Yeah. I'm just spitballing.

You can go to system settings and check for updates just to double check.

So you see a + by your username? So that didn't expire.

Did NBA2K15 ever work?

I ask because the game I think comes with a code to activate online features....

That has to be it.

I wonder if Minecraft has a code too.

Bought the PS4 less than a year ago, so I know it is not expired.

That's a total guess, I don't have either game so I don't know.

ANd I'm not sure if games still do that

Well, I realized with NBA2k all I had to do was register an email address, and bang, a whole lot of new features opened up.

I haven't figured out Minecraft yet, but I have a sneaking suspicion my issue has to do somehow with me being an idiot.

So I'm still slugging along on my PS3, but would really like to get the PS4 this year. Some Internet posts think there could be a price drop as soon as this summer. Anyone else have any thoughts about this?

Also, currently my PS3 is our BluRay player. How is PS4 as a BluRay player?

That is how they push new sales, and get to sell "online passes" in the store. Your game is essentially the same as the used one at gamestop until you activate it with the code in the box.

I looked at the box and didn't find any kind of code for Mincraft. I have to search the entire room to see if the kids pulled it out and threw it somewhere thinking it wasn't important (they take after their father).

Looks like a pretty substantial system update for 2.5

Features coming to PS4 with “Yukimura” include:

Suspend/Resume* — Supported by nearly all of your PS4 games, you can jump in and out of your games with just the press of the PS button. Quickly switch from Rest Mode to powered-up so you can pick up where you left off.

Back-Up and Restore HDD to USB — Back-up and restore your hard disc drive data associated with users on your PS4, including settings, saved data, screenshots and video clips as well as games, patches and download data, to and from an external USB drive.

Find and Connect with Friends — “Yukimura” adds to an already robust set of social tools, bringing several updates to continue making PS4 the best place to play with your friends, including:

Facebook Friend Finder — Using your linked account, you can expand your network by searching and connecting with your Facebook friends.

Improved Friend requests — Friend requests and Real Name requests can be sent together in one step when adding a friend on PS4.

Streamlined Party process — The process to create a Party has been streamlined with a reduction in the number of steps required.

Find Friends who play your games — Easily view what friends are playing on each game detail page with a real-time “Friends Who Play This” section, which also highlights which friends are currently online and playing it, and if you own the game, allows you to jump directly into the game.

Join Friends directly from news feed — A new tile will be added on your What’s New feed where you can see what your friends are currently playing, enabling you to join in the game if you own it.

Share Earned Trophies and Optimize Your Trophy List — We know that Trophies are important to many gamers, so we’re bringing more control with how you show them off:

Automatic Trophy Screenshots — A screenshot will automatically be captured when a Trophy is earned, preserving the moment to share with friends.

SHARE Trophies — Players can share Trophy information to Facebook, Twitter or via Message by pressing the SHARE button.

Additional Trophy sorting options — Sort your Trophy list by Earned Date, Not Earned and Grade.

Delete 0% Trophies — Remove games from your Trophy list that have zero percent completion.

Improved and Expanded Accessibility Options — New options added to customize the user experience include:

Customized button assignments for DUALSHOCK 4 wireless controller.

Zoom for displayed pictures and inverted colors for all system functions, apps and in-game.

Text-to-speech is available only for Message and Party, and is only performed in English.**

Enlarged text for all graphical user interface, including Message and Party, as well as the system’s browser.

Bolder fonts and higher contrast UI for all system applications (but will not apply to games or third-party applications).

Remote Play and Share Play — For games that support 60 fps, users will be able to automatically enjoy those games with 60 fps for both Remote Play and Share Play*** on supported devices.

Automatic Installation for System Software Updates — Enable automatic installation for future system software updates.

Sub-Account Upgrade — Enable users 18 years of age or older with sub-accounts to upgrade to a master account directly on PS4, removing restrictions on chat and enabling users to add funds to their Wallet, purchase content and more.

Verified Accounts — Select game developers, producers, designers and community managers will be verified with a badge.

Dailymotion — Upload video clips directly to Dailymotion via the SHARE button.

PlayStation Vita and PlayStation App for smartphones and tablets will also receive system software updates tonight, adding complementary features to those added to PS4. PS Vita update version 3.50 and PlayStation App update version 2.50 will add new accessibility options, including enlarged text, increased contrast and more. This update also enables PS Vita to support 60 fps streaming for Remote Play***.

We’re excited for you to get your hands on these new features and experience them for yourselves. You have all been such a big part of our successes, and we have carefully listened to your requests to make your PlayStation experiences even better. We’re happy to be delivering many of them with “Yukimura.” Please keep the feedback flowing, so we can continue making PlayStation 4 the best place to play.

I can't believe my HDD is almost full. I should have bought one. How much of a pain is it to transfer game saves over.

