Anyone got a stream for tonight? Looks like a strong start.
:goodposting: i can't find it on uStream.
Hopefully we can find something for tomorrow at least. Did you hit the Long Beach show (you're in Southern Cal right?)
Long Beach show was as good as the hype. I was on the floor, but didn't see Bieber.Go here for tonight's ustream (audio only). DWD 2nd set opener playing now.
Bieber?

Wow. I had an invitation (with ride) to that show, but I didn't get the answering machine message until it was too late.Shoulda checked my machine sooner.

Phish just absolutely ####### SLAYING IT tonight. Best band on the planet.
Please. You don't need to make ridiculous declarations in order to say you like something. They've sounded good tonight though. The stream was clear as a bell.
What band right now is better than Phish all things considered?
In the jam world? None. "All things considered?" Too many to list.
just a couple for comparison. I will argue that the way Phish treats their fans, their touring, their live music and just the overall show that phish is the best band going right now. Actually I dont even think there is a close 2nd. Maybe Radiohead but they hardly ever tour.

Pearl Jam and Phish are pretty similar bands with respect to everything you mentioned. Maybe Bobcat can chime in on which one is more fan friendly...I just don't have the first hand knowledge about Phish like I do with PJ.

First letters of each song spell out #### YOUR FACE. I had a bunch of friends there last night. The one I've talked to said it was the most jam-heavy Phish show he's seen, and he's been seeing them since 1989.

All accounts from the front lines report that the shows in Colorado are the best the band has played since the hiatus and are making the SF shows look like warm-up gigs. Having seen seen a show at my alma mater in '92 and seven Red Rocks shows between '93 and '96, I can assure that they always bring their A game to Colorado.

Thats what everyone is saying. Trouble for me is I dont have the time to listen to the tour. SPAC was insane earlier this summer and I am just now getting to listen to those shows in their entirety. I wonder how many people figured out the joke from FYF? I know minor said he knew it before setbreak which I find incredibly unbelievable.

I believe that a dweeb like that could have figured it out. It's an odd enough first set that people very familiar with the band might suspect something was up and if they're the type of nerd who writes down the set list they could figure it out.

thats a good point plus all it takes is one dude to figure it out.

I think just what you said...they are very similar in those regards. Probably a big reason why they are my two favorite bands and always will be. The funny thing is, I never thought I'd get to enjoy live Phish shows again and I never thought Pearl Jam would still be around after 20 years....yet here they still are, just as good as ever, with no signs of turning away.

You know who is a close second IMO(maybe first in my book) - is Tedeschi-Trucks. I just saw them at Red Rocks last week and man are they good. A mix of Bonnie Raitt(Susan-underrated guitar player BTW) and the Allman Brother(Double drums and Derek - best slide player in the biz) - add in the Muscle Shoals horn sound and the Bass/Organ sound of Booker T/Stax. - It is All American and it is awesome. A growing song catalog - with some good writers and excellent cover choices. They played nearly 3 hours. Go see them when you can!

found a whole bunch of ticket stubs today from my college days. http://img6.imageshack.us/img6/5979/photo12vx.jpg

05/07/94 - Bomb Factory, Dallas TX. The one with arguably the greatest Tweezer http://phish.net/setlists/?d=1994-05-07

10/15/94 - Oak Mountain Amphitheatre, Pelham AL. Dave Matthews was the opening band!

I also have tons of Red Rocks stubs from 95 and 96. The 96 run there had Allman Bros the night before so it was 5 nights straight at Red Rocks.

Got 1998 of MSG during New Years with a hospitality back stage. Got to drink tequila with Fishman one night.

I saw every Red Rocks show through the '96 run. Those '95 shows might have been the best I ever saw them play. Not the funnest shows I saw necessarily, just the best I heard them play.

just checking out the rock and roll hall of fame thread. got me wondering when Phish will first be eligible. the White Tape wasn't really an official release, imo. if it was, they'd already be eligible since it is dated 1984. the hall of fame requires that the first single or album was released at least 25 years ago.

so i am thinking Junta ought to do it. 1989 + 25 years = Phish HOF 2014! first ballot??

Oof. Aside from the end of the 46 Days that was as limp as I've ever heard phish. I know they're still capable of big things but that wasn't it.

Two pretty weak shows to start things off all things considered
i didn't get to hear tonight's show but what i heard on the 28th was solid at worst and nearly epic at best. the playing in the first set seemed restrained to me but they opened things up with the wolfman's and then didn't look back in set two. the tweezer opener had some nice improvisation, the maze and bowie were quite strong. i'd only classify the theme from the bottom as weak, myself.

the review of 12/29 makes that show sound weak as you described. but i, for one, experienced the 12/28 show and "weak" is definitely not a word i would use to describe it.

at any rate, the 12/29 review makes me want to tune in tonight even more, hoping the band has a strong bounce back.
