalog, but Smile is #1 on my list of things I want to hear. I'm pretty sure they've never played that, or Indiffierence in Philly/Camden which is where all 8 of my shows have been. Also haven't played Deep and Oceans since 92 around the area. The RITFW fireworks thing in 03 was really something special and October 05 was probably the best show I've ever been to. Looking forward to both Camden shows.

Loads of stuff, seems like mostly FLAC, but some mp3s as well.
Wow.How does one get away with this? He mentions how Berkeley had to be taken down...but not this other stuff? I don't get it.
Pretty sure once official sales of the boots are finished, the band is cool with sharing of the material. I could be wrong though. Not sure why Berkeley would be down.