I read online how to transfer wast just wondering if anyone did it.

Can I just back up from cloud or do I need USB

If you have PSplus all of you saves should be on the cloud. Also it is pretty easy to move stuff around. Just go to the Application saved data tool in the toolbox and you can send everything up to the could, down from the cloud or to a usb device.

Also remember just deleting the games you are not playing much still keeps them in your library and you can just download them later. Game saves generally don't take up as much space as the games themselves. If you just keep like the ten games you are currently playing and delete the rest you save a ton of space.

Yeah but I'd still have to download all the updates right?

I know it's just the installs

Took the plunge. Got a bundle with LoU Remastered and NBA2K15 plus an extra controller. Also 3 months of PS+

Have had a PS3, but I figured what the heck. I haven't played a Basketball game since 1996. I am thinking this will be quite different.

I'm in the same boat. I haven't seen any good bundles since the BlackFriday one. It'd be good to see a price drop around E3 but I don't mind waiting til Thanksgiving if it means saving $50.

My launch PS4 has started giving me trouble recently. It will beep and turn off on its own after about 15 minutes. Usually only does it once and I can use it as long as I want. Last night it did it twice in 30 minutes while I was watching a baseball game. I guess I'm going to trade it in.

Sorry that your PS4 is acting up that is weird I had a PS3 that did that but I don't know why.

I just finished Last of us yesterday. It is extremely well done.

I tried a couple fixes I read but none have worked. I think I'll trade in a he PS4 and my launch Xbox one and pick up a new 1TB Xbox One with the new controller. I have a 20th Anniversary PS4 that I still haven't opened so this will give me a reason to open it.

Did anyone in here play the Order 1886? It's on sale at Best Buy today for $20 today so I'm thinking about grabbing it for a quick play through.

Any news on a PS4 slim version? Rather any concrete news instead of just rumors and such?

Any good trade in deals to upgrade from a PS3 to a PS4? Gamestop has $150 deal but I need more than that at this time. Might just wait till Christmas time to do so.

Lastly, does the PS4 still not work with USB hard drive support for video and other media? Is there a way around that cause that is what my PS3 is mainly used for at this time.

A couple of updates ago they enabled a media server option for download, I am pretty sure that allows you to play all your media through USB. I use it wirelessly so not 100% sure.

Also I don't know about a slim ps4 but they announced last week a new PS4 with a 1TB hard drive.

I am really enjoying the Planetside 2 Beta. It is still rough around the edges as it is still a beta but it is kind of this weird Dust 514, MAG, and Warhawks mash up.

I finally have my ps4 hooked up but am having trouble getting audio out of the controller jack to my headphones. Any suggestions?

Not an expert on this at all, but my guess is that you're going to want a HDMI-to-component converter. I don't know for sure that such a thing exists, but I'm sure it probably does. I used to have a 1080i-only TV so I know the hassle. RCA is horrible and there's no way that's what you mean to use.

I sincerely don't mean to be that guy, but you can get good 1080p sets for relatively little these days. You might consider upgrading. I know I'm going to have to upgrade my non-HDMI audio receiver at some point which is going to be a pain in the ###, but sometimes it's worth it to get the most out the hardware you're purchasing. Just my two cents.
I think we're going to go the upgrade route. Thanks for the advice. Do you, or anyone, have any recommendations or brands you would avoid at all costs? I've narrowed my needs/specs down to: 1080p, 120hz minimum, price < $500, size > 40".

One simple search brought me these options, which I'm fine with just have no idea how to choose:

Vizio, Sharp, or LG 50".ETA: I'd serious consider going to $599 and getting the Vizio M series (I have the 65" model) or the 50" Panasonic. Those seem like much nicer TVs for only $100 more.
If you're going 40", pay $200 more and get a Samsung UHD.

edit: Wow. Just realized I responded to a 6-month old post. Sorry about that. I'll leave the link there for anyone interested.

Found it. Thanks. There is a separate controller settings window by hitting the ps button on the controller.

My son just called from home. He's saying the PS$ is telling him he needs to delete apps (from the home screen I think). Does deleting something from the home screen delete the saved game data, or just the quick install file?

Here is what I found online

========================================================

Game saves are stored differently than game data

If you want to confirm this for yourself, you can check out how the data is stored by going into the settings menu on your PS4.

Go into data storage management, and you will see there are categories of storage. One of them is Applications, which is the actual games that you will delete eventually. The last category (can't remember what it's called) is the where your game saves are stored. This contains profiles, game settings, game progress, and those sorts of items that you will probably never want to delete. These files can be transferred to the cloud for storage as well.

no problem.

out of curiosity, does he know why he is being asked to delete? Is it a hard drive space issue?

Just talked to him again and he had his story all wrong. He was at the limit for game saves in a particular game so he just had to delete some of the season files (Madden).
